I am a very friendly and welcoming practicing professional painter and sculptor, working from my home studio in Wimbledon.

I graduated from Wimbledon College of Art, (UAL) in 2012 with an MA in Fine Art and in 2011 with a BA in Fine Art.
I work in sculpture, drawing and painting.

I exhibit in London and regional group exhibitions.

I visit regularly museums and art exhibitions in London and very happy to take students with me on my expeditions for looking and sketching.

I teach all ages, but specifically specialise with year 7's, 9-12 yrs old, common entrance and scholarship students.

I have a gifted student currently who is building a portfolio for submission for a scholarship as part of 11+ examinations. I have also tutored a gentleman in retirement who wanted to create a portrait of his grand daughter. I have students that wish to simply discuss art, and we do so in person phone and online. I take into account experience knowledge and ambitions and devise a structural plan for progression. I draw up a list of artists for the student to study, both contemporary and classic. I reference writers artists of all sorts in specificity for the student that is ongoing throughout the teaching sessions. I hope my students also to make their own research, and to bring to light their own sources of inspiration and reference. I encourage documentation both of resource and personal note making.

I have taught in the UK for over 10 years and have extensive experience in teaching Art at A-level and at GCSE. I see myself as a 2D specialist as I can do a number of different techniques and have an experimental approach to teaching Art. Every project is unique and I am constantly learning. I will be able to do printmaking with students, painting, textiles, some Adobe photoshop work and basic construction work. I would work with the student to find out exactly what their special skill is in Art. Students will need to find a topic that inspires them and do some visual research on this and I would then help the students by teaching them a range of different techniques, learning how to draw in a number of media from pencil, chalk, oil pastel, pen and ink, biro and graphite and then teach them how to paint in gouache, acrylic, watercolour and use a mixed media approach. Textiles is also a medium I would offer students and basic construction techniques. Adobe photoshop skills is also important in developing photographic images as part of the development. Developing different skills until the student finds out what they particularly enjoy working with and helping the student to explore different media to extend their ideas and lead the students up to developing a final piece. The students would then have a whole project from beginning to end which will help with portfolio development.

I have been a loyal student to BCU, where I obtained, both my Fine Art degree and my MA in Art and Education Practice. Planning for my PhD research study too. This post will help me through my research and will give me a good access to both teaching and research. I have been looking for this opportunity to teach alongside my PhD study.
I became a practicing artist and researcher in the subject of Britishness and modern values since 2003. Working from my studio as well as researching . I am interested in culture diversity and community. I am quite focused on research and combining my work with strong evidence. I also have been teaching Arabic and have strong knowledge of the Middle East culture and I can give support to students coming from the Middle East, including helping them to gain confidence and engage with other fellow students. I also have great experience with special needs, being a mother of an autistic boy.
I have been developing my research skills for 13 years. I am quite an independent researcher and always looking for new methods to reach the maximum point I get to with my research. I primarily teach young people preparing for art portfolio presentations and university entrance exams. I make a policy to teach from life using the traditional teaching methods and techniques of the great masters from the Italian Renaissance as this is how I was educated. This portfolio review helps me see previous drawings students have done which helps me understand how to construct our lessons in order to achieve success.

Over that period I taught over 1000 students and as Head of Foundation Studies, I supervised the instruction of many thousands more. I have been responsible for strategies, content, and delivery of that covered media from fine art drawing and painting, photography, concept design, animation, theatre design, graphic design, and illustration. My approach across these disparate and rich media is to enable students to understand the connections between theory and practice and of how to develop a creative process which is research and concept-led. I continue my practice as a painter in my studio in Crete while exhibiting most recently in galleries in Greece, Switzerland and Spain. My approach to tutoring is to work with the students regarding whatever project they may be working on. In some cases I write a project for them. I speak online face to face to each student once a week and encourage them to upload work in-between our meetings for advice and comment. I help the students to understand what it is to be a visual artist and how to discover their own creative process. I have worked for many years as an art educator, I am an A level moderator for an exam board which allows me to see work from around the country and enhances my professional development. I have also worked for a charity providing art programmes for those living with mental health challenges and this is an area I have really enjoyed.

Teaching Experience:
I have been an Art and Design teacher for many years working with young people from primary and secondary school age along with lecturing at FE level. I have experience working in a wide range of materials and encourage critical thinking and independent research skills. I am able to work with those who wish to use art for wellbeing alongside tutoring those working towards formal examinations; GCSE/A level/BTec. I have also worked with adults living with mental health charities and provided art workshops in the local community. Within the educational environment I was Head of Faculty in a large secondary school and I have also worked in private education. I have worked with students who have barriers to learning and I am creative in my problem solving. I have worked with high attaining students to develop their potential to the full. I am able to provide support to produce a high level personal study. I am able to support the compilation of a portfolio when applying for Higher Ed courses.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is friendly and I have good listening skills. I have a good sense of humour and enjoy finding creative solutions. I am able to set realistic targets with clear pathways to meet those targets. Creativity is a fantastic transferable skill and developing confidence to try out new ideas and build on strengths will positively impact on other areas of study. Having worked with many students in my teaching role along with young people to improve their wellbeing I bring my wide experience to tutoring. I receive training annually from the exam board I work for which gives me full knowledge of current attainment objectives and how to reach high levels of attainment. My work for a wellbeing charity was to provide art programmes to improve wellbeing to those with mild to moderate mental health challenges so I am also able to provide tutoring that is focussed on improving confidence.

Personal Description:
Hi! My name is Claudia, I'm a 26 year old artist, illustrator, and mum of one.

I work part time in a secondary school/sixth form as an art technician and a large part of my role is assisting our wonderful students with their projects. I often get allocated 1:1 time with students that are having a harder time than others in some way, and I find this element of the job particularly rewarding.
Due to the nature of my work, I have a good understanding of the current curriculum, as well as the GCSE and A-Level programs.

I graduated in 2019 with a bachelors degree in Fine Art from AUB, as well as a foundation diploma in Art & Design from UCA. Since graduating I have been continuously developing my own artistic practice and working on a wide range of commissions, alongside raising my little boy.

Teaching Experience:
As mentioned above, my teaching experience comes from working in a school/sixth form.

Tutoring Approach:
Art should ultimately be about personal expression and expansion. And it should be fun!! A big part of my approach is about helping my students to identify their own blocks and challenges, and then finding ways to push through these into new and exciting territories.
I'm a big advocate for daily sketchbook practice, and I offer my students all sorts of exercises and techniques that aid them in 'loosening up' and discovering their own unique style.
I can also assist with enhancing understanding of, and ability in, a range of more technical artistic elements (colour theory, perspective, accurate drawing etc)
