Teaching Experience:
I have been a personal tutor for over 12 years, helping many students with maths and sciences, mostly at GCSE level. In addition I have experience as a Lecturer at The University of Huddersfield and at Wakefield District College. Where I taught computer science and I.T.

Emme began her musical studies at the age of nine, receiving music scholarships at both her Prep school and the prestigious Oxford High School for Girls up until she left. She made her Concerto debut at the age of seventeen, playing Mouquet's La Flute de Pan Concerto, and successfully gained both the DipABRSM and LRSM in performance before moving to Manchester in 2005 to study at the Royal Northern College of Music. At the RNCM Emmeline studied with Richard Davis, Linda Verrier, Michael Cox, and Laura Jellicoe culminating in a final recital in 2009 that included works by Messiaen, Liebermann and George Crumb. Since graduating in 2009 she has continued to learn, play and teach the flute as well as the recorder and music theory.

As an orchestral flute player, Emme has performed in orchestras conducted by Hansjorg Schellenbeger, Sir Mark Elder, Gianndrea Noseda and Jacques Van Steen, just to name a few. She has performed across England as well as travelling to Italy to work under Noseda in his Stresa Festival and to Spain as part of the Word Orchestra. During 2008 and 2009, Emme successfully competed to become the only chosen flute player to take part in The BBC Philharmonics Professional Experience Scheme, and since then she regularly performs and records with the Orchestra in and around Manchester. She has also played with the Bampton Classical Opera, the London-Irish Symphony Orchestra, the Oxford Concerto Orchestra, and Stockport Symphony Orchestra and has featured as principal flautist on a number of recordings, notably for the soundtrack to the film Tortoise in Love, and on recordings for Polyphonic Records. She is currently performing in the touring hit musical Phantom of the Opera, as well as taking part in sessions for shows and TV in the UK.

Outside of orchestral playing Emme also performs chamber music and solo works. She is one of the founding members of Northern Quarter Ensemble, a flexible chamber group providing bespoke musicians for special events; most recently performing for royality at the Paris Opera Garnier. She often gives solo recitals and performs at weddings in Manchester, Oxford and Cheltenham. Her last concerto performance was just last year where she performed the Ibert Concerto with Oxford Studio Orchestra.

Outside of playing Emme enjoys teaching. During her time in Manchester she has taught privately, as well as for Lancashire, the Wirral and Bolton Music Services. She is also involved the BBC Philharmonic's outreach schemes, most recently being appointed the wind coach for the Family Orchestra projects in the North-West of England.

She has now moved to Oxfordshire and London and teaches at Preparatory Schools in both areas.

I am a graduate of the Newcastle University BMus (Hons) Folk and Traditional Music where I specialised in Scottish traditional fiddle music. I am both an experienced teacher and performer, having performed at various festivals throughout the country. I am comfortable playing in a variety of musical styles and I am happy to tailor lessons to the interests of each individual pupil.

Teaching Experience:
During the past five years I have taught a range of age groups from young school pupils to adults in both one to one lessons and group settings. I have also had a great deal of experience teaching beginners, most recently the Bellingham Middle School Ceilidh Band. During my later years of school I assisted with a young children's string orchestra and also an intermediate traditional music group. As part of my degree I have studied different techniques of teaching traditional music within the community.

Tutoring Approach:
The initial lesson provides an opportunity for both myself and the pupil to discuss any past musical experiences and also understand what they wish to gain from future lessons. I plan my lessons around the interests of the pupil which in return allows them to get the most out of their lessons. Whilst I strongly believe that there are benefits to reading notation, I also teach by ear and am happy to focus on this if a pupil so wishes. I encourage my pupils to bring along any music they wish to learn in addition to their set pieces.

I offer hour long lessons, suggesting a starting point of half an hour for beginners. Groups lessons are possible.

Leigh is a professional drummer, musician and teacher based in London, UK with years of live, studio and tuition experience behind him.

Leigh started playing drums at the age of 14 in Bournemouth, UK after many years listening to and obsessing over classic rock and heavy metal, playing his first show with a band after only about 2 weeks of having owned a drumset. After playing in several local rock bands around the area, Leigh began to study drums at school with the now iconic Tony Nash before heading to the University of Warwick in 2007, and studying drums at an advanced level with world-renowned players and educators such as Benny Greb, Thomas Lang, Derek Roddy, Tommy Igoe and Travis Orbin. It was at this time that he also began taking on students of his own, teaching around the West Midlands and also giving workshops and demonstrations at the University.

