Personal Description:
I specialise in Maths, English & Science at GCSE level and AS/A-level Maths. I cover all 3 main exam boards including Edexcel, AQA & OCR. I also tutor for 11 plus entrance exams including Verbal Reasoning, Non Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English. I have a high success rate for entrance exams for Grammar & Private schools within South East England.

I have 8 years tutoring experience and am qualified to post graduate level. I have achieved over 90% for most of my A-level modules and `A` grade for GCSEs.

I teach out of a dedicated office space at home. I am available weekday evenings and Sundays and hold a current CRB clearance certificate. A free trial lesson for new students can be arranged on request.

Teaching Experience:

With over 8 years tutoring experience, I am very confident in my teaching. I am qualified to post graduate level and am a high academic achiever.

Over the years I have developed various teaching techniques which I adapt to varied level of abilities in my students. I prioritise on student`s weaknesses and explain key concepts in a way which they understand.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching is in accordance with the exam specification requirements and I focus on what the examiners expect. Each lesson is tailored to meet the needs of each individual student.

I believe past paper practice is essential in ensuring students experience exam environments and get familiar with the format of questions. I have seen a dramatic improvement in my student`s performance improving from E to A grades.

I provide access to a range of preparation material such as past papers, topic specific worksheets, recommended workbooks etc. for my 11 plus entrance exam students. I explain all techniques required to do well in the entrance exams, rather than relying purely on past papers only.

I give weekly homework to my students to ensure learning during the lesson is not forgotten and is reinforced. Regular assessment and review of topics covered previously helps to ensure progress is being made

I have a track record of enabling pupils secure a place at their chosen school and achieve a high grade at GCSE and key stage level. I achieve this by focussing on the pupils weaknesses and explain key concepts and techniques in a way which they understand.

Ellie is a wonderful Chemistry tutor and has always gone above and beyond to help me. I appreciate how she is able to make Chemistry simple and easy to understand. Ellie is a very positive and lovely person, well organised and is always prepared to help me in whatever way I need so I definitely recommend Ellie as a Chemistry tutor.
N
Ellie has been tutoring my children for the last 7 years. My children admired the way she taught, they really enjoyed her lessons and the results they achieved in the end would not have been possible without Ellie. I highly recommend Ellie for anyone who is struggling with Biology or Chemistry or needs help with exam technique. Thank you very much Ellie for all your support over the years, you are the best tutor I have ever worked with.

A Level Chemistry

M
Absolutely fantastic tutor. Ellie is enthusiastic and explains concepts in a way that my son was able to understand. He went from a D in his first chemistry assessment test for A levels before starting with Ellie, to an A in his next test! His confidence in his abilities grew enormously with her help. Thank you Ellie
S
All that I can say is that Ellie is fantastic. When she was teaching myself and my brother A Level Chemistry, she always gave short, concise explanations of concepts in a way that we easily understood. Also, she gave us past paper questions after each topic so that we had plenty of practice at exam technique. She marked these and sent us feedback on what to improve on. This meant that when it came around to do our exams, we were fully prepared for them and confident that we could do well. During lockdown, she was very flexible as she either had online lessons with us or set us exam papers that she marked and sent back to us with details on how to improve. Ellie's tutoring gave us routine Chemistry revision that alleviated pressure and allowed us to balance our time on other A Level subjects. We are very grateful to have had such an amazing tutor who was always cheerful and upbeat. Thank you! -S and S.

