Teaching Experience:
During my teacher training year, I worked in a primary school, a grammar school and a boarding school where I taught English, Latin and Greek. My first teaching job was teaching English and English Literature to A' Level. Following the outstanding results of my A' Level classes, I was promoted to Head of A' Level English. I was also the Course Designer for all key stages, Assistant in Gifted and Talented and Line Manager of the Learning Resources Centre and the Integrated Learning Suite. I then became Head of Department and School Literacy Coordinator. The examination results of students dramatically improved under my leadership. I have worked for the examination boards Edexcel, AQA and CCEA , examining SATs, GCSE and A' Level papers. I also have recent experience teaching English as a Foreign Language.

I achieved my Trinity CertTESOL in January 2015. The certification process included teaching both group and individual lessons for a range of abilities from pre-intermediate to advanced. I was thoroughly stimulated by this course and enjoyed it immensely. I am now capable of going into a classroom and producing a well-thought out, appropriate and stimulating lesson that will help students of English to achieve their linguistic aims. In my former career as an IT consultant I coached, trained and mentored junior staff.

I teach Brazilian Portuguese with a focus on comprehension and natural acquisition.

There is no need to memorise grammar rules and vocabulary lists, because you will learn Brazilian Portuguese naturally and following the same principles by which we all acquired our native languages.

Hello, I'm Ruben and I've just started my career as a science tutor. Having recently graduated from the university of Bristol (BSc in Biology with first class honours) I'm now tutoring KS4 and A-level Biology for both young and adult learners.

I have experience as a research intern for labs at the University of Bristol and the University of Newcastle, and I'm currently volunteering as a part-time researcher for the London-Based Social enterprise 'Mapping for change'. In September I will be starting a research masters in evolutionary biology at UCL & the Natural History Museum, London.

Teaching Experience:
I have no official science tutoring experience to date. I was however leading regular revision sessions and presentations for my peers during my undergraduate degree, and have been regularly child-minding for a number of families in the last year.

Tutoring Approach:
Above all I aim for a co-operative learning environment, and to create sessions which suit the learning style of the tutee. A session starts by devising learning aims which are both worthwhile and manageable. My lesson plans then combine two approaches. For new material, I introduce concepts though existing knowledge, examples and written exercises. I prepare high quality notes for each syllabus to be used for independent study. To consolidate previously taught material, I reiterate concepts using case studies, note taking and Q&A sessions. In preparation for exams, sessions will involve working through past paper questions & developing exam technique. ¡Hola! I am Alba. I was born in the south of Spain and have lived there for the majority of my life. I did Spanish Studies as a degree in Huelva (near Seville), and later enrolled in an MA for Spanish Teaching as a Foreign Language in my home town, Granada. I then moved to the UK to work as an Assistant Teacher of Spanish in London, which led me to taking the PGCE course and acquiring Qualified Teacher Status. I am currently a teacher of Spanish at Secondary level in inner Birmingham.

Back in Spain I used to teach in an independent school in Ronda (Málaga), where we offered from one-to-one lessons to small classes of beginners to advanced level, and I absolutely loved it. In my experience, my students thrive in a more personalised environment of their choosing.

As a youngster I always enjoyed art and sold my first paintings in my early teens. I then trained and studied the history of art at Maidstone College of Art and at The University of Wales.

After a career in graphic design & communications I re-started my career as an artist in 2014. I have been a member of various art groups for several years and I have been fortunate to win awards at local art exhibitions.

I paint landscapes and figurative subjects in a suggestive and vibrant style, and draw inspiration from mood and atmosphere in the world around me. I exhibit and sell locally and my work is gaining in popularity in local galleries. I also run workshops.

I am inspired by my contemporaries who push the boundaries of their respective media. I am also often reminded of my early successes and the artists who inspired me as a student. My goals are to find new surprises by combining persistence with experimentation and 'happy accident'.

Teaching Experience:
I have been running weekly adult acrylic painting mini-workshops since February 2022. These have proved popular with beginners and experienced painters alike. I have also given one-to-one private tuition to several adult students.

My CELTA level 5 qualification in teaching English as a foreign language included teaching students of different ages and abilities from around the world via zoom.
