Noah - Finsbury Park tutor
Information About Noah:
Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Noah and I am a final year maths student at The University of Sheffield. To advance my teaching, I undertook a course at The University of Texas at Dallas which focused on teaching mathematics. I have always had a love for mathematics and enjoy helping others find the same joy in it that I do. My favourite part of maths is solving tricky equations!
Teaching Experience:
The main skill I learnt from the teaching course was, helping a pupil come to an understanding by allowing them to explain a concept in their own words, using guiding questions to gently correcting when needed. I have experience tutoring family friends, as well as helping children I baby sit with their homework. As a result of this experience, I learnt to adapt my communication style to make my lessons more engaging. I have also done volunteering teaching non-maths based skills to a variety of age groups. This has taught me the patience and the empathy required to encourage a students learning.
Tutoring Approach:
I have found that most misunderstanding comes from gaps in knowledge or from skipped steps that teachers do not cover. To combat this, I use a granular approach in order to solidify understanding. I have used this to enhance my own understanding and it has proved successful with people I have worked with as well.
