With the theory, I often look through past papers with the student to establish common questions and work to get the most succinct and correct answer. I have been teaching in Scotland for approximately 17 years now. I have been involved in a number of SQA and National Projects including tasks such as writing, marking and developing the course.

In my current role, I have full responsibility of delivering the new qualifications from S1 BGE through to Advanced Higher Computing Science. I have made the changes to our course and continue to develop these and the changes have been seamless in ensuring a smooth transition into the National Qualifications. I have enhanced my knowledge at National 4 and 5 by not only delivering these courses from the outset but also attending understanding standards events, marking the assignments and also the exam from the 2017/2018 academic year to present. I am also now an item writer for the National 5 course. I have been delivering the higher computing science course explicitly for the last two academic years and the advanced higher computing science course for this year whilst implementing the changes at all of the appropriate levels. I am also an external verifier for SQA and I am leading the rollout of digital learning within my school. I have helped friends learn programming and overcome computing concepts, and I'm excited to start tutoring and help other learn.

Tutoring Approach:
I will prepare individual lessons based on what students need to learn. The lessons will be paced to match a student's individual needs and learning styles, and I can be patient and empathise with anyone finding a subject challenging.

I am a Mathematician and Computer Scientist with 30 plus years plus experience working across both research institutes and business firms. I have a bachelor degree in "Mathematics and Computing", a Master degree in "Mathematics - Numerical Analysis" and a Doctorate degree in "Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence". I am friendly, enthusiastic and honest. I am also bilingual - English and French.

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored Mathematics and Computer Science to "GCSE" students and above. I have given 1-2-1 tutoring/coaching to individuals, and courses/seminars to small and large groups of university students and professionals.

Tutoring Approach:
I provide friendly, relaxed lessons either individually or in groups of up to twelve students, tailored exactly to the requirements of my students.

A friendly and humorous Head of Computer Science.

* Head of Computing and ICT at school in County Durham. * Worked as 2nd in Department as Teacher of Computing at School in Durham where I taught for 9 years. *Specialise in Computer Science at GSCE OCR for both papers 1 and 2 as well as Python coding that will assist the students project and exam technique. *I also specialise at Computing at A Level OCR where I teach all the aspects of the paper one section of the course from Hardware, Software to the Mathematical side of Computing. * I am currently the lead mentor at my school for Computer Science trainee teachers where I aim to try and support the trainee as much as possible in the classroom to help them progress. * Currently exam mark for OCR at both GCSE and A Level. I also mark and moderate for the exam board for Imedia along with Cambridge Technicals Level 3 in IT. * I have plenty of hours of online tutoring offered to students and use the latest technology available to show progress for the students in my care. * Vast knowledge of IGCSE Computing where I have been tutoring international students. * Always try to keep up to date with the technology world that is ever changing, humorous and very outgoing personality. * Always felt that I have built up excellent rapport with students over the years and that it helps the students get the best possible results. * Father of 2 boys (14 and 11), enjoy all aspects of sport especially Cricket, Football and Golf.
