Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring privately for 20 years and have seen my students grow in confidence, understanding and knowledge of their chosen topics. I saw a girl who I tutored for 7 months go from getting an 'Unclassified grade' in her Biology AS Level to a B in her A2. I have never seen a student of mine's grades stay the same post-tutoring and I am very proud of that.

Tutoring Approach:
I approach tutoring different ways depending on who the student is. I ask them questions about themselves, hobbies, favourite subjects etc; and then using that to better understand how they learn, I talk to them about their private learning and revision and the method of approach to that and to exams. And then I teach them using the method appropriate to their style of learning. I also set plenty of work and get them to do past papers which I send to them in the first week. I then take these away and mark them in my own time and return with a deeper view of where they are going wrong after they have been taught. I do 2hr concentrated sessions either weekly or fornightly and have seen great results not only in grades but also in enthusiasm for learning. I am also on hand to discuss career and university options too, which helps ease the daunting choices the students have to make.

An initial meeting establishes the student's needs and the direction tuition should take. We then begin work on a programme of study which focuses on filling gaps in knowledge and addressing any areas of weakness in some cases we conduct a diagnostic test .
I set regular mile stones/homework and assignments - the quantity varying with how much time the student has - and give feedback the following session.

Tuition generally runs as an independent course running parallel to and complementing what the student is doing at college or university. In addition to my professional experience in human resources and business management, I have also had the privilege of contributing to academic learning as a Demonstrator (Lecturer) in Human Resource Management at Kaatsu International University (KIU). In this role, I helped students navigate complex HR concepts, providing explanations, facilitating discussions, and offering practical insights into the application of HR theories. My work as a Demonstrator allowed me to bridge the gap between theory and practice, helping students connect classroom learning with real-world business challenges.

This teaching experience further strengthened my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and adapt my approach to meet diverse student needs. It also deepened my understanding of the academic side of HR, enriching my overall ability to tutor students in HRM, business management, and related subjects.