After this period of intensive and passionate study, Leigh graduated in 2011 and was immediately welcomed into The Rhythm Studio faculty where he quickly rose to become one of the principal staff in the drum department, teaching private drum lessons to numerous students spanning a wide age, interest and ability spectrum.

Launched in late 2012, the drum stream of The Rhythm Studio's new flagship Rock & Pop Academy courses have been taught and assessed exclusively by Leigh, with much of the material being modelled on his own personal teaching method. The students on this course have progressed astonishingly well, and under his guidance Leigh's private students continue to excel, with a 100% pass rate with Distinction for all grade exams taken after tuition with Leigh.

Whilst he continues to share his knowledge, away from education Leigh's primary focus is his progressive metal band, Beneath Dead Waves, which he co-founded. After years of composition and cultivation, Beneath Dead Waves will release its debut album Inertia in Q3 of 2013, with a full supporting UK tour.

Leigh also composes and performs with London-based rock outfit Hellcat Molly,who have an EP in the works, and has also performed several recording and live session duties with UK shock rocker Al B Damned, providing drums for his last 2 records. His live session history also includes shows at prestigious venues such as London's SCALA club. During his time at Warwick, Leigh played live with several other artists, playing shows in Birmingham, Leamington Spa & Coventry. He also continues to teach students in the area via Skype.

With Beneath Dead Waves about to launch, Leigh's schedule now allows him to take on many more private students, and he has recently joined the Drumsense network with Colin Woolway, which is fast emerging as the world's premier programme for drumset education. He is also currently constructing his own personal website, which will contain much more information and media, will host a wealth of instructional material on also act as his online educational vehicle, with plans for an online drum school/video lesson curriculum in their formative stages.

I feel my method not only covers that material, but also educates the student on a much deeper level (covering subjects which some grade exams do not), and also holds (in my opinion) far more relevance to modern day music, having a much more readily available contemporary application. In fact, many of my students who have followed my methods have requested to occasionally be entered for such exams (for school entrance, etc.), and are immediately fluent with the material - all passed with distinction.

That said, I am happy to follow Rockschool and Trinity Guildhall syllabii from the outset if you wish.

I am also available for tuition via Skype, and already teach many students in the USA, Canada (and even some students in the Midlands) via this platform. This is useful for mentoring, progress reports, exercise dictation for the more advanced player and general career advice. I also use this platform to monitor some of my students who currently board at specialist music colleges.

As with tuition in person, this service also includes emails of exercises and practice routines in .pdf form, and I can also offer online tuition via video exchange - that is, the student records themselves playing and talking about their progress/asking for help etc., and then I record a video response back to that student, commenting on their initial video and providing support.

I am a music graduate, with aims to go into music lecturing. I am about to start an MA in Applied Musicology at Utrecht University. I have been playing guitar since I was 8 years old, so for over 14 years now. I studied at Leeds College of Music for 2 years, and have recently graduated from Anglia Ruskin University with a BA(Hons) degree in Popular Music. I am a singer/composer/producer and songwriter. I've worked mainly in the advertising world, composing and producing for television.

In terms of teaching, I have helped people with regards to Vocal Coaching, Singing, Songwriting Techniques, Music Production and Relaxation, all under the bracket of music and performing.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught privately for 4 years. I have helped people develop their songwriting craft and assisted them in developing their songs and finding their own uniqueness. I also assist in recording sessions/rehearsals, focusing on making sure the vocalist is in a good emotional space and we can also look at technique and diction and the emotion behind the song.

In terms of production, I tend to work with Logic Pro, but the principles of production are to do with sound selection and arrangement. I help students hear which sound choices work, and hear the finer details in well crafted and produced songs. Once the principles are understood, this allows them to apply them to their own work.

Tutoring Approach:
I have a relaxed yet very focused approach to tutoring. First we'll identify the student's goals and intentions, whether it's purely singing based, or involves aspects of songwriting and performing or production. We then set some targets and work together to achieve them.

In terms of vocal technique, I have studied and integrated elements of 'Bel Canto', Speech level style singing, and more contemporary forms of vocal development. I also explain what each vocal exercise is designed to do, so we know why we're doing certain exercises.

Relaxation techniques are a big part of my work. This allows us to breathe more freely, and helps free us of any tensions which may stand in our way.

The confidence of technique and precise execution that becomes second nature is the key to successful musical delivery. I help develop those techniques that can be relied upon to deliver the true emotion and intention behind your of your work.

