I`ve been tutoring Mathematics at all levels since 1996. Have an outstanding record of getting students top grades. I encourage a hard work ethic and discipline.

For A'level and GSCE students, material is taught as per their exam board requires, with plently of emphasis on the importance of past paper revision.

For younger children I specialise in Vendic Mathematics, subtraction via addition, estimate and adjust, etc. As well as applying the story book method to assist a childs memory techniques.

All students are taught about goal setting principles, motivating themselves and not settling for real and achievable standards.

I am married and have two children in their twenties, both in Higher Education. I am a qualified teacher, hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate and am up to date with current safeguarding training.
I love music, cinema and theatre and have spent part of my working life in professional theatre and television both as a performer and in production. I am widely travelled and well-read.

Teaching Experience:
I am an experienced teacher, having worked in Somerset as both a full-time KeyStage 2 class teacher (including 4 years of SATs experience) and as a Supply Teacher. I also taught pupils on the One to One Programme. My Level 5 (TQUK) Qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language is a useful skillset to draw upon when teaching English to SATs level pupils.

Often the barrier to learning is a lack of confidence and self-esteem. It's also important to be clear about what is being learned and why, what's expected of the pupil and how success can be achieved and celebrated. Above all it must be fun!

I grew up in the UK and then worked in Indonesia for 10 years, teaching Indonesian scholars on pre-departure academic programs. I also taught cross-cultural and study skills courses. After Indonesia, I moved to Australia, where I worked at two universities in Brisbane, the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. More recently I have worked on Exeter and Bath University's pre-sessional program. I'm a friendly, kind and patient person with a good sense of humour and I love teaching.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching for 20 years, mainly in the UK, Australia and Indonesia. I have experience working with English language learners at all levels and particularly at the university level. I can prepare students before their academic study or can assist them when they have already started university.
I am also very experienced in exam preparation. Most of my work has been on IELTS preparation courses (I used to be an IELTS examiner) but also on FCE preparation programs. I currently teach students in groups and one-to-one and I am available for Zoom classes.

Tutoring Approach:
I think it's important to listen to students and identify their individual needs. I try and see them as they are, without judgment and I also encourage them to see the facts about their language learning, rather than their opinions. Many students say they are 'bad students' and this does not help their learning. So I show them a different path where they can look at the specifics of what they are doing and how they can improve their skills step by step. This makes them feel better about themselves and their studies. It also gives them responsibility for their own learning.
I also bring humour into the classroom as I feel laughter is very important to the learning process. Some students have said that my classes are 'like being in a family' and I think that's a lovely compliment.

I have been a full-time tutor since 2004 and I cater for all levels, working with both young people and adults to improve their French. I also tutor Maths.

Many of my students are adults learning French for pleasure or business. I help students preparing for their GCSE and A Level. I also run classes for home-educated children, including children with dyslexia or on the autistic spectrum.

I have been a Biology teacher for 37 years. I am now retired and living with my wife in Hartland in North Devon.
We have four adult children.
I have taught in state schools and independent schools in UK and at International Schools in Africa and the Middle East. During my teaching career I have been Head of Biology for twelve years.
I have always enjoyed studying Biology and I like to think that I can pass my enthusiasm for the subject on to my tutees.

Twelve years at the Radclyffe School in Oldham, two years at St John Rigby Sixth Form College in Wigan and nearly five years at Shebbear College in North Devon where I was Head of Biology.

Nearly six years in Kenya at Hillcrest Secondary School, Nairobi where I was also the Head of Boarding.

I completed my overseas teaching as Head of Biology at Al Khor International School in Qatar where I taught for two years.

I have always enjoyed studying and teaching Biology which has effectively been my lifetime's work. I have extensive experience of teaching students from many different educational backgrounds and I have always been able to relate to my students and nurture an enthusiasm for the subject. I have a Degree from a School for Translators and Interpreters located in Brussels where I have studied English and Italian as foreign languages. I have lived in the UK since 1987.

I am 54 years old and I have been a self employed tutor for over five years. I live in Nelson and always travel to the homes of my students. I have taught students from 8 years of age to adults and all ages in between. I love tutoring my students, because it is teaching in its purest sense without all the pressures of teaching in school.

I have been teaching since 1989. I have taught in local secondary schools, including more than 10 years in a school in Burnley. I have worked in primary schools on a supply basis. I have a great deal of experience in teaching pupils and students with educational issues, pupils with statements of SEN, both behavioural and educational. When tutoring my students, it is crucial to establish a relationship with not only the student but the rest of the family. This helps establish a relaxed, and workmanlike atmosphere quickly so that progress can be made quickly. I spend the first few lessons establishing specific areas that need attention within the subject/s I am teaching. I am very well resourced with both text books and worksheets specifically designed for each student. I am well prepared for the new GCSE Maths syllabus and provide text books for pupils taking the 11+. I set homework by negotiation, and try to mark it before the next lesson, distance and time constraints allowing. Where possible I try to liaise with my student's teachers in school, but this can prove difficult.

I am an enthusiastic teacher of Physics with 17 years` experience. I enjoy hill walking and off road cycling. I am married with a son living away from home. I specialise in teaching A Level Physics and Cambridge Pre-U and have experience with all examination boards and with both A and B specifications.

Before becoming a teacher I had a wide experience of industry and also worked in two university departments: Trinity College Dublin as a Physics Lecturer and Durham University as a Computer Science lecturer.

I have spent most of my career in industry and left to train as a teacher in 2003 years ago. I taught KS4 and KS5 Physics at Emmanuel College and was Head of Physics at Barnard Castle school. Since my partial retirement I have taught Physics at Durham High School for girls in 2019 and 2020. I have now retired from full time employment and am available throughout the working day and in the evening to provide online tuition.

I always aim to build a warm and friendly relationship with my students. In my online lessons I typically spend about half the time reviewing the subject material and the rest of the time in working through questions with the student. I use an online whiteboard and send a copy of the notes from the session to the student. I generally supply additional work to be completed for the next session, although this is optional and depends on individual needs.

Hello potential students!

My name is David. I was an actor for 20 years, both as a hobbyist and a professional until becoming a writer. I still am both of those things (as well as a voice-over artist), but now would like to pass on my knowledge to other people and see if it helps them.

Until very recently, I worked in customer service for a myriad of companies--all to allow me the space and time to enjoy a career that was never fully stable. I enjoyed them, but only for the opportunity to meet new people and learn from them. True, I may be a tutor, but I will never stop being a student.

I also class as neurodivergent. For decades I lived with undiagnosed ADHD. Learning this was a surprise to many others around me, but not to me directly. The signs were not as well known back then, and somehow I had adapted to learn. These days, we adapt the teaching; so know that whatever background you have, we will find a way to learn together!

Teaching Experience:
Over one year as a private Tutor. Most of my students have been GCSE level (all exam boards) and a few have been adult learners wanting to know more, or Primary School pupils working to better their grammar.
