Tutoring Approach:
I tailor my lesson plans according to each individual as I believe that every student's learning is different. I have a MA in Production Design for Film and Television from Kingston University and a BA Hons in Furniture Design and Applied Arts from Edinburgh College of Art. I have worked in the film and television industry since 2004. I lead large teams of specialist designers, art directors, junior assistants, crafts people and construction teams. And I collaborate closely with other experts within the industry including cinematographers, directors and screenwriters.

A production designer designs the worlds in which the TV Drama or film is set. That includes working with location people to choose locations in which to film - and building sets in studios. It can also involve working closely with SFX teams. The role juggles creative vision with practical project management. It's a collaborative media/ industry and relies heavily on communication skills- visual and verbal.

I am a contemporary artist with over 14 years of experience in fine art, encompassing drawing (pencil and charcoal), oil painting, sculpting, and stone and wood carving. My expertise is rooted in six years of dedicated study in traditional, academic, and anatomical clay modelling, which has provided a strong foundation for my artistic journey.

I hold a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Edinburgh (2019) and a Bachelor of Arts from the Art Academy of Latvia (2017). Over the years, I have explored a wide range of materials in my sculpting practice, including clay, plaster, foam, polyester resin/fibreglass, wood, metal, stone, and fabrics. My extensive knowledge extends to mould-making and bronze casting, with a particular focus on creating silicone and plaster moulds. My approach to Sculpture / Art tutoring involves breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps, from foundational techniques like armature building and proportion studies to advanced skills such as finishing techniques and texturing.
In terms of Sculpture class curriculum planning, I focus on creating structured yet flexible lesson plans that caters to diverse learning styles and abilities. I emphasize hands-on learning by encouraging students to explore different art traditions and develop their own interpretations through practice and experimentation. I am a practicing nature inspired artist and illustrator and my art is in private collections around the World. I also have licensing representation and my artwork can be found on various items including greeting cards and jigsaw puzzles.

Teaching Experience:
I have been a tutor for adult education for over 15 years working for various organisations, as well as independently as a practicing teaching artist. I have an abundance of knowledge to share and can help students to realise their creative potential. I have experience of teaching groups of students as well as 1:1. I currently run online and in person workshops exploring painting practice.

I have a very down to earth approach and am patient and encouraging. I have helped many students start from scratch and develop their drawing and painting skills over time. My area of expertise is in painting, in particular oils, as well as knowledge in the application of a large range of other media including watercolour, gouache, dry media and mixed media etc. I can offer tailored learning for adult learners who are new to creating art or those who wish to improve and hone their skills.

Particularly well suited to students who don't fit neatly into one box: A-level and Foundation students uncertain which direction to take or which degree to apply for; those considering cross-discipline or joint honours study; degree students thinking ahead to an MA; and adults at any stage.
