Personal Description:
I am an Economics graduate from Hanover University, Germany and teach part-time in a successful private college in the city of Bath. Since 2004 I have been working as a freelance tutor of Economics, as a translator (from English into German and vice versa), as a journalist and book author. Prior to that I worked as a technical support engineer for four years and as an office manager for six years. I live in Bath, am married and have two children. I love teaching, especially Economics, because it deals with some of the most fundamental problems of our society. To solve them we need to understand Economics.

Teaching Experience:
Since 2004 I have been tutoring AS and A2-level students in small groups and one-to-one, and university preparation courses in classes of up to 15 students. I have taught the AQA, Edexcel, and OCR syllabuses. Most of the individual students were re-sitting exams, most of whom improved their grade, often significantly.

Tutoring Approach:
First of all I ascertain any particular areas the student needs help with most urgently. I then review the basics with the student to make sure that these have been well understood. We then systematically work through the required subject matter, checking progress with the help of exam-style questions and past examination papers.

I am a qualified Chartered Accountant, working as a financial accountant at a large property and casualty insurer in the City of London. My Father was a Mathematics teacher in London for nearly forty years, which is most likely where I get my boundless enthusiasm for these subjects from! Tutoring Approach:
During the first session I present a short questionnaire that I ask the student to fill in (honestly!) in order for me to assess their individual learning styles (right brain vs. left brain, use of visual stimuli etc), so that I can respond best to their needs. Every lesson will begin with an outline of the subject content and the intended aims. The key to success in maths and economics is to do it! With that in mind, the vast majority of lessons will entail methodically working through problems and exam style questions to ensure my students are as well prepared for their modules as possible. I use student problem identification approach which means I encourage students to identify and communicate to me what they are experiencing as a problem in their specific topics in their studies and then based either face to face or online, I focus on these specified identified problems. Small groups tutoring does work in certain situations where students are friends and prefer to learn together as they motivate and learn form each other especially in times of revision. My approach to tutoring will mostly depends on the individual's needs.

University of Cambridge Undergraduate. I achieved 9 A*`s at GCSE and A*A*A*A in my A-Levels.

As someone who has recently experienced what it is like doing the new style of GCSE`s and A-Levels, I understand and recognise what works best in order for students to excel beyond what they think might be their limits. Having achieved 9 A*`s at GCSE(6 "9`s" for GCSE and 3 "A*`s for IGCSE) and A*A*A*A at A-Level recently, I understand what approach works best in order for a student to excel and what the exam boards are looking for so that the pupil can achieve the best grades. I am able to teach a wide variety of exam boards.

My students feel that it is very easy to connect with how I teach and are not afraid to ask questions or approach my teaching in a fun and informal manner. I provide my students with resources that I myself used to achieve my grades, which allows them to truly know whether they have grasped a topic.

Teaching Experience:
With over 3 years of extensive tutoring experience - having clocked in hundreds upon hundreds of hours - I have relished helping pupils sky-rocket their grades. During my time tutoring I have helped students of all ages - helping them with their 11+, GCSE's, A-Level's and University Admissions. Every single one of my students have achieved their desired grades that, in turn, have helped them get admission into their dream secondary school, dream sixth form, or dream university (with many students getting into Oxbridge and other Russell Group Universities). A significant percentage of those I tutor come to me for help in Economics, Maths, Politics and help in their University Applications (from help with their personal statements to Oxbridge support for their desired course).
