Personal Description:
I have had a passion for Physics from a young age, deciding then I wanted to study to degree level. Once completing my masters degree I worked in industry for 3 years doing blue sky research for BAE SYSTEMS. I decided that, whilst the intellectual rewards were great, I wanted to work more closely with people which prompted my move into teaching.

Teaching Experience:
I am a currently practicing teacher with 20 years experience at a high achieving independent school. I have experience teaching a range of abilities: from straight A students to students struggling on the D/E borderline.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe students progress best when they are confident to give problem solving a go. As a tutor I will go through the theory with tutees but my prime focus will always be how we apply that theory in practice. I expect tutees to be willing to make mistakes whilst working on problems with me so I can see where the flaws in their understanding are and help them correct them. I will also expect tutees to submit work for me to mark outside of our sessions so I can assess their progress.

I graduated from the University of Liverpool with an honours degree in Mathematics and Financial Economics and have also completed a further Mathematics course at Liverpool Hope University.

Teaching Experience:
I currently work in a secondary school in the Liverpool area and I have worked in the schools for the past 12 years teaching pupils in classes, small tuition groups and on a one to one basis.
I have an extensive knowledge in preparing pupils for exams, whether it be secondary school entry exams, GCSE or A-level. This has come from working in various schools doing intervention classes, both independently and as part of my further Maths course in University.
As well as teaching in the UK I have been fortunate enough to go on a charity project to India over the summer holidays where i was able to teach in two Tibetan school, which has given me a wider perspective on teaching.

Tutoring Approach:
The first session is always used to get the know the student, find out what they want, what their strengths and weaknesses are and how we can develop these to reach our target grade/level. This is done by creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where the student can feel they are able to approach me with any problems or queries. By finding out the above information and creating such an atmosphere, i am then able to build their confidence and understanding in Mathematics.
I also aim to use the same approaches as i do in my classroom, where the students can see how they are doing and how to reach the next level. Regularly little assessments will take place as evidence of pupil progression.
Pupils will be encouraged to try hard and aim to reach the highest possible grade they can.

I am a mother of four sons and have over 15 years teaching experience. I enjoy the outdoors and keep fit by jogging and practicing yoga everyday. I am highly motivated and enjoying learning new skills currently I am learning Spanish.

I am also tutoring younger students in their creative writing. I am interested in drama, poetry and art. I have performed spoken-word poetry in Manchester and headlined a couple of nights.

I like to make lessons interesting and encourage students to work creatively. We can work together to discuss an upcoming or recent exam and look at the strategy. We can also look at the syllabus and decide which aspects to focus on. Often it helps to work on structure and on managing time effectively in exams.

I believe that learning can combine fun and practical skills, such as self-editing, lateral thinking and creativity. These skills will help students pass formal exams through overall writing confidence.

Students need to enjoy the subject in order to understand it fully. When they approach questions from a position of confidence and relaxation, they can answer them more effectively. This sometimes involves discussion of the topics involved, especially when studying literature.

A tutor works best when they are providing an alternative to school-based education and a good tutor will enable their student to explore around a topic and to discuss any particular issues and concerns.

I am a qualified GCSE artist teacher and artist and manage a very successful multi-award winning art education business in Hertfordshire teaching children, teens and adults.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching since 2009 and have vast experience with both children and adults. I have taught for schools, galleries, councils, courses and also privately. I have been a loyal student to BCU, where I obtained, both my Fine Art degree and my MA in Art and Education Practice. Planning for my PhD research study too. This post will help me through my research and will give me a good access to both teaching and research. I have been looking for this opportunity to teach alongside my PhD study.
I became a practicing artist and researcher in the subject of Britishness and modern values since 2003. Working from my studio as well as researching . I am interested in culture diversity and community. I am quite focused on research and combining my work with strong evidence. I also have been teaching Arabic and have strong knowledge of the Middle East culture and I can give support to students coming from the Middle East, including helping them to gain confidence and engage with other fellow students.
