The most important rule is to focus on the student instead of how you teach them, or more generally, respond accordingly instead of preparing for a series of potential hypothetical situations.

My whole life, I found that most often, 'plans' or 'strategies' were entirely flawed in many cases. With the number of assumptions one would have to make, a single change in these conditions destroys your plan completely.

What I'm trying to say is that not all students are going to be the same, I for one, was a slow learner, whereas many other would pick up on a concept quickly.

So what is my point? I do not rely on ridiculous, repetitive algorithms for teaching students; I prefer to analyse my students learning capabilities as I teach them and prepare tasks based on their performance in mini-tests and recap sessions.

Tutoring Approach:
I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don't lecture to students or ask them to memorise things. But I am very flexible.

Finished my Higher education in 2021 and after that I started teaching students as a home tutor. I have been teaching several students throughout the years as I am enough passionate about teaching and like to share my knowledge with children. Hi, I'm Owen and I'm Cambridge graduate and professional education consultant. In addition to my work tutoring top-mark GCSE, IB, and A-level students for English, French, and German, I've also delivered in-house Oxbridge support at dozens of the UK's top independent schools, as well as directly guiding hundreds of students through the entire Oxbridge application process.

I've been supporting students with university applications for over eight years, starting off providing pro bono support for languages applicants while studying for MA Modern & Medieval Languages and MPhil Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at Girton College at the University of Cambridge. Following graduation I started my full-time career in education consultancy, where I've taken up various professional roles at leading consultancies, leading in-house support for personal statements, admissions tests, and interviews at hundreds of top schools such as Wellington, Rugby, Tonbridge, Benenden, and JAGS. Teaching Experience:
I've personally consulted with hundreds of students for (almost) every subject at Oxford and Cambridge, using a data-driven approach to application strategy. I've supported applicants across languages, literature, and history through the entire application process, from course, university, and college selection, to supercurricular engagement, admissions tests, personal statements, written work, and mock interviews. I also tutor GCSE, IB, and A-level French, German, and English Literature, as well as advising on postgraduate humanities applications to Russell Group universities and providing proofreading and editing for PhD theses and academic articles. I'm a British Council certified counsellor and have completed Russell Group certified training on supporting students to progress to competitive universities.

I welcome interest from Oxbridge applicants across all courses seeking strategic guidance, as well as providing holistic application support and GCSE, IB, and A-level preparation for English, French, and German. Personal Description:
I approach tutoring with patience and enthusiasm, focusing on exam technique to prepare the student for GCSE or A Level English Literature and/or GCSE English Language exams. I have comprehensive knowledge regarding the AQA English syllabus and mark schemes for both Literature and Language, but I am happy to adapt to the exam board in which the student will be examined by.
I achieved a grade of 9 (equivalent A**) in both English Literature and English Language GCSEs, and achieved a grade A in English Literature A Level. I am currently an Undergraduate student at the University of Liverpool studying Law.
I strive to encourage a love of English in students and to support them in tailoring their writing to the objectives of the mark scheme, in order to achieve the highest marks possible.
This tutoring would be suitable for Year 10 students preparing for mock exams and for Year 11 students who will be sitting their GCSES. I will tailor the lesson to be suitable for the grade ambition of the student, whether that be to achieve a pass in English or to achieve a higher grade to support further studies at Sixth Form or college. For A Level English Literature students, I will nurture the transition from GCSE to A Level, and support the student in adapting to their new course and excelling in their studies.
I have always been naturally inclined to support others and to share my passion for English Literature and Language. From my sister teaching me to read when I was younger, to my English teacher supporting me throughout my 7 years of education at school, I understand the importance of patience and personal passion for your chosen subject.

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored both Literature and Language, providing tailored sessions and outlining a clear and structured tuition plan for the student. Personalising my teaching to each individual student has proven to improve not only grades but also confidence, which encourages better performance and overall an enjoyable learning experience. Furthermore, I have also taught in classrooms teaching English abroad, an experience which greatly developed my teaching techniques and approach.

Furthermore, I have a personal passion for creative writing, which I am passionate for sharing with my students to prepare them for the often heavy-weighted creative writing questions on their GCSE language paper. I was awarded the Athenaeum Young Writers' Award in 2023, and since then I have been published in numerous anthologies for both fiction and poetry.

Tutoring Approach:
I provide a completely tailored approach to tuition, as every student's needs are personal. I work closely with my students to develop a learning experience that is most beneficial to them, rather than a generalised structure like that within a classroom setting. My sessions are interactive and productive without being overwhelming, focusing on developing skills over a number of sessions so that come exam time, the student is well prepared and confident.
