Before teaching I worked in publishing and journalism. I have written a book called 'How to work as a freelance journalist' and I used to manage a magazine so also have lots of practical business experience too.

And then I teach them using the method appropriate to their style of learning. I also set plenty of work and get them to do past papers which I send to them in the first week. I then take these away and mark them in my own time and return with a deeper view of where they are going wrong after they have been taught. I have been the Head of Accounting since 2006, at a large Catholic Sixth Form College in Hulme, Manchester. I am 46 years old, living in Didsbury, South Manchester. I gained my degree in Economics and Finance in 1998 from Leicester University. I began teaching in 2002 so have many years of experience teaching Accounting.

Following a violent attack as a 16 year old child, while perusing various forms of self-defense classes, I was introduced to the Japanese Martial Arts an immediately became a convert.

Martial Arts/Self Defence:

I'm a high-ranking martial arts instructor (6th degree black belt with nearly 40 years experience) and have been teaching now for around 30 years.

At my school in Dursley I have students of all ages from five years up to those in their sixties's. I teach courses and seminars to groups of all sizes. I've taught in schools, worked with police and youth groups etc. I often teach private lessons to individuals, both from my own school and those with no prior experience. During the first session I present a short questionnaire that I ask the student to fill in (honestly!) in order for me to assess their individual learning styles (right brain vs. left brain, use of visual stimuli etc), so that I can respond best to their needs. I am an American actor, director, producer and coach currently living in London.

As an actor, I've performed in regional theatres across the US including Cincinnati Playhouse, St. Louis Rep, The Alliance, Playmakers Rep, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, and The Old Globe. Before moving to London, she made her home in Colorado, working at various theatres across the state. She received Denver Post Ovation Awards for her work in ALL MY SONS at the Denver Center, and RABBIT HOLE at the Curious Theatre, as well as the 2012 Culture West "Best Season by an Actress" award and the 2013 Culture West "Best Supporting Actress" in STEEL MAGNOLIAS at Senior Housing Options.

I produced two off-Broadway plays in New York City and two site-specific productions in Denver. I co-founded The Mile Square Theatre in Hoboken, NJ, now in its 16th year and I'm an Artistic Associate with Théâtre Du Rêve in Atlanta, GA.

I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher of 19 years, and I also examine for the Edexcel exam board. I receive excellent feedback in helping students to achieve above their target grades. Prior to teaching, I worked in business insolvency, and have had a good insight into global business having also worked in North Carolina, US.

I recently left the classroom to become a full-time tutor and travel the world!

My interests are USA road tripping, reading, writing, podcasts (ask me for business recommendations!) playing badminton, cooking, watching football and NFL, live music, and I love new experiences. I'm currently learning Spanish and trying to improve my French. I also have BSL Level 1.
