Personal Description:
I am a qualified primary school teacher with 23 years experience working in schools in Eastbourne. My main subject is Art (I have a degree in ceramics) so much of my teaching is through creative, visual, practical and kinaesthetic teaching whereby my pupils enjoy their lessons and are enthused into a love of learning. I am also involved in the Eastbourne Art scene and paint at home when I get the chance. I am friendly, fair and holistic in my approach . I have two children (15 and 17) whom I try and fit my work around and feel I could offer a positive tutoring experience to children and their families in this area of teaching. I can also offer English tuition for those who may have English as an additional language.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified in 1993 with a post graduate certificate in education after having been a self employed potter in Bristol exhibiting my ceramics. I have co-ordinated Art, Maths and played an active role in early years play and learning with all the necessary knowledge of the primary curriculum including the Foundation Stage. I have taught many children with E.A.L. and have a sound knowledge of special needs teaching using methods such as Makaton signing and Widgit symbols to enhance children's understanding. I would use the Numicon system to support primary maths and am familiar with Key Stage 1 and 2 age range as this is what I have taught mostly over the last few years. I am familiar with SATS and have been on many courses over the years on all subjects. I particularly enjoy history, art and maths and could teach very basic French too. I have recently trained to be a specialist language teacher and visit schools across the county.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in encouragement, boosting self esteem and making tutoring interesting, as I have seen what boredom, frustration and poor engagement can do to young children. They need to be switched on and confident in what they do in order to achieve. I always start at a level a child can succeed in and am aware that sometimes you have to change your approach depending on the child. I have a bank of subject and topic ideas suitable for this age range and have been able to think on my toes over the years.

Personal Description:
I work as a Solicitor, working in a busy High-street Firm. I have been working for 5 years. I have been tutoring for the past 7 years and it is something I enjoy immensely.

I am able to obtain all exam papers and mark schemes, in order to help the students.

I am very patient with my students and can keep a calm temperament. I will assist my students in any way possible, in order for them to reach their maximum potential.

As a person, I am very approachable and like-able. This is also my approach as a tutor as I aim to make my students feel comfortable. All the students I have taught have provided me with positive feedback, as they have enjoyed sessions and feel they can relate to my style of teaching.

I am also able to provide sessions in order to assist with coursework deadlines etc and general English speaking and writing.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for 7 years, with a wide-range of students, from GSCE to Degree level. In addition to this, I have continued tutoring my younger brother, who has now completed his LLB and he further provides me with constructive feedback and the up-to date course material.

I have taught around 40 students, with varying abilities levels, although I have succeeded in helping them improve.

Tutoring Approach:

I take tutoring very seriously and approach each student on their own merits. I am recently qualified I'm my area for work, therefore my approach to teaching is relatively up-to date and contemporary. My recollection of School confirms that the classes in which I excelled, were the ones where the teacher would take an active-role in class. I have incorporated this into my teaching method. I have an individualised teaching approach and adapt my style to the student's needs.

If any students require one-off sessions, for help with coursework or exams, I am able to provide this.
With the exam period forthcoming, I have experience in going through exam techniques and revision methods.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Mitul. I teach Mathematics on a one-to-one basis to students at different levels. I have a BSc in Mathematics from Imperial College, London and an MSc in Financial Mathematics from the University of Warwick.

Teaching Experience:

I have over five years of private tutoring experience in Maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to establish what the student knows and needs during the sessions, building upon their existing knowledge and closing gaps. My approach typically involves working with pupils on their weaker topics, giving them confidence to work progressively through text book questions and then past papers. I try to break problems down into manageable chunks and explain those parts that do not make sense in more detail, using my communication skills to pass on my subject knowledge.

An integral part of the sessions and the student progression is the completion of weekly homework. Whilst I may not ask for specific questions or exercises to be completed each week, feedback from the follow-up work is crucial in ensuring that progress is continually being made.

Personal Description:
I am a student at the University of Bath and am currently in my third year of a four year course, studying BA French, Italian and European Studies (History, Politics, Culture and Literature of Europe). In compliance with my degree, this year must be spent abroad and so I have just finished my summer employment at a private language summer school in Belgium, working as an English teacher.

