I am a computer science graduate and have over 10 experience working within the IT sector as a programmer, Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, Database Developer and then as an IT consultant. Having worked in at least 6 different companies including the NHS, I currently work with a major Bank as a Business/Systems Analyst and Data Architect. As an Analyst and Architect, I am very methodical and logical in my thinking, which always helps when breaking down a problem to people (students) new to the concept. I am currently also studying for my MSc in Data Science.

I have previously completed a HND in Computing and Systems Development with distinctions in every module, and achieved A* grades in GCSE and A level ICT, using technologies such Microsoft Access, Netbeans and Visual Studio. With the theory, I often look through past papers with the student to establish common questions and work to get the most succinct and correct answer. With practical problems I would often set a smaller, simpler challenge related to the problem which can help the student understand, and then apply to their own coursework. I aim to make the students complete the challenges themselves as much as possible - it is not my intention to create solutions for coursework/assignments for students to use as their own. -I've seen a lot of students who find visual diagrams and drawings the best way to learn (it's how I learn best too) so I often explain concepts in graphical ways using my drawing tablet and other interactive applications such as Isaac Physics. I also use Isaac Physics to set homework.

-I like relating things to practical applications in the real world to make sense of topics. E.g I'll often use examples involving video games and flashy RGB custom computer rigs to engage teenagers studying computer science.

-Have taught a range of students. Some grasp a concept immediately and are able to visualise it easily and others that do not grasp concepts as easily. For those, I often revisit content and consistently quiz them.

-Have taught students with learning disabilities and have quickly adapted my style to suit their requirements, taking a calm, compassionate approach.

-As mark schemes seem to get stricter and stricter, I ensure my students hit the little details required to get all the marks and I provide nice ways of remembering the pointers.
-I cater as per the student's exam board and we will revisit the specification often to dot the i's and cross the t's.
