Hello, I am a lecturer, writer and tutor based in Bristol. I enjoy working with students from many backgrounds and countries.

I currently work part-time in two Universities, and have been teaching for nearly ten years. I can help you revise for exams, with assignments and dissertations.

I like tutoring as I get to speak to interesting people who face a variety of academic challenges. In the past I have helped people online and over the phone, through Skype and face to face meetings.

Teaching Experience:
Before teaching I worked in publishing and journalism. I have written a book called 'How to work as a freelance journalist' and I used to manage a magazine so also have lots of practical business experience too.

I teach journalism, business and employability. Mostly tutees I meet want help with specific things such as revising for exams or completing a difficult assignment. Often it is a case of working together to help improve your grades and reach deadlines.

I have taught students from all over the world including China, Malaysia and Qatar. I enjoy meeting new people and am keen to make sure that you get what you want from tutoring.

I am currently studying for a Diploma in CPLHE (Certificate in Professional Learning and Higher Education).

Tutoring Approach:
Through this site I have worked with students to complete assignments, dissertation proposals, catch up on missed work, or understand academic ideas that they were struggling with.

I have also worked with many students via email and telephone. This means that you can tackle a little bit at a time, and save yourself money.

I have been a private tutor since 2006 and worked with ages 7-16 across a wide range of subjects to equally great success. I am also a financial adviser and have gained a substantial amount of experience in applying economic theory to financial markets. Such experience allows me to teach in a way that the subject is not simply abstract theory, as I am able to draw on real world examples whenever necessary.

Since completing my degree, earning a First in Linguistics and Spanish from St. Catherine's College, Oxford, tutoring has become the mainstay of my work. I regularly attend Oxbridge admissions-focussed events for both schools and the general public, as an experienced mock interviewer, seminar leader, and test coach. My speciality is Spanish, though I always hope for aspiring Linguistics students! Outside of tutoring, I enjoy hiking, cooking, and snooker (even though I'm hopeless at it).

I have always been very passionate and enthusiastic about Mathematics, it has always my favourite subject at school. I have been tutoring since 2012. I use a variety of resources including worked examples, past papers questions, mini tests and worksheets as well as online resources.

During my second year at LSE, I volunteered as a classroom assistant within the Mathematics department at Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in Islington. During secondary school, I also helped many fellow students in lunch breaks and after school as well as tutoring my siblings often covering a topic from scratch. All of this has helped me develop patience and understanding of how students think and the common mistakes and misconceptions that they have.

Tutoring Approach:
If the student already knows which topics they struggle with, then I am able to focus on those specific areas using a variety of resources. If necessary, I may "test" their current knowledge and capabilities by asking them to work through 1-2 questions so I can see their thought process and therefore, tailor any advice and teaching accordingly.

If a student completely doesn't understand a topic/area, then I would start from the basics and use plenty of worked examples and textbook/past paper questions to cement their knowledge and understanding as the key to doing well is achieved through practicing as many questions as possible!

I am incredibly patient, polite and well mannered. I have experienced the struggles of GCSEs and A Levels and can relate to the students concerns and worries. I have mentored several students and younger siblings/family relatives through their secondary school years and beyond, which I think makes me an ideal choice as a tutor.

The class is as open and free as you or I make it. Conversation can turn to literature, film, music or discussions about our lives. There is great respect and kindness on my part. I am curious to get to know you as a person, your culture and likes and dislikes. I am sociable and likeable. I am always in a good mood, bubbly and smiling. I correct your grammar and write all new vocabulary and expressions in the chat so you can look over it after the class. I only revise or teach grammar points if I feel it's necessary or you ask for it. Most people have studied grammar but now need to use it by speaking! I started training Karate at age of 10 but in age of 14 discovered art of Thai Boxing (Muay Thai) which I train until today (30yrs)
At age 16 became cadet on Police Academy Zagreb where I first started training self-defence that is used by croatian police forces.At age of 18 started one year boot camp for special police and during that time I'm introduced to advanced self defence tactics and mechanics used by tactical teams in special police. At age 19 started employment in counter terrorism unit "LUCKO" where I worked next 6 yesrs and had chance to gain experience in practical application of self defence and martial arts i have learned until then. At age 20 I started working part/time as a doorman/bouncer, the same job I part-time work today. At age of 20 i also started training Judo and Boxing and taking lessons in Cro Ryu Gym where Israeli style of self defence was taught. During my Law enforcement/ security/bouncing career i have encountered many dangerous situations and self defence system I'm teaching today was improved and "pressure tested " numerous times during these years.
At age of 30, while I was working as a Head of security in Hotel Nova Galeria Zagreb I started training kung-fu Wing Chun style, which is highly implemented in my style of self defence.

Tutoring Approach:
TACTICS AND MECHANICS OF SELF DEFENCE tutorials are offered in form of beginners, intermediate and advanced personal training or small groups training sessions that will be held on open space, in gyms or in my private space for training at home. Sessions are 90 minutes in duration.
Session will focus on mental and physical side of self defence.
Every session will include warm up period, practical part and discussion part. Great importance is placed in educating students about current laws and regulations concerning self defence in UK.
Any training equipment used in advanced trainings such as boxing gloves, pads and similar is provided by me.
