I have been the Head of Accounting since 2006, at a large Catholic Sixth Form College in Hulme, Manchester. I am 46 years old, living in Didsbury, South Manchester. I gained my degree in Economics and Finance in 1998 from Leicester University. I began teaching in 2002 so have many years of experience teaching Accounting.

During the first session I present a short questionnaire that I ask the student to fill in (honestly!) in order for me to assess their individual learning styles (right brain vs. left brain, use of visual stimuli etc), so that I can respond best to their needs. Every lesson will begin with an outline of the subject content and the intended aims. The key to success in maths and economics is to do it! I am both a qualified accountant and qualified teacher. I achieved an Honours Degree in Commerce from Napier (Edinburgh) and then was lucky enough to find an employer who would put me through my CIMA accountancy exams.

I worked as an accountant for 14 years, before making the decision to train as a secondary teacher (Business Education).

I have been teaching for 23 years - 20 years in secondary education and for the past 5 years I have been a College lecturer, teaching Accounting subjects from school to Degree level.

I also have worked with special needs students with different learning disabilities including Autism, Dyslexia, and ADHD.

My approach to Tutoring is one on one, each student is unique, with different learning abilities, and prefer different learning styles. There is no one size fits all lesson. One on one is beneficial to students, as a tutor I will have to continually assess each one academically and tailor my lessons to their particular needs. This way each child is able to achieve their full potential.

Small groups tutoring does work in certain situations where students are friends and prefer to learn together as they motivate and learn form each other especially in times of revision. My approach to tutoring will mostly depends on the individual's needs.

I passed my A.C.A. examinations to gain membership of the I.C.A.E.W. in 1996. After more than 30 years of finance experience, I retired in order to tutor full time. Teaching Experience:
I have three years experience of tutoring and marking. Prior to that I have 30 years of real-life experience in accounting and finance. This gives me the edge when making accounting, economics and business studies understandable to students.

My first degree in International History and Politics included Economics as a subsidiary. My professional accountancy qualifications are postgraduate level qualifications in accountancy. An additional bonus is that I hold a second degree level qualification in teaching English, which is an Ofqual regulated teaching qualification. My accountancy, business and economics students will receive coaching about how to ensure their answers are well-written and logical. This can lead to higher scores.

My students describe me as professional, approachable and driven. I coach adults over 18 online and resit students are welcome. I have great material including past papers. When we first meet we will discuss your learning needs so that I can develop a personalised learning plan for you. During each class, I initially explain the concept, then we work on a task together. As the next step the student tries an independent activity (often a past test question), then receives feedback from myself.

As a way to consolidate knowledge, I offer to set and mark an appropriate homework task for every booked lesson. This is optional, some students prefer to book more lessons!
