Personal Description:
Iain was born in 1986 in Dundee, Scotland into a large musical family, so unsurprisingly making music was all that he wanted to do from an early age. He first began to learn the trumpet in school aged seven, before joining his local brass band Dundee Instrumental on cornet at the age of ten. By the age of twelve, Iain had been promoted to principal cornet, a position he later went on to hold with several of Scotland's top bands, also including the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland. Many solo competitions were won along the way - including the junior section at the British Open Solo Championships at age eleven. Having gained two Trinity College diplomas before the age of eighteen, Iain took the advice of teacher David James and moved south to study music at the University of Salford, where his playing really began to blossom. Since then Iain has held positions as principal cornet with many of the UK's leading brass bands including his current seat with the world renowned Leyland Band. He has enjoyed many successful contest and concert performances, and is fast establishing a reputation as one of the finest cornet soloists of his generation, performing, adjudicating and giving master-classes as far afield as the USA, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Japan. In 2009 Iain was the recipient of a prestigious Dewar Arts award, awarded for performance in trumpet. This award allowed him to complete his postgraduate studies at Salford, graduating with an MA in Music (performance) in 2010. Iain is now a cornet tutor at the University of Salford where he is also undertaking researchinto focal dystonia in musicians, working towards a PhD. Iain recorded and released his first solo CD entitled "Vanguard" in August 2012, a release which has been met with great critical acclaim and has fast proven popular.
Iain is also an experienced guitarist and teacher of electric and acoustic guitar as well as the bass guitar.
Teaching Experience:
Salford University, Sefton Music Service, Love Music Trust, numerous private students, masterclasses and private teaching all over the UK as well as in the Netherlands, Denmark, USA, Japan, to name but a few.
Tutoring Approach:
Specialise in advanced students, performance, performance psychology, embochure related problems, and treatment of focal dystonia as well as other performance related problems.

Training in Maths and Physics requires a clear, solid, understanding of the key concepts and rigorous logic. The best approach towards Maths and Physics is to allow tutees to voice any possible doubts towards the subject and then clarify them while making it more solid. After that, consistent practice with real life problems and Past Paper questions, under guidance, will enable tutees to fully achieve their potential, ideally.
Finally, people achieve their best if they find something interesting. All my students so far have always find my teaching fun and enjoyable, making learning much more easy and effective! I believe this is the key to continued learning to maximise one's potentials.
- Interactive approach, clarifying doubts and questions towards subjects
- Able to phrase concepts and theories in clear and fun ways
- Work on past papers questions
- Tips and Advice for exams
- Solid training preparing skills that applies to any subject

Personal Description:
Hello, I live in Sunderland. I have a B A (Hons) degree and a Certificate in Education specialising in Maths and English and I have also attended relevant courses (for example in Dyslexia Awareness) and have a Counselling certificate.
Teaching Experience:
I have had approximately 30 years experience of teaching English and Maths and this has included helping pupils to prepare for the SATs tests and for GCSEs. I have worked with children and adults on a one to one basis and in groups and fully understand the needs of both.
I have had extensive experience teaching in schools and am therefore familiar with the requirements of the national curriculum at key stages 1, 2 3 and 4.
I also have a vast array of resources and past exam papers and can also create resources that are tailor made for a specific pupil.
Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy working creatively and will tailor learning to the particular interests of the pupil if necessary as I feel that this makes learning more interesting and meaningful for them. I have established excellent relationships with pupils in the past and have a sensitive, caring and thoughtful approach.
In the first session I carry out an assessment in order to get an idea of the needs of the pupil and use this as a trial session. Pupils don't have to continue unless they are happy with everything
If you need to cancel giving less than 24 hours notice then unfortunately I have to charge for the session as I will have prepared for it

Personal Description:
I have lived and worked in Plymouth since I finished me degree in 2001. I started as a full time private tutor in 2009 and have been tutoring ever since. I absolutely love this work and am extremely enthusiastic about helping others enjoy and succeed at learning.
I am married and am a mum of two young boys. My hobbies include sports, walking, art, reading, writing and volunteer work with my church.
I am currently away on further training so can no longer do my usual face-to-face lessons, but I am looking at building up my online students.
Teaching Experience:
I have over a decade of experience of helping children, teenagers and adults with their maths and English learning. Whether it is to salvage a struggling student, to catch-up, to succeed in an exam or to excel beyond their current level, I am passionate about helping and unlocking a student's ability to understand and to enable them to enjoy learning.
I hold a BSc degree, 3 A-levels (grade B, including maths), 9 GCSEs (7 As - 2 Bs) and am a graduate of Study Technology. I have been tutoring since 2009 and specialise in the 11+.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching style is to tailor all lessons and communication entirely to each student, as each student is unique in the barriers they encounter, and in their level of understanding of the subject. I direct the lessons at a pace, and with content, that the student can comfortably handle and make progress with. I also aim to ensure learning remains light and not too serious: I am friendly and ensure that my students are at ease in lessons so that they feel free to ask questions or to say if they don't understand something.
I aim to always make the lessons visual and interactive and set homework to reinforce what we cover in our lessons. I can post worksheets for the lesson/homework if needed.
I am happy to answer any questions you might have and I look forward to hearing from you.

Personal Description:
Hannah has worked as a full-time registered private tutor since 2009; she has since taught over 700 British and international students in one-to-one, classroom, and online lessons.
Hannah completed her undergraduate degree at the University of St Andrews and did her research project on the neuromuscular disorder Parkinson's disease. She then qualified as a Bowen Therapy practitioner before undertaking an international PGCE at the University of Sheffield. Following this, Hannah completed a Masters in Molecular Biology studying with the Centre for European Master's Programmes; her thesis focused on epigenetic mechanisms induced by oncoviruses and therapeutic interventions.
Teaching Experience:
Hannah specialises in preparing students for entry into medicine, dentistry, veterinary, and biological science courses at university with a focus on high-achieving Biology A-Level results. In addition, she also coaches students for the BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT), University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT), and the Test of Academic Reasoning for Admissions (TARA).
Alongside this, Hannah also taught in the French private sector at the prestigious Epitech Montpellier (École pour l'informatique et les nouvelles technologies, also known as the European Institute of Technology).
Since 2010, Hannah has also worked as a UCAS adviser supporting British and international students with their applications to UK universities. Hannah has a 100% success rate in interview invitations for students applying to G5 universities.
Tutoring Approach:
During her time teaching, Hannah has authored detailed notes on each topic on the A-Level course. She also has an extensive collection of exam questions and mark schemes, grouped together by topic to break down revision into manageable pieces.
Using their unique log in details, each registered student will have access to all these documents on the Tuition Matters website.
To supplement written notes, students often watch short videos that can help explain difficult topics more easily. Some students also choose to have homework to build upon ideas covered in the tuition lesson, this will then be marked together using the official exam mark schemes so that the student knows exactly what examiners are looking for in a high-level answer.
