Hi there,
I'm a qualified science teacher and Head of Science based in London, who currently teaches in a secondary school to students aged 11-18. I teach all sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) to KS3 and GCSE (Edexcel and AQA specification), and teach A-Level Biology (OCR specification). I have worked within education for the past 10 years and really love working with young people to inspire them to achieve the best they can. I appreciate that it's not always possible to get the most out of every lesson and so some students may benefit from having a personal tutor to go over areas of difficulty and to fully grasp and understand the concepts to do better in school and in assessments.

I have worked with thousands on children in the past 10 years working within education. I enjoy the process of working with parents and students to evaluate what students' strengths and weaknesses are, and set relevant goals and smart actions to ensure progress is made both short and long-term. My main aim has always been to inspire, motivate and make students feel more confident. I believe everyone has the right to an education and that learning should be fun and for the long-term.
In addition to this, I have experience teaching students with special educational needs (SEN) or a learning difficulty, such as Autism, Aspergers, Dyslexia, ADHD. Coming from a background of researching Autism during my degrees, I worked in a SEN school based in Bermondsey and have also worked with several families during the past decade. I've had wonderful success managing their behaviour when difficult, but also coming up with creative strategies to ensure the learning is achieved.

A teacher is much more than someone who teaches you a subject, I aim to make students love learning, grow their confidence, and also give them advice on things they're struggling with. For me, every student is an individual and no one learns in the exact same way. It's so important to be adaptable and honest with learning, so I focus on delivering lessons based on your learning style and personality, using a variety of exercises and methods. I am very hands on when teaching, I think energy and perseverance brings the best out of each student. I also put problems into context and make sure to be creative, but once an idea is understood, I think the key emphasis is to practice and repeat. I work with a lot of structure and am very organised which allows students to not feel overwhelmed with the amount of information, but to rather understand it in very easy applicable steps and for the long-term. I also think it's important to transfer these skills to the students I tutor so I will ensure I support them with their organisation and work ethic, by mentoring them.

I`m a professional singer and guitarist graduated in modern singing (BAhonsConservatory of Music) drama (Acting Diploma) and performance technique ( Tech Music School Diploma) With over 10 years experience as a coach, mainly working with children and young people.
I`m currently on stage in the West End and I dedicate my time off to one of my biggest passions, which is teaching. I'm a native Italian though I've spent most of my life abroad, due to my career, mainly living in the Uk in the past 15 years.

I first began to take interest in education in late 2016 during my second year of studies at Falmouth University, after undertaking 'skills for music leaders' module, where I studied different approaches to formal and non-formal music education. In September 2017, I have taken my ambitions to teach guitar further and fully dedicated my third year of studies to learn about ethics in music education, and began work experience with Cornwall Music Service Trust. I have shadowed 3 guitar teachers as well as 1 violin teacher and learned how to work with children aged between 6-16. I have actively engaged during the lessons, and helped as much as it was possible. I observed their teaching style and studied how to apply it into my own practice, gaining very good references

I have completed 'skills for music leaders' during my second year studies and dedicated the rest of my time researching ethics and practical teaching strategies in music education. I have completed a year of work experience with Cornwall music service trust shadowing their teachers and learning their teaching styles. My name is Kateryna and I am currently studying at Aston University, Birmingham where I am completing my Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience. Prior to my University studies, I attended Adams' Grammar School in Newport, Shropshire where I completed my A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In addition to my studies at University, I work part-time as a domiciliary care worker, working with senior adults in their homes to ensure they live as independently as possible.

In terms of my interests outside of studying and working, I love all things outdoors- in particular walking and biking. In the summer months I take great joy in watersport activities such as, wakeboarding and bodyboarding.

Whilst being a student myself, I have tutored first year BSc Neuroscience university students during the course of their first year in order to bridge any gaps in their knowledge of first year content. Having experienced tutoring myself in both A-Level Chemistry and Physics, I have great insight into what I believe makes a good tutor and what tutees who do require additional support actually want from their tutor.
In my opinion, my approach to being a successful tutor is building confidence in tutees by exploring what they already are successful in to encourage the idea that requiring additional help is perfectly normal and nothing to be insecure about as they can already prove to themselves that they flourish already in other parts of academia. However, once we have identified areas of a subject that they feel not so confident in, my approach is to tackle the basics first, from which more detail can be brought about with ease. After graduating with a Mathematics degree I worked at the University of Manchester for a number of years and also gained an Msc in Epidemiology (Medical Statistics). I have gained most of my practical teaching experience from my time in the NHS, where I worked as an information specialist. I gained a PGDip in Management at Bradford University and went on to work at all levels in the NHS, ending as being the National Director for Analysis. In that time I have taught mathematical and statistical skills to hundreds of NHS analysts, and delivered degree level research training to staff at all levels for over 20 years,

In 2018 I set up my own training and consultancy business which aimed to teach, train and support staff at all levels in their use of data and I subsequently was awarded the Northern Enterprise Awards "Best analytics and research training provider - Yorkshire" in 2021.

This experience has made me ideally placed to understand the different ways that people learn, and the areas that can be seen as difficult. The training skills I have developed means that I approach tutoring in a different way than those with a formal PGCE which can be of great benefit.

Every learner is different, so I like to find an approach that works with each of my students. Having taught people who struggled with subjects at school I try to find easy examples to illustrate particular concepts. I also believe that humour is a key part of the learning environment, and that learning should be enjoyable as well as educational.

While I am happy to meet face to face, I find that online tutoring works equally well and has the advantage of being able to record sessions that can be used by the student when revising. The use of interactive whiteboards still provides a great learning experience, and whiteboards can also be saved for the student to use later.

After qualifying as a teacher from Oxford University's specialised teacher training college I entered business and have held many senior positions as Commercial Director (e.g. Wembley Stadium) and Chief Executive of medium to large business mainly in the service sector. Complemented with 6 years experience as a global management consultant with Deloitte Consulting, one of the "Big Four" global firms.

I moved into Higher Education as a both a Senior manager (Director) at the University of the Arts London and subsequently as a Lecturer at the University of Kent (Visiting Fellow in Entrepreneurship).

I have 3 grown up children and I live in the UK.

I qualified as a teacher of English and Drama from Oxford University's specialised teacher training college. My teaching experience started with developing executive training programmes in Finance and management assisting a group of local Chief Executives of small businesses. This developed my interest in teaching and I subsequently took a role as Visiting Fellow in Entrepreneurship at the University of Kent in Canterbury UK. At the same time becoming an adviser to the UK's national Body promoting Entrepreneurship (the NCEE).

In 2017 I took a teaching role in China as Business Teacher in the International Baccalaureate curriculum a the Canadian International School of Hefei also teaching business related programmes in the New Brunswick Canadian Curriculum to students aged 16 to 18. I subsequently became Head of the Humanities department and left the school after 8 years, in 2025.

I believe every individual has their own way that they find easiest to learn and absorb most easily and part of being an effective tutor is to identify the learning style of students and this is achieved through careful listening, observation, discussion and modes of work (speaking, writing, drawing) etc). In the IB the overall approach os concept based learning where students are helped to develop tbeir own powers of deduction, reasoning and problem solving and this is my approach to tutoring (and teaching). On a practical level this means alot of discussion between me and students leading them to develop their own answers as much as possible to business options, issues and questions. In this way I find students retain what they learn. A blend of teaching methods helps to keep the lessons engaging and interesting. For example sometimes I will provide a ppt and use this as a discussion point at other times discuss a piece of written homework. I would characterise my approach as patient, creative and practical with the theory explained in some cases based on my own business experience.