I'm a local musician playing piano and violin to a high level and want to continue to pass on my experience of playing an instrument to as many people as possible of all ages. There is no buzz like performing a piece of music in front of an audience however small and seeing how much they appreciate it at the end. I have been a classroom music teacher for over 25 years - 23 of them as a highly successful head of department at Bradfield Secondary School in Sheffield. I have taught GCSE and A Level music, and my students have consistently achieved well above the national average. I have also organised a large number of concerts, shows, and festivals. I was Classic FM's inaugural Music Teacher of the Year in 1999.

Ciao! I'm Esmond. I'm a writer, composer, director and artist, and prizewinning History finalist at the University of Oxford, with experience of a broad range of learning environments and teaching styles, and substantial industry experience in music and the creative arts. Deeply passionate about my subjects, I'm dedicated to each of my students and enthusiastic about sharing the joy of learning with them. I tutor History, Music, History of Art and Latin to A-Level, IB and equivalent, and English, Design and Technology (Graphic Design route) and Maths to GCSE/IGCSE. I also provide mentoring, including guidance on personal statements, submitted work, admissions tests and interviews, for students applying to study History and related subjects at both Oxbridge and other universities. Currently a final-year historian at the University of Oxford, I hold both academic and music scholarships. My teaching in Music and Design and Technology is further underpinned by extensive industry experience in music (as a composer, director, producer and singer), graphic design and the creative arts more broadly. I produced and artistically directed my first opera production, Monteverdi's L'Orfeo, in 2016, with an international cast of singers from several leading British and European conservatoires, and I'm currently Artistic Director and co-Musical Director of the semi-professional early music and early opera ensemble, Theatron Oneiron, which I founded as a first-year undergraduate. As a freelance composer, my compositions have won competitions at a national level and been performed by such artists as the BBC Singers. I'm also a classically trained, semi-professional singer, currently a Choral Exhibitioner in the Choir of The Queen's College, Oxford, and formerly a Choral Scholar at Guildford Cathedral and Exeter College, Oxford, and member of the Iken Scholars among many other ensembles; and I frequently perform as a recitalist and as a soloist in oratorios and opera productions. I previously studied both piano and violin. In art and design, my experience encompasses both artistic and technical drawing, product design, poster design, and production design for the stage, and my work includes an award-winning scaled model and card model kit of Guildford Cathedral.

Teaching Experience:
I have substantial experience of a range of learning environments and teaching styles, including home education, project- and inquiry-based learning, the Oxbridge tutorial format, and classroom-style teaching in both the private and the state sectors.

I worked as a Teaching Assistant at Chelsea Academy, London, in 2013-14, as part of RGS Guildford's Outreach Scheme there. I have led and assisted classes for year groups and ability levels from Year 7 to GCSE and top to bottom sets, and previously provided mentoring to Oxbridge applicants. More recently, my experience includes one-to-one tutoring in humanities subjects, English as a Second Language, and Music Theory. I have further developed creative and effective coaching and teaching methods in the course of work as both a musical director and stage director, and clear and engaging communication of content and ideas through seminar talks and presentations in the course of my own studies.

Tutoring Approach:
My own teaching style is greatly influenced by my own fruitful experiences of home education (to age eleven) and the Oxbridge tutorial format. I prioritise the greater scope for intellectual flexibility and curiosity, intrinsically-motivated learning, and heightened freedom to range across subjects and pursue individual topics in greater depth according to each student's interests characteristic of both of these learning environments. I combine these foci with rigorous, comprehensive attention to exam syllabi to ensure that teaching and learning remain carefully targeted towards my students' desired grades in any traditional summative assessments such as school entrance exams, GCSEs or A-Levels.

All my tutoring is student-centred, guiding and facilitating my students in their own learning, in contrast to traditional teacher-centred instruction. My area of expertise is in the technical aspects of music production - for example, acoustics or digital theory - but I am equally able to advise students creatively on their own compositions and mixing techniques. I have been playing the drums for over twenty years, and teaching them for over ten. I have been regularly performing live, recording, and touring since 2001. I am comfortable and experienced in many genres: rock, pop, hip-hop, metal, blues, and jazz.
My career highlights include:
- playing sold-out shows in Paris, Madrid, and Krakow
- writing and performing backing music for a theatre production in London
- writing and performing a library record of drum beats and original compositions for the King Underground record label.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching the drums since 2011, from children as young as 4 to adults as old as 64. I have received consistently positive feedback from students and students' parents, and teaching is something that I find tremendously rewarding. I have taught theory, sight reading, and have helped students prepare for the Trinity graded exams.

I learned very early on in my teaching career that there is no 'one size fits all' formula for helping people to learn an instrument. Some people benefit from the structure provided by working towards music exams, while others simply want to jam and play their favourite songs.
