I have taught in the UK for over 10 years and have extensive experience in teaching Art at A-level and at GCSE. I see myself as a 2D specialist as I can do a number of different techniques and have an experimental approach to teaching Art. Every project is unique and I am constantly learning. I will be able to do printmaking with students, painting, textiles, some Adobe photoshop work and basic construction work. But most importantly I do understand the exam boards at GCSE and at A-level and enjoy developing a project with the student to meet the assessment objectives of the exam board and in so doing taking the students through a journey of discovery where they can become empowered and passionate about their work. I would work with the student to find out exactly what their special skill is in Art. Students will need to find a topic that inspires them and do some visual research on this and I would then help the students by teaching them a range of different techniques, learning how to draw in a number of media from pencil, chalk, oil pastel, pen and ink, biro and graphite and then teach them how to paint in gouache, acrylic, watercolour and use a mixed media approach. Textiles is also a medium I would offer students and basic construction techniques. Adobe photoshop skills is also important in developing photographic images as part of the development. Developing different skills until the student finds out what they particularly enjoy working with and helping the student to explore different media to extend their ideas and lead the students up to developing a final piece. The students would then have a whole project from beginning to end which will help with portfolio development.

Welcome, artist friend! I am Calina and I have been studying art since 1986. I have created the way in this field for more than 35 years. Currently I live and create at my studio in Lower Earley (Reading). I love and I am pleased to expanding the field of Abstract Expressionism. I use simplified shapes with small details in the descriptive scenes.
A big part of my inspiration comes from the natural surroundings and through my travels. The main topic that I approach it is landscape, in all moods and mysteries. Through my art I would like to share with you different states of nature.The composition is balanced by the characters you always find in nature: different species of trees, wild animals and their world. The diversity of materials that I use helps me to create in the smallest details, impressions created about the natural world and our experiences with it.
My works can be found in numerous private and corporate collections throughout the United Kingdom and internationally. I can't imagine a single day without the colours, brushes and canvases.

Originally a ceramic designer working in the pottery industry I am based in Stoke on Trent. I worked for The Wedgwood group producing designs for companies, airlines and hotels such as The Waldorf, Langhams, Marks and Spencer and Concorde.

As a youngster I always enjoyed art and sold my first paintings in my early teens. I then trained and studied the history of art at Maidstone College of Art and at The University of Wales.

After a career in graphic design & communications I re-started my career as an artist in 2014. I have been a member of various art groups for several years and I have been fortunate to win awards at local art exhibitions.

Each task is checked for quality and completion before we move on to the next task. I provide direction in terms of research and references to inspire the student, based on their chosen themes, as well as examples and tutorials on using a range of materials and techniques. At the end of each session I communicate with the parent/carer and give them a clear report on what progress has been made and what tasks I have set to be completed for our next session.

It is important to understand that my role can only be to guide and demonstrate and not complete the work for the student, as this work would not be allowed in the student's GCSE/A-Level portfolio.

Having taught these courses, I know how demanding they are, but I also know how rewarding it can be for students to unlock their creative potential, given the right support.

I have a Master's in Fine Art from the Royal College of Art in London and I am a professional fine artist with 30 years' experience of teaching in the field of Art and Design. In 2014 I was an early adopter of teaching the visual arts remotely to a range of students from different countries and backgrounds. Over that period I taught over 1000 students and as Head of Foundation Studies, I supervised the instruction of many thousands more. I have been responsible for strategies, content, and delivery of that covered media from fine art drawing and painting, photography, concept design, animation, theatre design, graphic design, and illustration. My approach across these disparate and rich media is to enable students to understand the connections between theory and practice and of how to develop a creative process which is research and concept-led. My approach to tutoring is to work with the students regarding whatever project they may be working on. In some cases I write a project for them. I speak online face to face to each student once a week and encourage them to upload work in-between our meetings for advice and comment. I work as an Associate Lecturer on the BA Painting Programme at Camberwell College of Arts (University of the Arts London), as a mentor on the Turps Painting Programme and was invited to be a Visiting Artist at Goldsmiths for 2023, and again for 2024. I am also a Dissertation Supervisor for Final Year students at Camberwell on their BA Programme. I also teach writing for a wide variety of audiences. I have now just moved West to the Stroud area and am looking for new students and opportunities to share my passion for painting and all things creative. I am also an artist, selling paintings locally through various galleries, a writer and the illustrator of several published books.
