As Senior Teacher/ Teacher in Charge, of a Medical Pupil Referral Unit I headed up a dedicated team of skilled teachers who worked with young people on a 1:1 and small group basis. I am well aware of the current concerns with the mental health of young people and aim to support those I work with in a positive and sensitively focused manner. Many of my student's have experienced exam anxiety, dyslexia and learning difficulties which has made school a problematic environment for them. The demands of online teaching have led me to expand my skills. Personal Description:
I decided to start tutoring after my experience in trying to get tutors for my own children. As a professional working internationally I thought it would be easy to hand over this important element of their education to someone with both experience and patience. My notion was quickly turned on its head. The Tutors I found taught textbook style with the one shoe fits all approach. My children and others didn't fit into that mould. I very quickly realised that I could do a better job and took the role in house, initially teaching my own daughters before extending out to their friends.

With photography I teach that a photograph is a language whether is modern expressionalistic, surreal or journalistic. We have to try to understand what the photographer is in fact seeing. Don McCullin and Man Ray are both expressing not only a critique of the outside world but are providing a window into themselves, their deeper nature.
With drama I want the student to experience somehow what the actor is experiencing of what the director wants the audience to feel and/or learn. I'm particularly interesting in conveying the immediate appeal of Peter Brook and finding out, with the student, where Brook and all the other dramatic explorers, what they are saying to us and where they want to take us.

I'm currently working at a 2:1 standard on an interdisciplinary degree at the University of Nottingham. This program allows me to weave a rich academic tapestry, blending sociology, politics, theology, and more.

From a young age I've held a deep love for learning, and I would be genuinely thrilled to facilitate it in others. On my uni course I have developed and delivered high-quality presentations and written many first-class essays. At college meanwhile, I ran the LGBT+ club at which I taught lessons and developed displays explaining the histories of marginalised groups. I am highly interested in social issues, spending time every day reading about current affairs, political theory and so on. I also love to watch films as well as read and write poetry. I am currently in the early stages of working on a novel. I enjoy practicing French. Whatever aspect of the subject is proving challenging, whether that's understanding the concepts or working according to the mark scheme, I hope to help students overcome it in a way that works for them and gets them a grade they truly deserve. I would point the way and show them examples at each step.

Not a single person in this world sees things exactly the same way; I would show my students how to take the ideas in their head and to synthesise pieces of evidence and analyse the content in an academic and structured way to get their points across with impact. My intention is not simply to share my techniques but rather to use them as a springboard and get to know my students so that, together, we can figure out ways of studying that really work for them.

I know school can be tough- seriously, I've been there. My aim is not to dictate, but to guide, to help students understand their subject in a new light. I want to delve into the curriculum in a way that makes it click, that reframes how my students see it.

Teaching Experience:
I have experience of tutoring juniors at high school as they prepared for the university entrance exam in my country.

Tutoring Approach:
I will prepare PowerPoint slides as well as interactive online activities such as Kahoot for children to learn. I can do in-person tutoring as well.
