I have tutored 4 students thus far, from Year 10 or 11 until their GCSE exams. My students have had great successes: my first student climbed 2 and 3 grades in their English GCSEs, passing them and allowing them to move on to sixth form without resits; another student achieved 8s in both English GCSEs, way higher than expected, and climbed grades over time in Maths; whilst another student also passed GCSE English Literature first time, with a Grade 4, well above his initial starting grade when we began tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that learning should be fun and in a relaxed atmosphere but at the same time academic and useful. My approach to teaching is to have the tutor and student both feel that they are getting a lot out of the experience and that the time is being well used. I will break down subjects into easily manageable blocks and make sure that my student understands the unit before moving on. I also like to vary my tutorials by having some in the form of lectures, some in the form of question and answers, some where I will give students feedback on homework they have done and suggestions to improve what they have done, etc.

I also find that on-line tuition is the best method and students can ask questions that they may not ask if they were face-to-face with someone, it is a much more relaxed approach but students get a lot out of it (and can save all the notes from lessons for use later on).

Personal Description:
Trusting me to tutor your child ensures fresh ideas and intervention, reliability and meaningful interaction allowing them to successfully achieve personal goals. I offer patience, lots of encouragement and tailored feedback, all with a view to improving your child's performance.

I take a keen interest in developments within my profession and maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of educational initiatives and learning strategies. I have an enthusiastic and compassionate nature and enjoy supporting students to achieve their goals.

Teaching Experience:
I am a fully qualified Primary School Teacher and have been teaching since I qualified over 9 years ago. I have experience of teaching from early years through to upper stages of primary school; however my main strengths lie in the upper school having taught P6 & P7 now for the last 7 years, successfully preparing children for high school. I have a particular interest in literacy and numeracy. I have training and experience of teaching children with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome as well as ADHD. I am happy to develop skills in literacy and maths, support homework tasks or design an individual learning programme suited to the child's needs.

Tutoring Approach:
I am a fun and approachable person and this reflects in my teaching. I believe in implementing a variety of teaching approaches and strategies to motivate and engage students.

I enjoy getting to know my students and tailoring my teaching approaches to their individual needs. By taking prior learning into consideration, I can ensure that learning experiences remain challenging therefore increasing interest and motivation.