I teach French on Twitter, where I have over 16,000 followers and regularly respond to questions and update my page daily with useful phrases, every day speech and more complex language issues.

My passion for learning and teaching languages stems from when I moved to France at the age of 13 with my parents, not one of us spoke a word of the language - other than the vague memories of the beginnings of GCSE, with the only words springing to mind being 'ruler' and 'pencil'. It's really just not ideal when you're actually in the centre of a new culture, and not in a classroom.

I didn't have friends for the first few months there because of the language barrier (it didn't help either that I was home-schooled so it was incredibly hard for me to even meet people!). So I just had to learn the language. In teaching myself it, I know what works, I know the easiest ways to memorise words and phrases, I know what to do and what will be easiest for you.

After three years of living in France, my parents decided to move back to the UK where I continued my language studies at a scholastic level; completing my AS Level and my A2 Level in French, gaining an A in both.

My passion for Italian stems from my father's family being Sicilian. We moved there, also when I was 13, however, sadly we only spent a very brief time there - it was a spontaneous country-hop so we really just were not prepared for the culture shock. Again, none of us spoke the language, so I began teaching myself and then continued again when I came back to the UK to study.

English is my native language and I have taken my A Levels in English Language.

Teaching Experience:

While teaching, my classes would change weekly, so during my stay there I gained the experience of teaching 9-17 year olds, with English levels ranging from absolute beginner, A1 to almost native, C1.

I gained many skills, including, but not exclusive to, classroom management, lesson planning, evaluating language levels at the beginning and end of the stay of the children, meeting parents and giving feedback and of course, teaching full days; my teaching day would even include private one-to-one lessons. I would often deal with situations that required being able to think innovatively, without guidance and under pressure so I have gained a considerable amount of confidence and self-discipline due to my work there and I have improved my time keeping and organisational skills.

I have also been privately tutoring children, from 11 to 14 years old, for over two years now, via Skype. So even if the distance seems too far - teaching via Skype is an option.

I tutored one of my students through her French GCSE and she gained an A*. I was always available to prepare her - even the day before her exams. She only ever felt confident to go into any of the modules (be it speaking or writing).

I really care for the children that I tutor and am proud to say I have been there to help them with all aspects of their schooling, from homework help, to exam preparations, extra work and even life lessons - I'm very personable, patient and overall positive and happy so am always willing to give advice and have really become a friend to my tutees. We've also worked on all subjects, everything from science, to history, to music, to teaching the time and additional mathematics help.

Please see below for feedback from previous families that have found me on this site:

------------------------------------

Bianca taught my daughter French all of last year. Her teaching methods were relaxed and fun, and our daughter's French improved dramatically in a short space of time. Equally importantly, we were totally comfortable with having Bianca in our house; I often went out, leaving her alone with our daughter, without a second thought.
Bianca is polite, respectful and trustworthy. Her teaching is fun and motivational, and our daughter is very fond of her.
I have no hesitation in recommending Bianca as a teacher and au pair.

-------------------------------------

Bianca has tutored my 3 children for over 3 years and her work with them has been invaluable. We lived in France for 7 years and when the children returned to the UK they found some subjects difficult, especially as one of them began high school.

Bianca has an incredible way of teaching that totally captures the child's attention and she engages and connects with them in a way that makes learning easy, practical and fun.

Bianca helped my children improve their grades and they passed all their subjects under her watch and in fact Bianca could help them in any subject they asked for help in.

My middle son was terrible at focusing and organising himself and Bianca was able to help with fun tactics to help home organise and to study. The projects he did with her were fantastic.

Bianca also coached my eldest to an A* in French GSCE a year early and she encouraged her to aim high.

Bianca is also a wonderful role model and my eldest aspires to be like her, she says she would like to go to Bath University to study languages like Bianca.

Bianca brings out the best in the children and overall she is one of the most sincere, loveliest helpful people I know. She is intelligent and entertaining and I wish her well! We miss her enormously!

Tutoring Approach:

I do it the right way, the way I would have wanted to have been taught. No unnecessary memorising. No difficult approaches. No complex babbling.

I won't just be setting you work, I will be working with you. All you need to do is let me know what exactly you want to learn. Even if your answer is 'Everything!', then we'll get down to it.

This is simple. So, let's do it!

