My teaching approach to tutoring varies from objective to objective. Languages should always be taught in a full immersion style, especially when it is targeting groups of people who are doing it for either vocational or personal reasons.
Tutoring of subjects such as languages with an objective such as GCSE or Highers or indeed University exams must take into account the syllabus that students must complete in order to reach their target: i.e. pass exams and, at the same time, learn in an effective though 'unforgettable' way. The majority of classes must be delivered in the target language, however in order to meet timing of syllabus coverage and exams some of the concept must be strengthened in the student's language.
In an ideal world, where no exams or timed targets exist, then tutoring of a language should happen 100% in the target language.

My background in creative writing and theatre brings energy, depth, and imagination to my teaching. This creative foundation enhances students' engagement with literature while supporting the development of compelling, precise, and technically secure writing.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is patient, encouraging, and tailored to the individual. One-to-one tutoring allows me to adapt to each student's pace, strengths, and needs in a way that classroom teaching cannot. I provide clear structure and strategy behind the scenes, while ensuring sessions feel supportive, focused, and confidence-building.

I've worked with a wide range of learners: high-achieving students who want precision and analytical rigour; able literature students eager to delve deeper than the classroom allows; and those who see English as simply something to "get through." Whether providing exam-focused frameworks, stretching sophisticated thinkers, or helping reluctant learners find clarity and confidence, my aim is always the same - to meet students where they are and guide them towards independence, competence, and a stronger belief in their own ability.

Personal Description:
My name is Stacey and I am passionate about books! I love reading and all things Literature. It is not surprise that I am a secondary English teacher! Outside of teaching my time is spent enjoying life with my wonderful 8-year-old and spending as much time outside as is possible.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching secondary English for over 10 years and have experience of working with students of all abilities and needs. I am currently in my seventh year at a school that is consistently ranked in the top 10 in Surrey.
I currently teach AQA GCSE English Literature & Language, AQA A-Level English Literature, and AQA A-Level English Language. I have also examined for AQA GCSE English Literature for the last seven years.
I am confident in delivering both content and skills for the AQA specification and am happy to consider tutoring for other exam boards depending on the texts required.
I am also the lead teacher for Key Stage 3 English at my school and have extensive experience working with this age group.

Tutoring Approach:
I am happy to travel to your home or host tutoring sessions online.
I believe in working alongside a student's school and current education. I will work with a student and parents to establish areas in need in English Language and/or English Literature, then provide teaching and resources to complement and extend current knowledge and skills. I am happy to mark work between sessions when there is a focus on exam style responses.
