After completing my D.Phil from the University of Oxford, I worked for 7 years as a Senior Biologist for a small drug discovery company where I was responsible for screening new drug targets in tissue models for human disease. Over the years I've had so many comments from students/colleagues about my ability to break subjects down to ease understanding, and coupled with my passion for science and sharing that with others I decided to change career and become a full-time science tutor. I am a highly experienced Science teacher with 25 years plus teaching Chemistry (specialist), Physics and Biology up to GCSE level and beyond, with a comprehensive subject knowledge. I have 8 years' ongoing experience as a AQA and Edexcel Examiner, marking Chemistry papers and working with mark schemes. For exams, the requirements of the exam board are paramount. I prepare students on how to revise most efficiently and structure their answers to score maximum marks. I am a versatile full-time tutor with experience in teaching comprehensive, independent, boarding, and overseas school students online, during a lesson we review exam papers and focus on the questions to highlight the necessary skills and knowledge needed to attain higher grades. Once we have identified gaps in subject knowledge we can then focus on specific skills and topics to build confidence and understanding.

Tutoring Approach:
Every student is different and my teaching style is adapted to their individual needs once we have identified their weaknesses.

I believe understanding is the best approach to learning and teaching. There's no point in just memorising things if you don't understand where they came from. I explain things in such a way that it is easy to understand, and I am very patient.

However, I cannot perform miracles. Students aiming for top grades would be expected to do some homework in between sessions.

I also offer a lot of flexibility. If the student has learnt something in school they didn't quite understand, I can go over the topic again with them during our lesson. If the student understood everything in school, I can teach them new topics to prepare them for when they learn that topic in school. Lastly, near exam times, I can offer intense exam revision and exam paper practice.
