Personal Description:
Hello,
I have completed my PhD in Creative and Critical Writing at UEA. I also have an MA (Distinction) in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway, and a First Class Honours Degree in English Literature. I also have a good Fine Art degree from Chelsea College of Art and Design. I have been a private tutor for twenty years, and have taught many children in that time.

I am currently tutoring in Wadebridge in Cornwall but can offer Skype or Zoom lessons.

I'm 49, married and am an aunt and godmother.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught at undergraduate level at university as well as writing skills in an academic skills centre. I have also taught SATs to thirteen year olds. I have a PTTLs degree level 4 qualification and taught on an Access Course to adult learners.

I have taught AQA and EDEXCEL syllabuses at GCSE and AQA at A-Level.

Please note that I do not teach any Eleven-Plus or verbal reasoning syllabuses and that I prefer to teach older children (13 plus)

Tutoring Approach:

I use past exam papers, model essays, and devote time and attention to close reading of set texts at GCSE and A-Level. I have also given art lessons.

I can also provide Skype and Zoom lessons and find this has been successful with older and university level students.

I have a friendly, professional approach and find I develop a real rapport with my pupils, who find their results and confidence improving with my tutelage.

Personal Description:
Here is a little bit about myself: I enjoy reading, watching television and playing cricket.

I am 55 years old and live in Redhill, Surrey. I am able to tutor the following subjects:

A' Level Mathematics, GCSE Mathematics, KS3 Mathematics, KS2 Mathematics, A`Level Economics and GCSE Physics.

I am available any day of the week, daytime as well evenings.

Before the first lesson is scheduled, I will pay to you in full for the cost of purchasing my contact details. As for the first lesson, if for whatever reason your child is unhappy with my tutoring style within the first 20 minutes, we will stop the lesson straight away and I will not ask any payment for it. This way you will not pay a penny for anything you are uncertain about.

Here is a testimonial from a parent of a child that I tutor:

A great tutor and always strives on making sure the student understands the topics. He teaches my son GCSE Maths and my son has improved since working with him.

He is very approachable and communicates well both with my son and with myself. I`m glad I found this website.

Teaching Experience:

I have more than twenty years of teaching experience, which includes one-to-one tutoring as well as school, college and university teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel very passionately about learning. Mathematics in particular is a challenging subject, but with hard work, patience and a willingness to learn from my mistakes, I have found it very rewarding. It is this same lesson I have learned which I would like to continue to convey to students.

A great emphasis is placed on helping students truly understand the subject material, rather than tutoring them to simply pass exams. My aim is to impart transferable skills beyond the field of studying, whether it be in the work place or students` personal lives. Encouragement is given to students to ask any questions that are concerning them.

Rather than spoon-feed them information, I interact with them by asking them to justify answers to follow-up questions I ask, and hence lead them to the solution as a result of their efforts.

My teaching style is such that I am able to empathise with students with respect to any learning and developmental issues which they may need support with. To achieve this goal, special consideration is given to identifying particular learning weaknesses and providing multiple approaches to learning which best suit the need of the student. This in turn makes the primary learning objective of understanding and advancement achievable as well as an enjoyable and productive experience.

Students are encouraged to chart their progress with my guidance by recording their assessment of specific topics throughout the year. This in turn would give them confidence leading up to their exams.

Personal Description:
Hi I'm Meghavi and I am a BSc Physics graduate from Imperial College London and I have a QTS (Qualified Teaching Status) at grade 1 - Outstanding. Currently, I work as a Consultant in the Digital Transformation space. I have always been interested in teaching, from my GCSE years, I began helping my friends with their school work. Moving to A level years I started helping out some of the teachers in my school to run after school sessions to help kids with their Homework. I would say I am very patient and will sit there till the concept is clear in their minds. I am not the kind of person who gives up easily so I will do what it takes to make sure an idea or concept is understood. As a person I am very friendly and bubbly. I like to have a good laugh and I'm a good listener.

As far as personal interests go; I love to travel, I love music, movies and Food. I enjoy cooking. I like trying out new things and exploring new places and meeting new people.

Teaching Experience:

My interest in teaching began when I started helping my sister with her school work. I started teaching in 2009. I worked at Kumon (one of UK's largest supplementary education provider) for a year. I then started tutoring AS Students for AS Physics at Lampton School which involved spending my free lessons and after school sessions to help them with any conceptual problems, homework, exam practice or just a recap of any topic in AS Physics. These students felt comfortable coming up to me at any time during or after school to ask any queries they had about the subject. (References Available)

I have helped out in Maths classes and planned my own lessons under the supervision of my teacher. I have also worked as a learning mentor at Lampton School and helped students with any homework or classwork in various subjects.

