I have been teaching in Scotland for approximately 17 years now. I have been involved in a number of SQA and National Projects including tasks such as writing, marking and developing the course.

In my current role, I have full responsibility of delivering the new qualifications from S1 BGE through to Advanced Higher Computing Science. I have made the changes to our course and continue to develop these and the changes have been seamless in ensuring a smooth transition into the National Qualifications. I have enhanced my knowledge at National 4 and 5 by not only delivering these courses from the outset but also attending understanding standards events, marking the assignments and also the exam from the 2017/2018 academic year to present. I am also now an item writer for the National 5 course. With a Cambridge degree and doctorate in AI I have performed a wide variety of roles including AI research, technical support, network engineering, software development, web development, software engineering, systems analysis ... as well as teaching GNVQ, A Level and University Level. Most recently I have been working as a senior manager in a software engineering company. I am approaching retirement age and returning to teaching. I also work in the Prisons Service and the NHS as a psychodrama psychotherapist and have an enhanced DBS. I will be accepting new students in September 2025.

I know firsthand that everyone processes information in their own way, which makes my teaching style exceptionally patient, adaptable, and empathetic. I do not use rigid textbooks or confusing technical jargon. Instead, I break complex tasks down into small, manageable, bite-sized steps.If a concept or a task doesn't click with a student using a standard explanation, I readily adapt on the spot and use clear, everyday analogies until it makes total sense. I believe that a comfortable, low-stress environment is essential for learning, which is why I travel to my students' homes. No question is ever too small, too simple, or silly in my sessions, and we will always move entirely at the student's own preferred pace.

Personal Description:
I am a primary teacher who was born in India, spent a few years in Malaysia, grew up in Australia and now live and teach in the UK. I understand people and children from different backgrounds, cultures and needs and love to meet new people. I am a mother to a young toddler as well.
I love reading now though this was not always the case when I was younger! I think this gives me a unique perspective on understanding and encouraging a love for reading amongst young children. I enjoy puzzles and quizzes which leans into my strength of logical reasoning.

Session Structure & Ages:

Target Age Groups: I specialise in primary pupils from Year 2 to Year 6, though I also welcome secondary students needing support up to GCSE Maths and English.

Lesson Durations: Standard sessions run for 1 hour. For older pupils (Year 6 and above), I also offer 2-hour double blocks (split into 1 hour of maths and 1 hour of English) to maximise progress without losing focus.
