Unlike most tutors, I am a qualified teacher and have been a successful Head of Physics, Head of science and currently Lead practitioner in charge of STEM outreach. I am actively involved in training other to improve their Science teaching.

I am an experienced Head of Physics and fully qualified secondary school teacher in Science. I have vast experience of tutoring from year 7 up to A-level and unlike other tutors I am also teaching in the classroom. Teaching Experience:
Since 2010, I have been tutoring in the academic subjects Maths and the individual Sciences; Biology, Chemistry & Physics.

I have taught at both primary- and secondary-school levels, with my students ranging between the ages of 6 and 16.

I can also help with entrance examinations for secondary school (including verbal and non-verbal reasoning), and I have provided mentorship and coaching when it comes to UCAS application forms, personal statements and CV writing.

Whilst I enjoyed some of the subjects at school, certain subjects and topics (including Maths!) didn't come naturally to me. I achieved 7A*s and 5A*s at GCSE, and went on to study Biology, Chemistry & Maths at A-Level.

Tutoring Approach:
As I have already mentioned, I have a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology and my tutoring approach is a student-centred one. My experiences covers tutoring, mentoring and coaching and I use a combination of the three in my work.

I am yet to come across a student who doesn't possess the potential to improve. More often than not, it is the large class sizes at school, or a teacher whose approach isn't the right fit, which explains why a student doesn't understand a particular subject, or particular topics within that subject.

Through the 1-to-1 work I do with students, not only have I witnessed some remarkable grade improvements but also some amazing transformations in confidence. I strongly feel that the work I do is more than merely improving grades for exams.

⭐ My philosophy is that if you are struggling with a particular subject or topic, it's not your fault and there's nothing wrong with you. I am a student studying Biomedical Science in the University of Sunderland with an integrated placement at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. I have a passion for teaching Maths, Science and English as they were some of my favourite subjects in school, and since it hasn't been very long since I've left my secondary education, I am well versed in those three subjects, science to a further level due to my degree. I have been taught online as well as helped students online with interview preparation. I found it incredibly fulfilling and much easier than travelling around to places, which can be difficult with those with big workloads or don't have much time during their day. I have taught online during the weekends, as it is much easier to fill up time and space, and think it is the best case scenario for everyone. I am an aspiring Medic currently studying at Imperial College London, I have lived in London my entire life and love all parts of it. Teaching Experience:
I have tutored students from a number of schools in the South East, such as St. Olave's, Newstead, Townley, Beths, Bexley Grammar, Bullers Wood, Eltham College and Sevenoaks, as well as many more across the UK.

I also tutor many Chinese students attending various boarding schools across the UK.

I have experience with all major UK exam boards and can provide my students with relevant study materials.

Tutoring Approach:
Every student is different and my teaching style is adapted to their individual needs once we have identified their weaknesses.

I believe understanding is the best approach to learning and teaching. There's no point in just memorising things if you don't understand where they came from. I explain things in such a way that it is easy to understand, and I am very patient.

However, I cannot perform miracles. Students aiming for top grades would be expected to do some homework in between sessions.

I also offer a lot of flexibility. If the student has learnt something in school they didn't quite understand, I can go over the topic again with them during our lesson. If the student understood everything in school, I can teach them new topics to prepare them for when they learn that topic in school. Lastly, near exam times, I can offer intense exam revision and exam paper practice.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified and experienced teacher and tutor of Biology and Chemistry with over 30 years teaching experience.
I have a B.Sc. in Developmental Biology and Biochemistry from Aberdeen University and a PhD.D. in medical science from Glasgow University.
I very much enjoy helping students understand and enjoy learning the concepts in Biology and chemistry needed to succeed in passing GCSE and A-level courses.( also Higher and Nat 5 courses in Scotland).

Teaching Experience:
I taught for 18 years as Assistant Curriculum Leader in Science at Clydebank College in Glasgow. I also taught a second year and third year university course in Biology with the Open University from 1998 to.2003. Following retirement from full-time teaching, I worked part-time as a Lab Leader with the first year B.Sc.Biology students for 5 years.

Tutoring Approach:
I can make use of a variety of resources, including written course materials, videos and animations available online and use of a whiteboard to explain calculation methods, to help students understand and learn course work. I feel it is important to adapt my teaching approach to meet the needs of each individual student.