More recently (2013 - 2014) I have been a tutor for various students; teaching A Level Physics, A Level Maths and Further Maths, GCSE Maths, Primary Maths and GCSE Science (Biology Chemistry and Physics all inc).

Tutoring Approach:

Clearly each student is different, and so the way of teaching each one will be different. However I believe that if the foundation is strong nothing can go wrong. I will first try to ensure that the concept and the base of the subject is strong before we go on to a number of past paper questions and exercises. I believe that the best way to learn is to see how any problem can be tackled, go through the thought process and then apply what you know to the specific problem and solve it.

I will first see what the student finds most difficult and what their weaknesses are and then strive to overcome them. Each student will have their own learning methods, some may learn by understanding the whole concept then going into the exam questions, some want to go through exam questions while they are learning the concept to see how the theory can be applied to the problems. Some may learn visually with experiments or examples whereas others will learn through trial and improvement of their own. I will spend the first session finding out how they like to learn and design a program just right for that individual student.

From previous experiences I believe the key areas students need help in are:
- learning the foundation of the subject
- how to manage time in exams
- how to structure their answers in an exam
- lots and lots of practice
Hopefully once we start tutoring, the students will feel much more confident with the subject and the key to success for any exam is self confidence. I will always be their as a guide, a mentor, a friend to help them through what they find difficult.

I very much enjoy tailoring sessions specifically to each student I teach. I enjoy the satisfaction tutoring brings when the student gains a new understanding of their subject and when we unlock potential together. Confidence is key and I enjoy seeing this grow throughout our sessions.

I have been a professional theatre actor and freelance drama teacher for ten years. As an actor, my passion for language helps me to understand and analyse literature, and I enjoy applying my politics degree to the work of playwrights. Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified teacher of Biology and Environmental Science to A Level, and Maths and the three Sciences to GCSE. I taught for many years in both the private and state sectors.
A semi-retired Environmental Scientist, Zoologist and Freshwater Biologist, I am also fluent in Spanish and German, having spent many years living in Latin American countries, working for German and British multinational companies.

Teaching Experience:

I taught GCSE Science (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) and Maths and A-Level & IB Biology and Environmental Science in both the state and private sectors for many years. I have tutored students in these subjects and levels during the past 10 years, with excellent results almost always surpassing the student's predicted grades..
I have also supported Spanish-language classes and individual students at GCSE level, and have worked on conversational Spanish with adult learners.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the key to successful tutoring is to provide the help, support and encouragement the student needs. Unlike a classroom setting, the agenda is and must be driven primarily by the student. Thus my first task is always to help students identify their strengths and weaknesses, and what they want to get out of the tutor sessions. From this we jointly develop a strategy and plan of action. I then tailor my approach to fulfil the student's requirements.

Robin MMus, BMus (hons.), ATCL (dip.), MISM teacher Singing, Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums and Composition (including Theory).

Teaching Experience:

I began teaching group lessons in school. After leaving school, I began training for the classroom, but I did not feel I could impact the individual in such a large group environment. While maintaining strong links with school curriculum, I began to pursue my career in individual instruction. My home based tuition serves approximately sixty five pupils at a time and my online lessons support many more, depending on the time zone. I have taught students in Australia, the Middle East, France, Russia and a variety of locations around the British Isles. With such a large cohort of students I offer a variety of syllabuses and qualifications. These are embarked upon at the student's request. Lessons are Student-Centred, so the Teaching Method fits the Student.

Tutoring Approach:

I started teaching in 1993 and have been offering a pupil centred approach to happy and successful students ever since. I teach classically, although not necessarily Classical. Whatever your style, you will learn how music works. This helps you to develop your musical skills.

I have a Teaching Diploma which guides my principles and practise in teaching, a BMus which covers general history and performance - I have also have performing experience with a high point of 144 concerts in 2007. My MMus underpins analysis.

Personal Description:
My name is Toby, I am 19 and have just come back from a year abroad in France. I currently work as a lifeguard and musician and am heading to Reading University to study french and business in september. I am a fluent french speaker who is fresh from learning the language to fluency, so am very much in touch with the language-learning process from a student's point of view - I know exactly where the hudrles lie and how to overcome them.

Teaching Experience:

I studied french up to A Level and took a year out in France, working as an Au Pair to the Marquis de Biliotti family at the Chβteau d'Anjou in Lyon. I was in the highest class level at my Lyon university (C1/C2 class) and learned the language fluently. I have experience teaching English to children in France, and have worked as a telephone translator and PA translator.

