Having a PhD and a 1st Class Degree in Computer Science from Sheffield University, I have a great deal of experience in everything from general programming to academic research. I worked for a decade as an academic at both Sheffield and Surrey Universities. I have helped many students through their studies at GCSE and A-level, teaching AQA, OCR and CIE syllabuses. I am also happy to teach adult learners who are looking to expand their skillset.

For A-level and GCSE students it is worth beginning tuition as soon as possible, not just in the weeks running up to exams (although this can still help). This is particularly important for Computer Science because students should be learning a programming language in parallel with their studies. Some exam boards require a programming project as coursework, and it is important that this is completed as soon as possible to leave room for exam preparation.

I am happy to help degree students with theory and learning programming, but enquiries asking for help with an assignment for hand in next week are unlikely to be followed up.

With the theory, I often look through past papers with the student to establish common questions and work to get the most succinct and correct answer. I aim to make the students complete the challenges themselves as much as possible - it is not my intention to create solutions for coursework/assignments for students to use as their own. Taught for 9 years at a high school in Northumberland. I also design and create websites in my spare time. Been an IT trainer teaching apprentices at Level 3 and 4, Worked in FE colleges including spells at Tynemet College and Newcastle College. Currently I work in a secondary school in North Tyneside. I have 20 years experience of teaching all topics within Computer Science and ICT at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. My teaching experience covers secondary schools, further education colleges and working in the private sector with apprentices.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is that I aim to ensure that all students can reach their full potential, by providing a kind,caring and enjoyable, engaging environment for my students, so that they can improve their confidence and subject knowledge. I am happy to deliver tutoring sessions in the students home or online and can cater for all needs and abilities.

A friendly and humorous Head of Computer Science.

* Head of Computing and ICT at school in County Durham. * Worked as 2nd in Department as Teacher of Computing at School in Durham where I taught for 9 years. *Specialise in Computer Science at GSCE OCR for both papers 1 and 2 as well as Python coding that will assist the students project and exam technique. *I also specialise at Computing at A Level OCR where I teach all the aspects of the paper one section of the course from Hardware, Software to the Mathematical side of Computing. * I am currently the lead mentor at my school for Computer Science trainee teachers where I aim to try and support the trainee as much as possible in the classroom to help them progress. * Currently exam mark for OCR at both GCSE and A Level. I also mark and moderate for the exam board for Imedia along with Cambridge Technicals Level 3 in IT. * I have plenty of hours of online tutoring offered to students and use the latest technology available to show progress for the students in my care. * Vast knowledge of IGCSE Computing where I have been tutoring international students. * Always try to keep up to date with the technology world that is ever changing, humorous and very outgoing personality. * Always felt that I have built up excellent rapport with students over the years and that it helps the students get the best possible results. * Father of 2 boys (14 and 11), enjoy all aspects of sport especially Cricket, Football and Golf.
