I have been teaching for the past eight years and am currently Head of Law and a teacher of Economics at a secondary school rated as outstanding by OFSTED. Previous to teaching I graduated in 2006 from Loughborough University with a BSc Hons degree in Banking, Finance and Management, I then worked for three years as a trainee quantity surveyor on a civil engineering project at the Olympic site in Stratford before training to become a teacher. As a student of mathematics for over 25 years (and counting!), I have dedicated the past five years to making mathematics accessible to secondary students around the world.

After graduating from the University of Birmingham with a 1st Class BSc Hons in Economics, I worked as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant at professional services firm, PwC.

In search of a more fulfilling profession, I made the move into teaching through the Teach First programme in 2018 as a secondary mathematics teacher. Since then, I have taught as a qualified classroom teacher in the UK and as a Head of Department (Mathematics, Science, and Design) in China helping students from the age of 10 to 19 achieve their academic and personal goals.

I have taught Maths as a qualified teacher in UK secondary schools. I then went on to teach Maths, Economics, and Business Management at an international school in China, where I was also Subject Group Leader for Maths, Science, and Design.

University of Cambridge Undergraduate. I achieved 9 A*`s at GCSE and A*A*A*A in my A-Levels.

As someone who has recently experienced what it is like doing the new style of GCSE`s and A-Levels, I understand and recognise what works best in order for students to excel beyond what they think might be their limits. Having achieved 9 A*`s at GCSE(6 "9`s" for GCSE and 3 "A*`s for IGCSE) and A*A*A*A at A-Level recently, I understand what approach works best in order for a student to excel and what the exam boards are looking for so that the pupil can achieve the best grades. I am able to teach a wide variety of exam boards.

My students feel that it is very easy to connect with how I teach and are not afraid to ask questions or approach my teaching in a fun and informal manner. With over 3 years of extensive tutoring experience - having clocked in hundreds upon hundreds of hours - I have relished helping pupils sky-rocket their grades. During my time tutoring I have helped students of all ages - helping them with their 11+, GCSE's, A-Level's and University Admissions. Every single one of my students have achieved their desired grades that, in turn, have helped them get admission into their dream secondary school, dream sixth form, or dream university (with many students getting into Oxbridge and other Russell Group Universities). A significant percentage of those I tutor come to me for help in Economics, Maths, Politics and help in their University Applications (from help with their personal statements to Oxbridge support for their desired course).

I am a passionate Second Year Economics student at King's College London, and have scored a First Class in all my mathematics-related modules (including Advanced Maths for Economists and Statistics for Economists). Prior to university education, I achieved A* in every Maths and Further Maths Papers (for Further Maths: Pure Core 1, Pure Core 2, Further Statistics, Further Mechanics, and Further Additional Pure). I have a huge love for maths and what it can teach you - it's not just all numbers! It has many applications to real life and is so rewarding when you get it right. I believe any maths can really help you to develop your resilience, analytical thinking, and creativity: there are often so many ways to approach problems! As an extra-curricular alongside my course, I take Spanish, studying at roughly C1/C2 standard. Aside from academics, I particularly enjoy running, biking, and swimming in my free time, as well as playing the piano.

Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring throughout my undergraduate degree course at university, spanning GCSE Foundation and Higher Tier, GCSE Further Maths, and A-Levels. This has successfully culminated in improving grades of my students, for example from C to A at A Level. I have mentored students at GCSE Maths level during my time in Sixth-Form at secondary school, as a way to give back to the community. Furthermore, I have been volunteering for over 6 months as a GCSE Foundation Maths Curriculum Administrator at an organisation promoting increased opportunity for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. This involves developing KS4 lesson plans, reviewing and improving existing lesson plans, and marking exam papers. I love personalising my lessons to the student's wants and needs, with a special emphasis on encouraging confidence in students. Never be scared to ask a question and have a go, and trust your instincts too! I teach the key theories behind questions which allows you to add new ways to approach unseen questions using your whole arsenal of weapons you subsequently have at your disposal. I use a combination of teaching by examples, as well as setting independent practice questions which we can go through if there are any difficulties.
