I am a postgraduate from the Documentary Photography course at Univeristy of Wales, Newport (graduated in 2000). I have worked as a professional freelance photographer since graduating giving photography classes, workshops and conferences to students of all levels and ages. I have extensive experience a reportage photographer, not only in undertaking magazine assignments but also wedding and portrait work. As a photographer and tutor I can offer an in-depth knowledge of darkroom practice as well as digital software editing(i.e. Photoshop, Capture One Pro, Lightroom), having worked both with film and digital media for the past 15 years.

I have over ten years experience in giving photography classes and workshops to young learners (residential camps giving classes to children aged 11-16 years of age) and adults at all levels and abilities. My approach to teaching is contextual and task based. I plan and work to the individual needs of the pupil(s), making sure that the classes are instructive, concise and interesting. I believe with these elements the student feels more stimulated and the information in the learning process is absorbed more easily. Above all I concentrate on the student's individual learning potential by giving them the confidence as well as positive and constructive feedback throughout the lessons. I am Marcin Bernard, an artist and art educator who mainly specialises in painting and sculpting on wood and stone. I have been painting and sculpting since twelve years of age. I completed MFA in Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk in Poland. I have currently moved back to the United Kingdom with my family and am loving in York.

I genuinely enjoy working together with the students. When I conducted a stone carving workshop at NIE( National Institute of Education) in Singapore, where I taught students how to transfer 2D ideas to 3D but carving directly onto limestone, it can be an upheaval task for students but to scaffold them to visualise their plan, see through the process from beginning to the end, problem-solving, tweaking, translating the 2D idea into 3D effectively, seeing them succeed and execute, gave me the feeling of satisfaction and joy. I realise then this is what I want to do, to teach. It was very different from an artist satisfaction.

My approach is to find out the strength as interest of my students and to guide them to develop them and also to work ideas and think through their narratives and purpose of their work of art or art project. I have a Master's in Fine Art from the Royal College of Art in London and I am a professional fine artist with 30 years' experience of teaching in the field of Art and Design. In 2014 I was an early adopter of teaching the visual arts remotely to a range of students from different countries and backgrounds. Over that period I taught over 1000 students and as Head of Foundation Studies, I supervised the instruction of many thousands more. I have been responsible for strategies, content, and delivery of that covered media from fine art drawing and painting, photography, concept design, animation, theatre design, graphic design, and illustration. My approach across these disparate and rich media is to enable students to understand the connections between theory and practice and of how to develop a creative process which is research and concept-led. I continue my practice as a painter in my studio in Crete while exhibiting most recently in galleries in Greece, Switzerland and Spain. Hi, my name is Iman. I am Egyptian and a native Arabic speaker with 16 years of experience in teaching Arabic. I teach both Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and Egyptian dialect, and I also have experience in setting and marking exams for both.

Usually, I begin my teaching by assessing the students and discussing their objectives. From there, I discuss with them my tailored course plan.

I believe that teaching language and culture are inseparable.
