Hello. My name is Dr. Zara and I tutor students in the age group 13-18. I hold a Ph.D. in medical biochemistry and a PGCHE from the University of Kent. I am currently working at the University of Bristol.

I specialise in teaching Chemistry and Biology at A-level, specifically for OCR and AQA exam boards. I also teach Edexcel Biology (SNAB). I come across as a friendly, patient and enthusiastic tutor. I strive to make learning a creative and enjoyable experience, while always keeping the students goals in mind.

I was a student researcher in Church laboratory at Harvard Medical School. My research interest lies in synthetic biology and molecular biology. Currently, I am an undergraduate Biochemistry student at the University of Surrey.

When attending Sixth Form College of Farnborough, I tutored AS Chemistry students from 2013 to 2014. This tuition was set up by the college in order to help new students understand difficult questions, equations or coursework. This was a great chance teach them simple tricks to help them overcome anything they struggled with.

Tutoring Approach:
With biology and chemistry, I believe it is vital to understand basic concepts before learning anything in a higher level of detail. Due to this, I believe it is important for tutees to be taught the basics of a topic before learning detail.
If the tutee seems comfortable with a topic and would just like to consolidate, I would test them with some questions from either past papers or textbooks. This will ensure that, they are able to apply their knowledge.

Also, I believe memorizing key terms and definitions is very useful in exams so I use flashcards or small tests during the beginning or end of the tuition session to test their understanding and make sure that they learn these key words and definitions.

My new approach to teaching includes making online presentations containing key concepts and diagrams that will help my tutee learn about a topic with a new perspective.

I left school with one A* grade, six A grades and four B's. A's being in English, Biology and Geography. I was also a prefect in school chosen for my level of drive.

During sixth form I was a student mentor where I helped GCSE students with their upcoming exams and acted as a person of support and welfare. I studied law achieving an A*, sociology achieving an A and psychology achieving a B grade.

I'm currently a third year psychology student at the University of Birmingham. As well as that I have a lot of experience in industry and working around the world. Hi, my name is Imi, and I am in my 5th year of Dentistry at the University of Bristol. At secondary school, I was a Peer Mentor for 2 GCSE students in Biology and Chemistry. We met weekly in the build up to their exams and went over topics they struggled with and I brought some of my own materials along to test their knowledge after we had discussed their mistakes. I learnt a great deal about different teaching styles from both students and how to be adaptable when the topic of discussion changed quickly. Additionally, for 2 years every week, I volunteered to teach disabled children how to swim at my local pool. This was a wonderful experience and developed my communication skills immensely as I had to cater to a wide range of disabilities. I feel passionately about making all of my tutoring sessions interactive, enjoyable and targeted to the individual student. I endeavour to make all of my tutees feel relaxed with me from the start, so that there's a comfortable environment, where they know that all their questions are valid and can be asked without judgement. Hello to all prospective students. My name is Mark and I have been teaching secondary level Science and maths for over 10 years. I am personally passionate about learning and endeavour to ignite the same love of learning in each student that I teach.

I have loved science and maths from a young age and went on to pursue a degree in biomedical sciences, prior to my secondary teacher training. I hope to continue to work with young people to help them realise their own goals in the fields of science and engineering.

Outside the classroom I am an avid musician and play guitar to grade 6 as well as writing and recording my own songs. I love to listen to audiobooks about ancient history and geopolitics, often whilst on a long walk in the countryside. I also like to play some sports and swim occasionally.

My initial goal whilst tutoring will be to assess a pupils abilities in each aspect of the subject, before moving on to anything specific. The logic behind this method of tutoring is to fill in any small gaps in basic subject knowledge so the students have a strong foundation with which to build on. I am an aspiring Medic currently studying at Imperial College London, I have lived in London my entire life and love all parts of it. I am a judoka training many times a week looking to develop my skill and passion for the sport. I am passionate about learning as a whole and enjoy the endeavour. I teach Maths, Biology and Chemistry as those are my strongest subjects and the ones which I find myself researching the most in my free time. I achieved an A* in Biology and A in Maths and Chemistry, 9's in all 3 of them at GCSEs gaining <90% in both my Maths and Further Maths Paper.

I volunteered with IntoUniversity, for a year, to help kids who would struggle in school to develop their studying skills and their communication. It was a very unique experience for me and was extremely engaging and one of the main reasons I would like to do tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:
I would like to tutor in a way that I have found the most effective to learn. I find that by gaining a deep understanding of the content learning it becomes much easier and memorising it will no longer feel like a tedious chore. I have been working with children and teaching for over 20 years. I love teaching children of all ages. I really enjoy seeing children progress and their confidence grow. This is one of the reasons I really like tutoring, due to the progress being so rapid.

I live in Nuthall, Nottinghamshire with my husband and two children. Since having children, I have worked part time in schools and also I have done lots of tutoring.

Although I enjoy teaching a variety of subjects in Primary schools, I enjoy teaching maths the most. I think this is because I found it so hard at school. I really understand the barriers a lot of children have in maths and love to help them to develop a love of it.

I have worked closely with children who have additional needs throughout my career and I have attended lots of training in the past to support this.
