Personal Description:
As a teenager I was lucky enough to receive tuition myself and it made a huge difference, so I really know how much of an advantage it gives.

Tutoring is my full-time job and has been for many years.

I am extremely quick at identifying student problem areas and devising the most efficient solutions, sometimes with budget or time constraints. Where necessary I focus on exam technique as I find many capable and knowledgeable students gain confidence (and marks!) once these skills are taught.

Since March 2020 I have tutored online using Skype, Zoom, Bramble and MS Teams.
This way of tutoring is surprisingly effective and time-saving, with results as good as in-person tuition,
something I probably would not have discovered if it were not for lockdown, as before then I always tutored in person.

Teaching Experience:
As well as many years continuous home-tutoring experience, I have taught in both state and private sectors since 1986; examples being Surrey College (Guildford), Horsell High School (Woking) and Farnborough College of Technology, and the prestigious Seaford College in Petworth, W.Sussex. Tutoring Approach:
I appreciate that for most students, private tuition represents a workload additional to both schoolwork and homework.

Therefore I aim to make tuition as interesting, interactive and productive as possible- whilst focusing on their objectives- usually a target examination grade. My passion for Art, Crafts and Design has been of paramount importance to me and sharing my knowledge and skills to all learners in these subjects.I have been drawing, painting and designing for over 40 years. I qualified as a Printed Textile Designer from Polytechnic of East London, on the BA Hons in Combined Studies Course.

From this I gained a valuable insight into the fashion and textiles industry, working with design studios. My love for creating designs continued on to the Masters Degree course at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, where I worked for Terence Conan Design Studios.

I developed an excellent rapport with artists and designers in the industry and decide, after several years of working for top high Street retailers as a fashion and textile designer, to build my own company up whilst teaching in Further Education. I became Head of the Fashion and Textiles Course in a top London college. Here all my students on the BTEC Diploma Level 3 and Level 4 courses gained work placements with Vivienne Westwood, Zandra Rhodes and many more. Many entered into their first choice Universities with my knowledge of putting their portfolios together and teaching life drawings to accompany their portfolios.

Hi! I'm a friendly and enthusiastic tutor who would love to help you understand subjects better. I currently study Biomedical Science at the University of Oxford.
I received A*AA in my A-levels, with a 90 and 92 in maths paper 1 and 2. I also took 12 GCSEs, achieving eight 9s in total, including in Maths, triple sciences and English literature.

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored the 11+ for four years, and am familiar with all common exam boards (GL, CEM, CSSE). Last year, I tutored 3 students for the 11+ with weekly sessions starting from early June, and some more sessions towards the end. Two received offers from Ilford and Woodford county, their first choice grammar school, while the other passed the exam for other grammar schools in the borough.

For GCSE's, I have professional experience tutoring GCSEs and KS3 english, maths and science at an Ofsted-registered tuition centre. I strongly believe with the right support and revision methods, anyone can pass their key subjects, even go on to get grades 2/3 levels higher than their predicted if they revise strategically. I would love to share my tips and tricks for maths, English and the sciences that helped me and many others attain A*s/9s.

I enjoy helping people learn Japanese in a relaxed, friendly and practical way. Whether you are learning Japanese for travel, hobbies, culture, anime, school, exams, or simply because you love Japan, I can support you step by step.

My lessons are personalised to each student's goals, level and learning style. I focus on building confidence and helping students use real Japanese in natural situations, not just memorise from textbooks.

My background is in teaching and education. I originally worked as a Japanese history teacher, so I can also include Japanese culture, history, education and study in Japan in lessons where relevant.

I welcome complete beginners, younger learners, and students preparing for JLPT N5/N4.

Teaching Experience:
My background includes around 9 years of teaching experience in Japan and around 2 years of experience working in education in the UK.

In Japan, I worked as a teacher in mainstream secondary schools, mainly teaching Japanese history. In the UK, I have experience supporting students with individual learning needs, including one-to-one support.

At the moment, I teach Japanese privately to several learners, including UK secondary school students and adult learners. I also teach at a Japanese supplementary school on Saturdays.

I enjoy creating lessons that are clear, relaxed and suited to each student's goals. I can also use textbooks such as Genki, depending on the student's level and goals.

Tutoring Approach:
Online lessons are £25 for 50 minutes.

Face-to-face lessons are £30 for 1 hour.

My teaching style is friendly, patient and flexible. I believe learning a language should be enjoyable, practical and not stressful.

Lessons are adapted to each person's goals, whether they want to improve conversation skills, prepare for a trip to Japan, understand Japanese culture, study for JLPT, or build confidence from the very beginning.

I like to explain things clearly and give students plenty of opportunities to practise using Japanese naturally. I can use textbooks such as Genki, but I also include real-life examples, conversation practice and cultural topics depending on the student's interests.

Mistakes are an important part of learning, so my lessons are a relaxed space where students can build confidence step by step.

Face-to-face lessons are available locally, either at the student's home or at a suitable public place. Home-based lessons may also be possible by arrangement.