Personal Description:
My name is Shadi, I am French native speaker and I live in West London (Barons Court) for 6 years now.
My colleagues say I am a very communicative person, hard worker and perfectionist. I have a cosmopolitan culture which helps me to be open-minded and very approachable by my students. I have worked as a Marketing Manager for over 10 years in Paris but my deep passion has always been teaching languages. I have realised my dream relocating to London.

In addition to French I am like native speaker and teacher in Italian language and culture.

Moreover I am well organised, punctual reliable and specially enthusiastic with a fun and approachable teaching manner with my students.

Teaching Experience:

I have started to teach to adults in private and corporate trainings for over4 years for big companies in the City of London (both Italian and French). Some of my group adult students switched to private lessons and I still teach them all the ways to improve not only their language level but also their knowledge of the culture and the country of the language they learn.

I am able to teach French and Italian at all levels.

Tutoring Approach:

I have had the opportunity to teach in London in corporate trainings to adults at a very demanding level.
Feedbacks has demonstrated that I was not only adaptable, but also good listener and approachable. This is how I believe teaching has to focus on.

There are no secrets, enjoy what you do and you will learn it faster is my credo

Since graduating from the University of Cambridge in 2014 with a BA in English, I have accrued over 150 hours of tutoring. I have taught students from ages 11 to 18.

Personal Description:
I am a British academic and tutor, with degrees from the universities of London, Jerusalem and Cambridge. Author of 'Israel and the Cold War: Diplomacy, Strategy, and the Policy of the Periphery at the United Nations' (I.B. Tauris, 2013), I write for several academic journals, and review for the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House. I was the first recipient of the Mikardo scholarship, awarded by the British Foreign Office, and, whilst at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, was awarded a Golda Meir Fellowship. Whilst at Cambridge, I won a Donner prize in Atlantic Studies.

Teaching Experience:

A former Teaching Fellow at King's College London, I have taught MA courses on the Arab-Israeli conflict, US and British Foreign Policy, War and Peace in the Middle East, and Inter-Faith Relations in the Mediterranean. A fluent Hebrew speaker, I was Peer Tutor in Hebrew at University College London, where I was awarded the departmental prize for excellence in the Hebrew language. I have tutored privately abroad, as well as in Britain, and have an immensely successful record with my tutees. Apart from one-to one and online tuition, I also offer intensive tuition during school and university holidays. I find that both tutees and parents find this particularly useful for preparation and/or consolidation of knowledge. For peace of mind, I have enhanced DBS/CRB clearance.

Tutoring Approach:

Relaxed, interactive, theme-based, and multi-disciplinary. Use of past papers, analysis, deconstruction of exam and essay questions, concepts, and requirements; development of essay, and exam structure. I pay particular attention to a student's self-confidence, and self-expression, which often serve as catalysts for enhanced self-belief and, hence, success.

Personal Description:
Award winning and experienced HE lecturer offers private tuition in all social science subjects and primarily in Politics/Government, Political Economy, European Studies and International Relations.

Hi there and thanks for viewing my profile. My name is Paul and I have been studying, researching and teaching politics since 1988 when I first started my undergraduate degree at Leeds. I gained my first degree with first class honours at Leeds, completed a PhD in Politics at Leeds in 1998 and subsequently lectured, tutored and researched in Politics / Political Economy / International Relations and European Studies at the University of Portsmouth from 1998-2015.

I took a career break from September 2015 to develop some personal projects but continue to offer tuition in politics.

My primary specialism is in the crossover between Politics and Economics (Political Economy) in a theoretical, international, global, European and policymaking context. Many students taking Politics or IR degrees struggle with the economic components of their degree, perceiving it to be a different and mathematical subject...Economic ideas and concepts are in fact central to any deep understanding of politics and IR but, happily, they are very much easier to understand than many students assume. One of my biggest strengths as a tutor is to be able to make economic ideas accessible, interesting, engaging and relevant to the non-specialist and to the student of Politics / IR. By connecting the economics very clearly to mainstream areas of politics such as political thought and public policy and by focusing on the non-mathematical aspects of economic thought, I have been able to help students overcome their initial fears about political economy and come to see it as both the fundamental - and fun - part of all social and political science .

