I'm a 32-year old music graduate, currently living on the Isle of Man. I completed CELTA in Budapest, Hungary in 2012 and have been teaching privately since then. With my background in music I am good at incorporating this interest into my lessons (along with a passion for films, cartoons and humour).

Students need to enjoy the subject in order to understand it fully. When they approach questions from a position of confidence and relaxation, they can answer them more effectively. This sometimes involves discussion of the topics involved, especially when studying literature.

A tutor works best when they are providing an alternative to school-based education and a good tutor will enable their student to explore around a topic and to discuss any particular issues and concerns.

I am a full time Maths teacher at secondary school with a Mathematics BSc Degree. I really enjoy maths (yes this is a cliche), but I love the problem solving aspect of it and the fact there is a right or wrong answer. I always look to simplify problems and am only happy if I fully understand it. I am currently KS4 coordinator at my school and thoroughly enjoy my work and do not see myself doing any other profession.

Teaching Experience:
10 years at a secondary school teaching GCSE Foundation and Higher.
I also teach Maths A-Level (all) and Further Maths A-Level (Core Pure 1 and 2 and Further Mechanics 1). I used to teach the old spec Decision Maths 1 and 2, so am also to help with these too. I am also familiar with Further Pure 1, Further Statistics 1 and Further Mechanics 2 but do ask if you want to go through this, please give me 3 days notice to brush up on this as some of the chapters in these books I have not covered for a while as they are new to the A Level course. My name is Jamie. I'm a maths graduate from the University of Bath (MMath). I was a Maths Teacher and Key Stage 5 Coordinator at a well-known and very successful secondary school and sixth form in Bath.

I have been a Maths tutor on and off since I was in sixth form and have over 10 years' experience across a variety of ages and abilities (as well as 5 years' experience as a teacher). I'm fortunate that I discovered my passion for teaching and tutoring at a relatively young age, and I have already been able to guide many students at primary, secondary and sixth form level towards their goals.

I have now chosen to become a tutor full-time. It is incredibly rewarding to continue sharing my knowledge and insights with any students who wish to learn. If I can pass on just a little bit of my infectious enthusiasm for the subject at the same time, then all the better!
