My name's Louisa, I'm 36 years old, and I'm an experienced tutor of both adults and children. I play the flute, accordion and piano. I have had a classical music education, and in recent years I have also studied blues, jazz, rock, pop, folk and gypsy music.

Teaching Experience:
I have been giving private lessons in music theory, flute, accordion and piano since 2002.

Music Theory: Many of my students are gigging musicians who have decided they want to learn how to read music and how to understand harmony. I also teach a lot of students who are studying at music colleges, universities, or in schools, who need extra help with understanding music theory in able to pass their exams. Alongside music theory I also teach sight-reading, aural skills, and composition.

Instruments: My first job when I was 14 years old was as a flute teacher! I now teach flute, piano and accordion to both adults and children.

I'm currently working in finance for Molson Coors, having previously worked in external audit for PwC for 4 years where I obtained my ACA qualification.
Prior to this I was a student studying Economics at the University of Birmingham, where I achieved a first level BSc. I am interested in sharing some of the things I have learnt over my years in education with others, which is why I'm keen to tutor. I have previously mentored students throughout secondary school and really enjoyed it. Apart from university my other interests include; playing netball and renovating my house.

Teaching Experience:
I have previously mentored students through their GCSEs and Alevels at secondary school and really enjoyed it. I am the coach of a netball team so this also gives me skills which help to make me a better tutor such as patience, organisation and effective communication skills.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe tutoring is the responsibility of both the tutor and the tutee. I would like to plan sessions which are stimulating, engaging and involve ideas bouncing between the two of us, whether that is through debate, discussions or question and answer sessions. I am also open minded so would be prepared to experiment a lot with teaching style. My Name is Rachel and I have finished my final year at the University of Glasgow, where I studied a Bachelor of Music with Honours. I am a very positive, hardworking person. I am a singer and also have many years of experience working with the Kodaly method of music education. I have achieved ABRSM Grade 5 Theory, The National Youth Choir of Scotland's Go For Gold Certificate (which is accredited to Grade 5 Theory) and have also achieved Grade 8 in Voice and Grade 7 in Oboe through the ABRSM. I am a first study singer, and have several years teaching and assisting in teaching theory.

Teaching Experience:
I have worked with the National Youth Choir of Scotland for 2 years and have been doing music workshops in schools with Primary 3 and 4. I also teach in one of NYCoS's Area Choirs teaching young people from the age of 8-18. Before I became an employee of NYCoS I had volunteered with them as an assistent music instructor. I have the Go For Bronze/Silver/Gold teaching qualifications, with Go For Gold now being accredited to ABRSM Grade 5 Theory.

I completed the Bar Professional Training Course in Cyprus since 2012 and I am currently practising Law in Scotland as a European Union Lawyer. I have been working for one of the biggest international based law firms in Cyprus as a Senior Associate and Head of the Corporate Department.

In the interim while working as a lawyer, my thirst for knowledge and to better myself I studied Accounting and Book keeping - LCCI. I have completed the course with a Distinction grade in all of the levels (Elementary, Intermediate and Higher).

I am currently a teacher of physics at a leading independent school in Bristol. I am also a head of year, coach cricket, help run our DoE and Ten Tors program, and run an engineering and bike club at school.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught physics up to A-level, and some Key Stage 4 maths, for 15 years. My PhD in engineering was in mathematical modelling hence I am able to teach both maths and physics. I also do Oxbridge engineering and physics preparation and have much experience in this area.

I am currently an academic tutor, a therapeutic tutor for special needs and an artist. I previously worked in software engineering after studying my integrated masters in computer science and mathematics at the University of Sheffield in which I achieved a 2:1. I have been tutoring for 8 years now since the age of 17. My name is Kateryna and I am currently studying at Aston University, Birmingham where I am completing my Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience. Prior to my University studies, I attended Adams' Grammar School in Newport, Shropshire where I completed my A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In addition to my studies at University, I work part-time as a domiciliary care worker, working with senior adults in their homes to ensure they live as independently as possible.

In terms of my interests outside of studying and working, I love all things outdoors- in particular walking and biking. In the summer months I take great joy in watersport activities such as, wakeboarding and bodyboarding.

Whilst being a student myself, I have tutored first year BSc Neuroscience university students during the course of their first year in order to bridge any gaps in their knowledge of first year content. Also, whilst I was a sixth-form student in my second year I tutored lower-sixth A-Level Biology students .

Tutoring Approach:
Having experienced tutoring myself in both A-Level Chemistry and Physics, I have great insight into what I believe makes a good tutor and what tutees who do require additional support actually want from their tutor.
In my opinion, my approach to being a successful tutor is building confidence in tutees by exploring what they already are successful in to encourage the idea that requiring additional help is perfectly normal and nothing to be insecure about as they can already prove to themselves that they flourish already in other parts of academia. However, once we have identified areas of a subject that they feel not so confident in, my approach is to tackle the basics first, from which more detail can be brought about with ease. I have a B.Sc. in Developmental Biology and Biochemistry from Aberdeen University and a PhD.D. in medical science from Glasgow University.
