I have 11 years performing experience; this combined with the inspiring training I absorbed in drama school gives me extensive knowledge and insight into my specialised area. I was also nominated for the Carleton Hobbs Radio Award, recording at the BBC. Tutees are encouraged to identify a particular question type, e.g. 'the context question', and then use the appropriate formula to gain maximum marks. Thereafter, the tutee is asked to practise this particular type of question whilst also undertaking whole close reading passages containing said question type.

In the critical examination of literature, particular attention is given to structure and developing a mature, yet fresh, personal response. I tend to adopt a modelling approach. Effectively, the tutee and I draft a first core essay on a given text, say, for example, 'Romeo and Juliet' Using this exemplar, the tutee is then assigned further essay questions, drawing upon this core essay as a guideline. Support is given throughout the writing process and constructive feedback is offered in the form of stage-appropriate targets to ensure progress.

I regularly analyse key film texts exploring all areas of film form and the aesthetical quality. I have a strong knowledge on the histrionics of film through intellectual engagement. My ability to teach practical filmmaking from production and post-production has driven my love for cinema. I am currently working as a Screen Acting and filmmaking practitioner. I am currently Programme leader for BA Screen Acting at Met Film School. Previously I use to be the Head of Filmmaking at City Academy Film School and led on the BFi Filmmaking programme. I was the curriculum lead design and taught Screen Acting at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year (BA Hons) Acting programmes. I am a private acting coach preparing professional actors for casting in TV and Film. I taught at Identity School of Acting focus on screen and text for 3 years.

I have a background in theatre and drama: I completed my Master of Arts degree in Theatre Directing at the University of East London. Also I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Drama/Theatre Arts and Stagecraft . I wrote my dissertation on 'How can the form of Burlesque be used to reclaim notions of sexuality and gender?' Currently, I work freelance as a director, performance producer, performer and creative coach.

I have taught in secondary schools for 7 years.

My expertise is in achieving band 9's, the highest awarded grade. However, I also pride myself in my ability to support and help students reach their own personal targets.

For dyslexic students I have created resources to support them in written exams, particularly in drama.

I have taught GCSE drama (edexcel exam board) for 6 years and GCSE sociology (aqa exam board for 2 years.

Many of my students have achieved band 9s in both of these subjects.

I trained as a drama teacher originally but extended my skills set to also be able to teach GCSE sociology.

I am also qualified to teach a level drama although I have not taught this in a few years.

Hello potential students!

My name is David. I was an actor for 20 years, both as a hobbyist and a professional until becoming a writer. I still am both of those things (as well as a voice-over artist), but now would like to pass on my knowledge to other people and see if it helps them.

Until very recently, I worked in customer service for a myriad of companies--all to allow me the space and time to enjoy a career that was never fully stable. I enjoyed them, but only for the opportunity to meet new people and learn from them. True, I may be a tutor, but I will never stop being a student.

I also class as neurodivergent. For decades I lived with undiagnosed ADHD. Learning this was a surprise to many others around me, but not to me directly. The signs were not as well known back then, and somehow I had adapted to learn. These days, we adapt the teaching; so know that whatever background you have, we will find a way to learn together!

Teaching Experience:
Over one year as a private Tutor. Most of my students have been GCSE level (all exam boards) and a few have been adult learners wanting to know more, or Primary School pupils working to better their grammar. I hold a Master's Degree in Creative Writing and a Bachelor's in Drama--both of which give me a unique but well rounded approach to English Literature and Language, as well as essay writing.

Easy; good conversation, plenty of debates and a whole heap of laughs! For most texts involved in the English Language and Literature courses, it's hard to really analyse what lies beneath the words on the page; especially in a school-style setting. Hello! I'm Alexis, your approachable, results-focused tutor for English and Drama. I'm friendly and easy to talk to, with a quick, light-hearted sense of humour that remains respectful. I'm goal-oriented and know what needs to be done to reach your targets. I'm happy to work with all ages. I have my own twin boys in S3 starting their National Fives so I understand the pressures for pupils and families. I want you to feel confident going into class and into exams. I teach one to one or small groups of up to four from my home in the west end of Glasgow or online. Groups are based on level and on texts. Please just reach out to discuss your needs.

I've been teaching English since 1999. I also ran a drama school. In 2017, I added drama to my General Teaching Council qualifications and began teaching drama in schools. I'm currently a visiting examiner for N5 and Advanced Higher drama, and I am also a marker for Advanced Higher assignments for the Scottish Qualifications Authority. Over the years, I've taught in many schools, starting in East Dunbartonshire and Glasgow councils during my early career. More recently, I spent nine years teaching English and drama at The High School of Glasgow. I left in the summer to take up an international teaching post, but I missed Scotland (and its weather too much!) and have returned to build up tutoring. I am experienced and have an excellent understanding of the exam standards.