T
My daughter needed an A level chemistry tutor. We had other tutors but I would firstly say my daughter was very particular about the type of tutor she wanted . She wanted someone very knowledgeable and someone to help tackle exam questions. My daughter is quite shy and due to her teacher at school had lost confidence. When my daughter had her first lesson with Ellie, she knew she was the right type of tutor. Ellie instantly put my child at ease. Ellie is extremely knowledgeable and knows and knows exactly how to adapt to the style of teaching she required. My child gained confidence and improved greatly. I couldn't recommend Ellie enough. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending her to anyone. She is absolutely brilliant.
A
Ellie is such an amazing tutor and has helped my daughter so much with her A-Level Chemistry. She has a reassuring and supportive approach that immediately puts you at ease and makes each session both educational and enjoyable. She is extremely organised, with well planned sessions, ensuring she sends through any useful material or questions in advance of the session. Her understanding of the curriculum and marking scheme, coupled with her brilliant ability to explain topics in detail and with patience, gave my daughter so much more confidence in going into her A-Levels and I'm sure her results will reflect this. Ellie is by far the best tutor we have ever used and we're so grateful for all her help. I couldn't recommend her more highly.
H
Ellie has taught my son for the last four years, through GCSE and A levels and prior to this she tutored my elder son too. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for high quality Chemistry tuition. Ellie is outstanding- her knowledge of the syllabus, teaching styles tailored to individual needs and understanding of the requirements for examination answers as an examiner but more importantly the encouragement and recognition of your child's strength have the greatest impact in building their self belief, especially in the challenges of the last year!

R
Ellie is fully equipped in her lessons such as allowing her students to attempt past paper questions after going through a topic. This gives her students a great opportunity to achieve well in their exams. I would highly recommend.
K
We asked Ellie as she'd already come highly recommend by friends. She has been instrumental in deepening my son's grasp of chemistry A level and undoubtedly made all the difference in his gaining an A grade. Excellent communication with us about his progress and the areas he needed to focus on. Such a lovely lady too, a gem!
A
Given the step up in difficulty of the new linear Aqa A Level chemistry course, I couldn't have been happier with the tutoring and support Ellie gave my son. She is extremely knowledgeable and very organised ensuring all topics are covered, setting sufficient homework and practise papers to reinforce the theories to be learnt. More importantly she is a hugely encouraging and friendly person who made my son feel confident in his own abilities. She goes the extra mile and provides excellent feedback after marking homework or practise papers so my son could see where he went wrong. Messages of support before each exam highlight Ellie's caring side and her desire for her students to do well. Having 2 family bereavements during my sons exams demonstrated the depth of Ellie's teaching allowing him to still achieve his A grade under very upsetting and difficult circumstances. We were so proud he was able to secure his place at university for medicine. So impressed was I with Ellie I recommended her to 3 other parents. I know those students achieved an A grade and 2 A* grades respectively. Ellie is an amazing tutor who really does deliver results. I cannot recommend her highly enough!!
A
Ellie has tutored my daughter for the last two years. My daughter went from being worried about studying A-level Chemistry to being confident and achieving great results; through Ellie's caring nature, in depth knowledge, and hard work. She is a fantastic tutor and I highly recommend her.

M
Ellie was an amazing tutor she really gave me confidence and helped me achieve the grade I wanted, which was a B. I couldn't have done it without her help. She was happy to help with any questions even outside of the lesson and made me enjoy chemistry. Thanks Ellie x
A
Highly recommend!!! Ellie has genuinely been the best chemistry teacher I have had, she is also an examiner which is a great help as her knowledge is always up to date not only with content but also exam questions and mark schemes. She explains the chemistry in as much detail as you need as opposed to the majority of teachers who focus more on memorisation and wrote learning. So you have a good understanding (which is the best teaching style as exam questions can require a lot of application.) Ellie is also extremely kind and understanding, she has offered so much support from a mental health perspective. She truly goes above and beyond for her
students :)
R
Ellie has given M the confidence in A Level chemistry, and has encouraged M to work hard and do well in this subject. Ellie had given M additional help via her topic questions booklet ensuring that M is able to understand the topics thoroughly, and she has enjoyed the subject overall alot due to her extra lessons with Ellie. I am very grateful to Ellie for all her hard work and help for the last two years.
D
I am delighted to provide a reference for Ellie , who tutored my daughter in A
Level Chemistry. She is an experienced and highly knowledgeable tutor who consistently demonstrated a positive and encouraging approach. Ellie explained complex topics clearly and thoroughly, ensuring my daughter understood each concept before moving on. Lessons were always well- prepared and thoughtfully tailored to suit her individual learning style and needs. Thanks to her support, my daughter made significant progress and gained much more confidence in the subject. I would highly recommend Ellie to any student seeking expert and personalised chemistry tuition.

