Personal Description:
I am a 35 year Principal teacher living in Glasgow. I relocated from Blackpool 11 years ago! I have a degree in drama followed by a post graduate degree in primary education from Lancaster; as well as various sports coaching qualifications.

I am able to teach a variety of subjects and I have also taught maths up to national qualification levels.

I am GTC registered as well as PVG cleared to work with children and vulnerable adults.

Teaching Experience:
I am a primary school teacher but I also have experience of working with high school aged children, particularly in maths. Most of my experience comes in the 5-11 age bracket.

I have worked in both England and Scotland and I currently hold a post as a Principal Teacher within North Lanarkshire. I have a particularly good knowledge of phonics and helping children develop strategies to enhance their reading skills.

Tutoring Approach:
I have high expectations of children as I believe this then fills them with the confidence to push themselves to achieve. I enjoy working with children and like to teach rather than give worksheet after worksheet, I like to use a mix of interactive resources along with more traditional approaches. I am also willing to set and leave homework if that is required.

I enjoy working one to one with children and find it really rewarding seeing the progress children can make in this environment.

For ten years I worked as an audio director, directing many of the UK's leading actors in recordings of 150 audio books, poetry collections and drama. As a writer I have seen my plays produced in repertory theatre and by small touring companies and have also written for TV. I have been coaching people in presentation skills, acting and elocution since 2003. I teach young adults aged 18 and over and adults of any age.

I hold a First Class Degree in English Literature and Drama from Manchester University.

As an actor, I've performed in regional theatres across the US including Cincinnati Playhouse, St. Louis Rep, The Alliance, Playmakers Rep, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, and The Old Globe. Before moving to London, she made her home in Colorado, working at various theatres across the state. She received Denver Post Ovation Awards for her work in ALL MY SONS at the Denver Center, and RABBIT HOLE at the Curious Theatre, as well as the 2012 Culture West "Best Season by an Actress" award and the 2013 Culture West "Best Supporting Actress" in STEEL MAGNOLIAS at Senior Housing Options.

I have just come out of fulltime education at East 15 acting school and am looking to get into teaching. Having recently done an online cause to become a member of learning support staff I have acquired a large variety of skills needed to go into education. My passion is acting and hope to continue with a full BA course in it at some point in the future. I intent to provide an appropriate level of support for any learners needs. I am passionate about discussion and debate in the learning environment to engage learners in their journey. As well as this, I intend to work closely with understanding how to use the learners strengths best in an exam format. I understand personally the frustration of having the knowledge with the inability to format it in a way that the examiners want so have a wide variety of exercises to help with this. Going on from things previously mentioned I am happy to work with all learners no matter their challenges or abilities in these subjects.

Personal Description:
Hi.
Experienced secondary school teacher. Currently on maternity leave.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught in secondary schools for 7 years.

My expertise is in achieving band 9's, the highest awarded grade. However, I also pride myself in my ability to support and help students reach their own personal targets.

For dyslexic students I have created resources to support them in written exams, particularly in drama.

I have taught GCSE drama (edexcel exam board) for 6 years and GCSE sociology (aqa exam board for 2 years.

Many of my students have achieved band 9s in both of these subjects.

I trained as a drama teacher originally but extended my skills set to also be able to teach GCSE sociology.

I am also qualified to teach a level drama although I have not taught this in a few years.

Tutoring Approach:
Student led. I will adapt my teaching style to suit the students learning style.
