Teaching Experience:
I have been a personal tutor for over 12 years, helping many students with maths and sciences, mostly at GCSE level. In addition I have experience as a Lecturer at The University of Huddersfield and at Wakefield District College. Where I taught computer science and I.T.

Since 2000 I have been looking to focus more on music and to develop this as my specialism. I can assist with Music theory up to around Grade 5 and Piano and Keyboards from beginner to intermediate level.

Tutoring Approach:
Individually tailored to the student. I prefer a sytematic approach, followed up by individual study by the student. I regularly assess student progress to ensure full understanding and encourage background reading for breadth of knowledge.

I graduated from Cambridge University with a BA in English Literature, and then from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, graduating with a BA in acting, where I was the recipient of the Noel Coward Scholarship from 2008-2011. In July 2011 I won the Michael Bryant Award at the National Theatre, for verse speaking and Shakespeare.

Whilst at secondary school I taught reading skills to children who had low reading-ages.

I wrote a thesis on the connections between Maths and acting whilst at Guildhall.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is tailored to the individual's needs; firstly finding ways of fully explaining a concept, then cementing them with useful and memorable material to build students' confidence. My main objective would be to aid the student in understanding not only the specifics of the work but also the broader aspects of it, which I believe provides a truer grounding in - and enjoyment of - a subject. By making the work useful and enjoyable, and by finding alternative and effective approaches to study, I hope that my tuition will shed new light on subjects for students.

My passion is building confidence and fostering resilient approaches to problem solving.

I specialise in tutoring Maths and particularly enjoy helping those students whose confidence in the subject has become a barrier to their learning and enjoyment of the subject.

I have been teaching for the past eight years and am currently Head of Law and a teacher of Economics at a secondary school rated as outstanding by OFSTED. Previous to teaching I graduated in 2006 from Loughborough University with a BSc Hons degree in Banking, Finance and Management, I then worked for three years as a trainee quantity surveyor on a civil engineering project at the Olympic site in Stratford before training to become a teacher. In my spare time, I enjoy taking part in sports, especially track running and cross country.

My training career has including working in colleges, training onsite and many years working for a local authority where I trained many staff on Microsoft, and the Agresso Financial System. Professional and practising international artist with over twenty years experience in the art industry in the US and the UK.
I have an active studio practice producing sculptures, illustrations, props and miniatures for various clients and supplement my income on the side with teaching when possible as I do enjoy sharing what I love. My home and studio practice is in east London but I teach at the Victoria & Albert Museum as its important to me to keep my teaching and my studio separate. I primarily teach young people preparing for art portfolio presentations and university entrance exams. I make a policy to teach from life using the traditional teaching methods and techniques of the great masters from the Italian Renaissance as this is how I was educated. I teach my students to understand and use perspective, relationships, contrasts and composition. I teach any level of art student following an initial portfolio review. This portfolio review helps me see previous drawings students have done which helps me understand how to construct our lessons in order to achieve success.
