Hello. I am a fully qualified teacher with experience across the whole of the primary curriculum, including special needs and teaching for SATS tests . I continually update my teaching, mainly through the National Education Union online training sessions. I have had great results tutoring children extensively on a 1-2-1 basis for SATS and the 11+ entrance exam, plus have experience teaching adult literacy and English as a Foreign Language. The key is for them to understand the topic by linking to something which they previously now. This creates a connection in their brain to help them remember and understand the concept long-term. It is vital for students to truly get excited about the subject so by using real life examples, they can remember concepts more easily. Furthermore I sometimes guide them in the right direction without actually telling the answer so the child is able to figure it out for themselves. I would follow the syllabus provided and teach every topic in suitable order. Then I had work through past papers and leave them papers and homework on each topic to practise. I would try to create a spark and make the pupils interested in the subject so that they can pursue their further studies with more enthusiasm. Finally, I always listen to the client and exactly what they require so I can adapt my approach.

I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2017 in Economics, and before that did a post graduate Mathematics masters at the University of Warwick. My academic credentials are very good, having achieved 5 As at A Level - the top marks, including 100% in various mathematics exams, when I took them in 2008.

I am a UK qualified teacher with 20+ years' teaching experience. I graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc (Hons) in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2003 and a year later completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the same university. As well as being a full-time private tutor for nearly 15 years, I have a background in comedy, writing and performance. I've published three humour books and continue to write for theatre companies and private events. I also love art and illustration, and try incorporate this into my teaching where possible - for all ages! I currently live in South-West London with my husband and two young children.

Teaching Experience:
Since 2010 I have taught hundreds of students aged 3 to adult, including high-profile clients, international placements, EFL pupils & students with complex learning needs. I have also worked as an Assistant Course Director at Pilgrims Language School and a Shakespeare Expert at ICES University in France.

I am a fully qualified, DBS-certified teacher, private tutor and Dyslexia Specialist with over 30 years' experience in education, teaching and as an Advisory Practitioner for the Society of Education and Training (SET).

Alongside tutoring, I have previously worked as a Dyslexia Coordinator and teacher in various schools and colleges, including Harrow College, Uxbridge College, Barnet College, Stanmore College, Weald College, West Herts College, and as a Teacher/Tutor Inspector for Harrow Borough Council. My most recent lesson observations were graded Outstanding (Grade 1) by Ofsted, and I can provide excellent references from colleges, parents and former students.

Teaching Experience:
I have extensive experience supporting students of all ages, including those with dyslexia, ADHD, Asperger's, and English as an additional language. I specialise in English Language & Literacy and Maths, tailoring each lesson to the individual needs of my students.

Tutoring Approach:
My teaching approach is multi-sensory (visual, auditory and kinaesthetic). I believe in making learning fun and enjoyable, not a chore. In the first lesson, I assess individual needs, form a learning plan, give feedback to parents, then aim to fill in any learning gaps before moving on. Each session builds on previous learning. I always say that if a student does not understand how I have explained something, this is my responsibility to rectify, not the student. Repeating instructions is not the key - explaining in different ways is what works.