Tutoring Approach:

I am flexible with my sessions; I can work on specific topics with which the pupil struggles, grammar, pronunciation and phonetics, vocab etc as well as approaches to language learning; analysing areas for the pupil to work on and giving resources, apps, videos and advice to help further their independent learning.
I can also work through set syllabuses, workbooks or other related set-works with the pupil.
(I will build sessions around my current working hours.)

I am a CELTA-qualified English teacher with 15 years of teaching experience. I have a Master`s Degree in English Language and Literature and Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I provide face-to-face and online English lessons from Beginner to Advanced levels. I also provide FCE, CAE and IELTS exam classes. All sessions are tailored to your particular needs. Materials provided are included in the price.

Teaching Experience:

I obtained my Master`s degree in Hungary in 2001. I taught English as a Foreign Language in a high school in years 8 to 12 for a year in 2002/2003. From 2003 to 2008 I was teaching English as a foreign language in a secondary arts school in years 9 to 13. I was a class teacher for 4 years and I also acted as an interlocutor at A-level exams every year. I was interpreting on visits to our partner school in Florence and translated educational materials from English to Hungarian. From 2003 to 2004 I taught two evening classes a week in a language school. Ever since I finished my university studies, I have had private students of English. From teaching general English, through preparing students for their A-levels and language exams, I have also delivered conversational and specialist English classes too (e.g. Business English, English for Hospitality and Catering) In 2011, already living in London, I completed the CELTA course with the intention of teaching English to international students. After the course I have started teaching English according to the new method. My classes have been home-based one-to-one and online English classes. In August 2016 I joined Edgware Academy, a language school in Central London. Since then I have taught groups of all levels, from Beginner to Advanced. I have been teaching students from all over the world.
I have access to the school`s rich collection of teaching resources and continuously make use of online resources (texts, visuals, videos and exercises) available on the Internet.

Tutoring Approach:

I can help you improve your general English to sound more like a native speaker and sound more professional in the workplace, or prepare you for job interviews.
I am an approachable teacher who is a patient listener, reliable, understanding and encouraging.
My General English classes are highly communicative. I make sure to maximize student talking time through creative communicative activities. I equally focus on improving students` listening, reading and writing skills, as well as grammar and vocabulary.
I can help you prepare for the Cambridge language exams and IELTS. Once you become familiar with the exam structure and expectations, you will realise it is achievable. I will guide you through the preparation process.

Personal Description:
My name is Jo and I live in Balloch.
.I have 37 years of dedicated service in education, I recently retired after a fulfilling career focused on enhancing children's learning. For 15 years, I served as a Principal Teacher in a large, diverse school in Glasgow's West End, where I led teams and supported whole-school improvement. As Literacy Leader of Learning for 6 years, I championed innovative approaches to reading and writing across the curriculum.

Teaching Experience:

For the past six years, my role has been Challenge Leader of Learning/Principal Teacher in a large school in the West End of Glasgow. Through the Literacy for All CPD training and guidance courses that I have attended, my remit has been to improve reading, writing , talking and listening as part of the Scottish Attainment Challenge with the focus on giving all children the same opportunity to succeed, with a particular focus on closing the poverty related attainment gap and promote equity for all. This year due to Covid 19 I have had to develop my digital literacy skills in order to home school through Google Classroom, Seesaw and Teams. • A member of the Senior Management team within a large school, collaborating on improving all areas of the curriculum using HGIOS4. SIP, Standards and Quality Report, Education Perspective Report and shared vision, values and aims with colleagues. • I am committed to the inclusion of all children and developing the potential in all children by removing barriers to learning, families and staff. I evidence this by collecting quantitative data, people's views and direct observation. • To cultivate an environment of professional engagement, dialogue and collegiate working. Moderating reading, writing and assessment of pupil's skills. • Leading a PEF team of two highly experienced teachers to track and target individual children's progress through formative and summative approaches (I plan reading, writing lessons through experiences and outcomes that specifically meet the children's learning needs.) • Work collaboratively/team teach with colleagues at all stages to implement literacy circles, reciprocal teaching and stem a story. • Plan and deliver CPD opportunities for teachers on Early Learning, Scotland Reads, Reciprocal Teaching, STEM a story, Word Aware and Routes Through Writing. • Developed my own Busy Little Fingers writing skills programme and implemented across early stages. • Plan training days for Support for Learner Workers that give them strategies and skills to improve children's learning. • Update staff on Glasgow Improvement Challenge on in-service days and school business meeting. keep them informed of recent

Tutoring Approach:

I offer flexible tutoring options to suit your family's needs - online lessons, sessions at my home, or in the comfort of your child's home.
My approach is centred around engaging each child by connecting learning to topics they genuinely enjoy. I believe that sparking curiosity and making learning relevant can inspire even the most hesitant learners, helping them grow in confidence and develop a love for learning.
