I am an independent tutor with a strong scientific background and have lived in England since Aug 1965. Most of my school and college education took place in Dudley (West Midlands) and I studied Biochemistry, at Leeds University (1975-8). I am married and have lived in Cheshire since Dec 1978. We have a son and a daughter; both graduated from Universities in Manchester. Following my voluntary redundancy from AstraZeneca, (Jun 2008), I am now a self-employed Tutor / Consultant. Teaching Experience:
During my long service in the Pharma industry (~30 years), I have run many short courses and workshops. During 2005/6, I mentored a pupil (Year 10/11) at St. Peter's High School, Longsight, organised by the University of Manchester. In the past, I have also been responsible for organising and running the weekly classes at the Sikh Temple (Gurdwara), for teaching youngsters the Sikh way of life & Punjabi culture, in helping to improve their knowledge and integration into the Western Society over a period of ten years.

At the beginning I like to get a feel for what level of knowledge students have, and together we set goals for what we wish to achieve (e.g. time remaining until the exam, what grade they wish to achieve, if there is any particular section they are struggling with, etc..). Preferably, I like to communicate with my students before the lesson, so we can decide what learning outcomes to focus on during our session, so we can both prepare beforehand.

Hey I'm Abdul. I'm currently studying Computer Science at the University of Leeds. I passed my 11+ and attended Wilson's School and I absolutely loved my time there. When studying for my GCSE's, I struggled quite a lot with Chemistry and so I decided to get a tutor. After a few months of receiving tuition, there was a noticeable improvement in my grades and I achieved a grade 9 in Chemistry GCSE and later on studied it for A-level and achieved a grade A. With online tutoring now just as common, I also tutor students in Dubai British Schools and students in China to help them prepare for smooth transition to UK education system.

I am a versatile full-time tutor with experience in teaching comprehensive, independent, boarding, and overseas school students online, during a lesson we review exam papers and focus on the questions to highlight the necessary skills and knowledge needed to attain higher grades. Once we have identified gaps in subject knowledge we can then focus on specific skills and topics to build confidence and understanding.

Tutoring Approach:
Lessons are personally tailored according to student's needs, agreed goals and potential so that the best positive outcome is achieved. As part of the broader plan, we will go through range of papers and guidance is provided to understand the questions and how to structure answers and clearing out any misconceptions.

Having earned straight Grade 9s and 8s in my GCSEs and completed A-levels in the UK, I know what it takes to excel academically. I'm here to share the tips, strategies, and support that helped me thrive. I can't wait to meet you and support your learning journey!

Teaching Experience:
While I may not have extensive formal teaching experience, I bring a wealth of practical knowledge and proven strategies for tackling exams and tests-gained through my own academic journey. I've also spent a few months tutoring Year 7 students in mathematics, which gave me valuable insight into how to support learners effectively.

Tutoring Approach:
Want to achieve Grade 9? Consistent practice with past papers-it's that simple. Having earned straight 9s and 8s in my GCSE subjects, I understand how crucial it is to master not just the content, but the exam technique and strategy that help you "play the game" effectively.

My lesson style includes:
1. Initial group chat with students and parents: understand goals, expectations, and identify strengths and areas for improvement.
2. Pre-lesson preparation: I ask students to send me their school materials a week in advance so I can tailor the session to match their curriculum-ensuring lessons feel smooth and never overwhelming.
3. Lesson time!
4. Homework assignments: reinforce what we've covered.
5. Progress updates: I regularly share a summary of what we've covered in the group chat to keep everyone informed.