T
I had the pleasure of being tutored by Ellie for the duration of my Year 13 Chemistry. This was imperative to me eventually scoring a Grade A in my A level chemistry. She is an incredible tutor as shown by my grade especially considering I got a C in my Year 12 mock examination. Ellie was always super kind to me and if i ever needed help outside of my lessons with her, she would always send it. Ellie is an incredibly understanding person and will work out every question at your pace building your confidence. I 100% recommend Ellie as a tutor! Thank you Ellie for all your help !

C
Ellie has been working with my daughter in GCSE Biology and Chemistry. She is such a great teacher and was able to engage with my daughter in such a way that she felt supported and believed in her own ability. Ellie has great in depth knowledge in the syllabus and armed with focussed exam questions and answers for her students. I would highly recommend Ellie, she is an amazing tutor and a really lovely person.
D
Ellie is an excellent chemistry and biology tutor - she helped two of our children achieve great GCSE grades. She is patient and uses her outstanding knowledge about content and exam technique to explain the most challenging aspects of the sciences in a clear and memorable way. We 100% recommend Ellie as she will bring the best out of any student regardless of their initial grasp of the sciences.
S
I think Ellie is really helpful in all aspects of biology and chemistry. This is because I always understand a topic after Ellie has taught it to me. Also she gives lots of helpful exam practice so I can apply all the knowledge I have been taught so my tests always went well. I always knew the information inside out because Ellie tests me and makes sure I know a certain topic before moving on.
S
Ellie is a great tutor! She really went into detail about what the specification covers and thoroughly explained areas I was less confident in. Ellie's also very organised and did plenty of past papers with me. She made revision more enjoyable and helped me improve in my ability to answer exam style questions
R
Hi Ellie, R got 9s in both Biology and Chemistry. We're obviously very pleased. Thank you so much for all your help over the past two years.

L
Ellie has been my gcse and alevel tutor for chemistry and I cannot recommend her more highly. She is patient and explains all elements really clearly and gives you the confidence to believe you can achieve a grade much higher than you originally thought!
A
Ellie has really helped me to understand topics I wasn't not confident in. She is patient and able to explain through notes with illustrations in detail to ensure I built on my knowledge. I would recommend Ellie to any students 5*
M
My twins have just taken their GCSE chemistry. They were tutored by Ellie who reinforced the difficult concepts now covered by the new GCSE syllabus. Throughout Ellie has been patient, approachable and friendly and is excellent at explaining, she also went through a lot of exam papers which boosted their confidence. Both want to take A level chemistry and have asked if Ellie can can continue as their tutor which I feel is the best recommendation someone can get.
Y
Ellie has been amazing at teaching chemistry, she has helped me understand concepts which I couldn't acquire from school. She is so good at explaining and teaching all the correct exam techniques which have been so helpful in the exam.
S
Ellie has been fantastic. She's inspired S with confidence and clear understanding. Thanks for everything

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher and Cambridge graduate with 15 years of experience tutoring both science and maths. I focus on improving confidence and fostering a deeper understanding of each topic. By relating theoretical concepts to everyday ideas, I help students find the common-sense structure hiding behind abstract numbers and theories. I also provide guidance on revision technique and intensive exam preparation.

Teaching Experience:

I grew up in Bedford, UK and attended Dame Alice Harpur School (now Bedford Girls' School) before moving to Cambridge to study Natural Sciences at Queens' College. In 2008, I started tutoring during the evenings and weekends. Upon the completion of my M.Sci, I relocated to Oxford to create science and maths teaching resources at a local publishing firm - all the while continuing to tutor in my spare time.

