Educational technology supplements my instruction. The content in every session is presented on PowerPoint with quality images. I clarify every point and make certain my student has grasped the present concept before I proceed with the next. Where appropriate, the PPT presentation is followed by a brief video which makes the content come alive. Hi! I'm an Oxford graduate with a 2:1 in English Language and Literature. I graduated in 2013 and went on to study an MSc in Psychology at Oxford Brookes, in which I achieved a distinction. I am now a published author, and split my time between writing novels and tutoring. I have been tutoring for over ten years and have worked with lots of students of all ages. When I was in the 6th form (in 2009), I also volunteered as a classroom assistant in my school. I was working with students who were having difficulty with essay-based subjects like History and English. I worked with two students in their History classes, helping them to understand the work they were set in class and working through it with them. I had to use my knowledge of French to help one student who had not yet learnt to speak fluent English, translating the teacher's instructions for her and helping her with words she did not understand. Between 2009-10, I helped to run two after-school classes for Key Stage 2 pupils, one in Literacy and Art and another in Drama. This involved planning and delivering lessons to classes of about 5-10 children, and keeping them engaged with the topics they were learning through activities designed to both teach and entertain.

Tutoring Approach:
My experience of tutoring has shown me the importance of patience and respect in teaching. Especially in essay-based subjects, it is crucial that a teacher allows their pupils space to develop their own ideas, and respects their independent thought. Learning by rote has only limited usefulness: the best way to excel at a subject is to understand it, so I always explain concepts as fully as possible and move at the tutee's pace, making sure that they have properly grasped each concept or issue before moving on to the next. My Schools Plus training emphasised the idea that the goal of tutoring is to help a student to help themselves, enabling them to tackle problems rather than solving things for them. I think that this is fantastic advice, and it is a rule which I always try to bear in mind when tutoring.

I started working as a tutor in London and Surrey in 2013/2014, mainly for students who had been excluded from school. In 2015 I relocated and began tutoring private clients in East Anglia. In 2016 I started offering online tuition, first using Skype, and now with Zoom. Tutoring Approach:
For younger students, I assess them on their first appointment to see where their strengths and weaknesses are. Each lesson is built on evidence-based teaching strategies, ensuring effective, results-driven learning. I focus on developing essential exam skills, including essay writing techniques and the maths skills needed for Research Methods. Beyond academics, I help students strengthen critical thinking and other valuable life skills. As a qualified coach, I also support students with organisation, time management, and strategies to manage academic stress. Sessions are delivered remotely, last 1 hour, and are suitable for students studying AQA GCSE Psychology or A-Level Psychology.

Hi! My name is Hayley. I am a fully qualified, full time Psychology and Health&Social Care teacher! I am extremely passionate and dedicated to these subjects and absolutely love teaching both of them. I have two degrees in Psychology - a BA (Hons) in Educational Psychology and MsC in Psychological Sciences from Brunel University, London.

I have a PGCE with QTS in Psychology from University College London, Institute of Education. I am a full time teacher at a secondary school situated in North London.
I have been teaching A-Level Psychology (AQA) for two years and GCSE Psychology (AQA) for one year, as well as BTEC Health and Social Care Tech Award.
I have been working in Education for over 12 years, and started as a Teaching Assistant.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is student-centered, supportive, and adaptable. I begin by identifying the student's current level of understanding and any specific challenges they may be facing. From these challenges, I use an integrated and collaborative approach with the student at how we can best face these challenges using specific tasks.

I focus on breaking down complex concepts into simple, manageable parts, and I encourage active participation through questions, practice problems, and real-life examples. My goal is not just to help students get the right answers, but to build their confidence, critical thinking, and long-term understanding of the subject - fostering their love and passion for it! I also provide regular feedback and adjust my teaching strategies based on what works best for each individual.

My personal strengths lie with supporting the student with exam technique. For example, how to answer exam based questions using specific subject terminology and focusing strongly on how to write these answers in an academic way. I use techniques such as scaffolding and modelling to embed these concepts, and this has proven successful with my cohort of students.

Most importantly, I aim to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and are motivated to keep improving.