In addition to my specialisms in PE/IPE, I have broad and deep subject knowledge having taught across the full range of Politics, Government, European Studies and International Relations subjects over the years so it is very unlikely that you would be studying something in this broad area of political and social sciences that I would not be able to cover.

And: I am very flexible and approachable: just ask if you have any queries at all!

Teaching Experience:

Award winning and experienced HE lecturer offers private tuition in all social science subjects and primarily in Politics/Government, Political Economy, European Studies and International Relations.

I was Principal Lecturer in Politics/IR at Portsmouth University, Associate Head of the School of Social Historical and Literary Studies (2003-11) before moving up to a Faculty job. Overall I taught in HE at Portsmouth from 1998 until September 2015. I decided to take a voluntary career break in 2015 to develop a variety of my own pet projects but I continue to offer tuition on a private basis across the social sciences to undergraduate, postgraduate and A-level students.

I have been a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and previously the ILT since 2001, and am currently applying for Senior Fellowship status.

In addition, I am an experienced personal and study skills tutor, a role I always took seriously at University. I see the role of a tutor as partly that of a 'coach', facilitating as much as possible your own development as a student. I honed this approach over time as a lecturer and it was especially useful in dissertation supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Tutoring Approach:

During my time at Portsmouth I was nominated for and won several teaching awards including 'Most Innovative Lecturer' and 'Best Feedback'. A major strength of my teaching is that I give very positive, encouraging and constructive developmental feedback on your ideas, plans and writing combined with broad and deep subject knowledge.

As a lecturer I am highly engaging, dynamic and open and I have a gift to explaining complicated concepts in very clear and accessible ways using stories, metaphors and analogies. Indeed I am currently writing a book in which this approach is used to teach Economic concepts to non-specialists without any numbers at all - purely through stories, analogies and metaphors.

In addition to offering private tutoring I am also an accredited trainer and life coach, as well as a proof reader. So the skills sets I bring to private tuition are more diverse than just lecturing / teaching although of course I also do have that extensive classroom and tutoring experience you require (18 years!).

My main specialisms are: international and global political economy, economics for non-specialists and social scientists, public policy, British politics, comparative politics, political ideas and theory, political ideologies, international relations.

Personal Description:
I have a First Class BEd (Hons) degree from The University of Glasgow and am a fully qualified and experienced primary school teacher.

Throughout my educational career I have been a top academic performer. I was the dux in my fifth year of secondary school for achieving top marks in my Standard Grade and Higher examinations. In the same year I was awarded the French and History prizes and I received the Spanish prize in my sixth year. During my time at secondary school I was awarded a certificate of distinction every year. I was also a prefect and achieved perfect attendance.

I am young, friendly and approachable and believe these qualities will help me to successfully engage with students and help them achieve their full potential. I am a creative and hardworking individual who always strives to be the best at what I do.

Teaching Experience:

I have four years of experience as a primary school teacher in Scotland and thus have in-depth knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence. Over the past four years I have planned, implemented and assessed learning across all subject areas of the curriculum.

Throughout my time at university and my time spent working as a teacher I have had experience working with pupils across a range of ages and stages. I have a great deal of experience working with children in a variety of contexts including large groups, small groups and one to one. I have taught pupils with additional support needs as well as highly able pupils and know how to cater to each individual's needs in order to help them achieve their best work.

In my final year of secondary school I was part of a working group in which I helped tutor younger pupils who required additional support in English on a one to one basis.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that tutoring should be delivered in a fun and relaxed style, while still being informative and academic. I feel that this approach to tutoring allows students to gain the most out of their experience. I like to build positive relationships with students and feel that my open and approachable personality allows me to do this. In this way I feel that I can put students at ease and eliminate the pressure that many young people experience in large class scenarios. I find that students tend to perform to the best of their abilities when they feel comfortable and when they feel that they are not under pressure.

I believe in allowing students to lead their own learning. I will always ask for students' input and take this on board to inform future tuition. I adapt my pace to suit the student's needs and always ensure that they are secure in one aspect of learning before moving on to the next. I will vary the format of lessons depending on what the learner needs at the particular time. Lessons may take the form of lectures, question and answer sessions, or sessions providing feedback on pieces of work which I, or the student's teacher, have set.