Whilst living in Oxford, I found I enjoyed being a tutor so much, that I chose to leave my day job and pursue tuition as a full-time career in December 2012. Two years later, I transferred to London to set up home with my now husband and continued to work as a tutor. However, I found that I had free time during the school day and I wanted to improve my teaching skills, and gain formal recognition for those I had already acquired. I embarked on a two-year part-time teacher training course - secondary school science with a specialism in physics.

I was offered a role at my training school, and took up a position at a local Academy as a teacher of both science and maths. During this period, I undertook extensive training regarding the change to the new (9 - 1) GCSEs and became familiar with the International Baccalaureate - both the diploma and the career-related programme.

In 2016, my husband and I returned to Bedford to start our family and I accepted a position at a local boys' school, teaching science from year 6 to A-level. Following the birth of our daughter 5 years ago, I decided to once again return to full-time tuition in order to spend more time with my growing family.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor each lesson to suit the student's needs. The first few lessons usually focus on getting to know the student and their strengths and weaknesses. I identify areas for improvement and use subsequent lessons to work on these, as well as ensuring that the student is comfortable with the whole of the syllabus. Closer to the exam season, we will focus on improving question technique and creating links across the curriculum.

Personal Description:
I was a student researcher in Church laboratory at Harvard Medical School. My research interest lies in synthetic biology and molecular biology. Currently, I am an undergraduate Biochemistry student at the University of Surrey.
I believe that I am a calm, collected person who enjoys encouraging others to take an interest in Science as it is a fast-growing field with a wide variety of job prospects. In my personal experience, one to one tuitions greatly benefited me before I applied to University. For that reason, I would like to provide others with the same opportunity to boost their confidence so that they can excel even more in biology and chemistry.

Teaching Experience:

I have volunteered and Henry Tyndale Primary School from 2012 to 2013, in which I was able to help and teach pupils of ages 10 to 11. Through attending the school every week, I was able to develop my communication skills and learn new teaching methods depending on the student's needs.

When attending Sixth Form College of Farnborough, I tutored AS Chemistry students from 2013 to 2014. This tuition was set up by the college in order to help new students understand difficult questions, equations or coursework. This was a great chance teach them simple tricks to help them overcome anything they struggled with.

Tutoring Approach:

With biology and chemistry, I believe it is vital to understand basic concepts before learning anything in a higher level of detail. Due to this, I believe it is important for tutees to be taught the basics of a topic before learning detail.
If the tutee seems comfortable with a topic and would just like to consolidate, I would test them with some questions from either past papers or textbooks. This will ensure that, they are able to apply their knowledge.

Also, I believe memorizing key terms and definitions is very useful in exams so I use flashcards or small tests during the beginning or end of the tuition session to test their understanding and make sure that they learn these key words and definitions.

My new approach to teaching includes making online presentations containing key concepts and diagrams that will help my tutee learn about a topic with a new perspective.

Personal Description:
I understand the importance of the relationship between student and teacher in determining a student's enjoyment of the subject and developing confidence in their ability to succeed. I see it as a privilege to be entrusted with that role of tutor.

I have had an extensive career as a Biologist before becoming a teacher, working in the field of cancer research, and in the pharmaceutical industry, which gives me an insight into the possible careers associated with the subject.

I teach online using Zoom which has been very successful throughout the pandemic

Teaching Experience:

I am an accredited AQA A-Level Biology examiner.

I have 25 years experience teaching GCSE and A-Level Biology, mostly at selective state schools, where I have an excellent record of raising the attainment of my students, enabling them to achieve top grades.

I have a strong track-record in tutoring and have successfully worked with students to develop their exam strategies, build confidence and secure their desired grades.

I have worked with students resitting Biology A-Level and helped them improve their grades.

I prepare students for Biology in the Common Entrance 11+ and 13+

Tutoring Approach:

I work hard with my students to build trust quickly, so that they overcome their fear of `getting it wrong` and `sounding stupid`. This helps the students feel relaxed and more willing to verbalise their thinking. This in turn gives me the opportunity to understand their reasoning, identify gaps in their knowledge and correct any misunderstandings.

I support students to develop revision resources and exam strategies as they go through the specification. The sooner they start, the easier the revision before the exams and the more time for question practice they have.

