I'm an easy going, empathetic, supportive and patient tutor who is dedicated to my students. I'm very thorough in my teaching and ensure no stone is left unturned in preparing my students for their maths exams/tests. I enjoy helping my students reach their full potential and achieve their goals. I encourage all my students to take a general interest in Mathematics as it helps them to do well. I do 1 to 1 tuition and also tutor small groups of no more than 4 students. I teach all levels up to and including A-Level and for all exam boards (AQA, EDEXCEL and OCR). I'm currently working as a professionally qualified Mathematics Teacher at one of Luton's best performing secondary schools. I have been a Maths teacher for 8 years. Tutoring Approach:
The aim of my tuition lessons is 2 fold. Firstly, it is to give my students a thorough understanding of the topics they are studying so that they are able to gain an excellent foundation. Secondly, I give my students intensive exam preparation so that they do well in their assessments. This is usually done by by doing many past papers under exam conditions. I also set my students really challenging questions that would normally not appear in their actual tests. Tutoring Approach:
One to one tuition or group tuition for primary school aged children, one to one tuition for G.C.S.E., one to one tuition for A-level and university level. Lessons are tailored to individual needs after a first meeting and adjusted continuously to the process of the learner. Depending on individual needs lessons consist of German grammar, spelling, vocabulary, conversation, listening and translation. As a native German I am able to offer a very broad range of subjects.

My undergraduate degree was in maths at Aston University and I studied for a PhD at Reading University. Since leaving university I formed and run a computer company for 27 years and have since formed and run 2 successful businesses as Managing Director. I now run my current business on a part-time basis.

I like to work with the knowledge students have on a subject and then build from there. With maths it is at times necessary to re-visit the fundamentals - these can be forgotten as time passes. Learning how to learn is important for everyone and I can help students build their own study skills , developing both abilities and confidence. My own love for learning is evidenced by my hobbies which extend from sailing through to singing, piano, camping and walking and even the piano accordion. I enjoy science, and am keen to spark a similar interest in all my pupils in a way which is relevant to their personal ability and interest.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. My name is Mairead (pronounced ma-raid, an Irish name meaning Margaret). I am a 26 year old living in Feltham, I work full time as a Disability Advisor and Autism Specialist Mentor supporting higher education students to access reasonable adjustments, provide pastoral support and advice. I also co-run workshops and events for the university I work for. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, spending time with my family, going to the gym, long walks and nature trails, swimming and arts and crafts.
