Hello, I am a UK qualified teacher and have had a very interesting career in the UK and overseas. I lived in Australia for 2 years where I gained an MBA. I worked in the Middle East for 5 years. For the past few years, I have been an on-line tutor for a Paris school, a Budapest school and many private A level, IB and undergraduate students.

Tutoring Approach:
At our first meeting, I will assess your strengths and weaknesses so that I can draw up an individual learning plan for you. The first 15 minutes are free.

I find that most students are capable of learning the content of the GCSE or A level syllabus, can remember the main concepts, but struggle to write a coherent A grade essay. If this is your weakness, then I will focus on developing your essay writing skills and I have lots of resources which I use to do this.
I understand that some of the economics and business concepts can be quite complex and some of the diagrams challenging, so I will be very patient with you and will make sure you fully understand every topic in the syllabus. I will stretch and challenge you to make sure that you stay at the top of your game and I will use materials appropriate to your ability.

My main objective is to help students gain confidence and instil in them a 'can do' attitude. This is something that I believe I am good at. I began tutoring during my A-Levels, assisting GCSE students with their understanding of Chemistry. Helping students develop towards a deeper understanding of the subject is what inspired me to start tutoring more. My teaching approach centres on tailoring material to each individual student, as there is no 'one-size-fits-all' approach to learning. Making sure the lessons are interactive is another of my top priorities, as I believe that mixing the content up to keep the student engaged helps them to learn a lot faster. Once a student is confident with the subject, I get them started on past papers, as applying the knowledge in this way is better reflective of actual exam conditions.

I'm currently in my second year of college studying A-level economics, A-level maths and A-level business.
I went from failing all my subjects to getting predicted Bs, this has led me to wanting to help others fall in love with the subjects they're struggling in and achieve great results. I will be studying economics at university therefore economics is the subject that I'm most confident at and can help first year students only, as for help regarding GCSE maths I'm open to tutoring students in year 8 and year 9.

Tutoring Approach:
I personally prefer that the student brings a question(s) that they need help on and I can assist them. However I believe that the same technique might not work for some students and therefore I'd ask whether they'd prefer to get support on specific topics or a specific style of question.

I have been teaching Economics and Business for over 16 years as Head of Economics and Business in three high performing independent schools. This followed 19 years working in commercial roles in the fast moving consumer goods industry, after which I completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Business Education) at the University of Roehampton in London.
I am taking early retirement at the end of 25-26 academic year so I will be a full time tutor available whenever I am not on holiday!

My approach to tutoring is very much based upon the needs of the individual. I identify the curriculum areas and exam technique that they wish to develop confidence in and work with tailored practice exercises that meet these goals. I help to deliver much improved exam and very often the confidence they need to approach external examinations with a positive mindset. I am used to working with a range of abilities in my private tutoring ranging from those who are very confident in their understanding but wish to improve exam skills to those who seek much greater clarity of the fundamentals of Economics or Business.