It is important that the students I tutor enjoy their sessions and grow in confidence throughout their time with me, and I employ my coaching skills to achieve this.

Personal Description:
I am a medical student studying in the United Kingdom. I achieved the top grades in my Biology, Chemistry and Law A-levels, and I have a proficient understanding of the A-level curriculum and teaching. I am now tutoring A-level students alongside studying my medical degree, and I am available for 1:1 teaching sessions for A-level students (year 1 or year 2).

Teaching Experience:

I have taught other students biology, chemistry and law throughout my own studying of those subjects at A-level. Since starting at medical school, I have began tutoring students online for their A-levels. The students of mine who I assisted during A-levels have gone on to achieve top grades, and those that did not achieve the highest grades boosted theirs by at least 2 (e.g. E grade to C grade, or C grade to A grade). In addition to this, I was a member of the Medical Leadership Programme, where I was taught key teaching and professional skills that support me in my role as a tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is student-led, meaning that you tell me what you would like help with and I will then do that. We can set goals together for what you would like to achieve (e.g. do you want to boost your grades, or improve your question answering techniques? etc). I can help you learn course content or gain further understanding of the topics if you are aiming for higher grades. I can assist you to master exam technique and understanding different question types & marking criteria. I would describe my teaching as very fluid; I can help you with whatever aspect of your A-level study that you would like me to.

Personal Description:
As an A level student at one of the top Grammar schools in the country (Queen Elizabeth's Boys School) I know exactly what it takes to achieve the top grades in GCSE Biology, Chemistry, Maths. I myself acheived very high grade 9s in these subjects at GCSE so I know what the mark scheme requires first hand. I can teach you the tips and tricks that I used in order to obtain these grades. I am passionate about the passing on of knowledge to younger students so that they can achieve their academic goals. I understand learning can be challenging and that is why I will motivate students to love the subjects they study.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience in tutoring children in KS3 Science both at Queen Elizabeth's Boys School and elsewhere and I have developed a deep understanding for how to help students achieve their potential.
In addition, I currently tutor students part time at my school for their GCSE exams and work as a mentor for many students who are hoping to ace their exams.
I have developed a wide range of effective teaching methods that I can successfully tailor to individuals. I believe all students can achieve their goal with the right support and guidance.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that all students have unique needs and learning styles. I always feel it is best to identify the strengths and weaknessses in the subject so I can plan a good course to follow to better undestand and prepare studetns for the exams.
Whether you need help with specific topics, or want to work on exam technique I can provide the support that you need to excel.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Maahi, and I am currently a student at St Dominic's 6th form, studying Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at a level. I received an outstanding set of GCSE grades and my set of results was even published in the school newspaper. I like helping younger students in any way possible, in year 10, I helped those who have come from foreign countries or have a lower reading level and have difficulty reading to become fluent readers through a 'reading buddies' programme. That was when I realised that I am good at teaching and helping students. After that I tutored the younger children in family and friends and helped them get amazing grades for SAT'S and gcse's and I want to extend this to everyone that wants to receive good grades and achieve their dreams. So now, i want to put my knowledge to some use- hence why i am here.

Teaching Experience:

I received 5 grade-8's in my Gcse's this year, including Biology, Chemistry, physics, maths, english literature, and 4 grade-7's in french, history, further maths, english language. My revision techniques are clearly effective and want to help students who want to learn and set their goals in life. I can also help with giving advice for a levels as I am currently studying biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at a level myself. There are multiple different ways to learn and I can help find the right way to learn for you. After having tutored many of my friends and family in the younger years, I realised that I have a passion for teaching as I can make even the most mediocre thing interesting and understandable. I am open to teaching online virtually, so you don't even have to travel anywhere- all at a reasonable price! Each lesson will be approximately an hour long, whenever at your convenience as long as I can find time on my schedule as well to teach.

Tutoring Approach:

I have previously had experience teaching younger children including cousins, family friends, younger students at my school, other tutoring companies.
