Personal Description:
SAXOPHONE-I am an experienced saxophonist. Currently I play both alto and baritone saxophone. I have taught young pupils at my old school before for free, but now that i have gained enough experience, not just as a teacher but at a very high level in bands too, I am starting to tutor. I teach many different styles, have it be jazz, pop or classical. I offer tuition for students of all ages. Whether you are young and just starting out or older and wish to try something new/different for fun and want some guidance in the right direction, I am here to help. I teach for those at a amateur and beginner level. Music is a great passion of mine and I really enjoy teaching others something so great.

MATHS- I am a higher level maths student and i have an A grade at GCSE level maths. During my free periods i spend time helping lower school student who are struggling with their maths for free because i really enjoy teaching. I teach everything from key stage 1,2 and 3 maths to foundation GCSE students. Maths has always been a great ability of mine and I mainly teach it because I have a love for it and in my experience those who i have taught have found me very helpful.

Teaching Experience:

SAXOPHONE- I have taught young pupils at my old school before for free to gain some experience in teaching. I also play at a high level in the Hillingdon Music Service concert band and Sax Group, as well as in multiple Jazz and Big Bands.I have been on tour to France with the Music Service as well and have played for weddings too. I now have a good level of experience in both playing and teaching.

MATHS- I have been teaching GCSE and lower level maths for a few years now. I was part of a team who a few years ago went to the UK maths challenge representing my region of London. I enjoy teaching maths and in my experience those who i have taught have found me very useful.

Tutoring Approach:

I find that bringing out the passion in the student is what counts, so for music the genre they enjoy most and helping them fall in love with music that way. With maths i believe having a strategic plan of getting a topic or part of maths that the student is struggling with and keeping at it and doing questions and going through the solutions with them until they understand. I understand that many people struggle with maths or may not like it but i find that someone younger (such as myself) teaching them makes it a lot easier on them. Another good way i find with maths is going through questions and helping them understand how to get to the answer rather than just giving the answer and moving on with a simple tick or cross.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable tutor with a huge amount of enthusiasm in the subjects I teach. I was awarded a Scholarship to a competitive independent before working towards a Masters in Biochemistry at Oxford University.

I have since worked as a Pharmaceuticals Business Analyst, as a High Yield Chemicals Industry Analyst in Investment Banking and as an Air Traffic Controller. In each case the knowledge and skills from my education have been critical. I would now like to gain the satisfaction of helping others do well in these subjects and attain their potential.

Teaching Experience:

In my industries it is critical to continue learning and passing exams, and in every role, I have always had to pass on my knowledge and understanding to others, which has been incredibly gratifying. More recently, I have enjoyed tutoring maths and other subjects to pupils locally, often to help them gain entrance to competitive schools. I also enjoy spending time teaching my son and my nieces.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning should always be interesting to the pupil - inspirational even - and that the onus is on the teacher to make this the case. Learning is about being curious and asking questions; in fact I believe pupils should not be scared to ask any question, which means that learning should feel relaxed rather than formal.

Subjects should not be seen as complex but rather layers of straight forward principals that build on what the pupil already knows in an intuitive fashion. In this way, a good teacher allows understanding to grow naturally and not feel like a challenge.

Personal Description:
Working with children has always been a passion for me. I have a good grasp of the English language and am also comfortable with numbers and am therefore confident of being able to tutor both English and Mathematics to young children at primary school level with the intention of preparing the child for Eleven Plus entrance exams.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience to date entails working with children aged between 5 - 13 years. I have previously tutored young children both individually and in small groups. Most of my work with the children was over a period of two years and was carried out under a government project which aimed to raise the children's aspirations and awareness in higher education. I have now been tutoring young children for over 5 years.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring ensures that the child's academic needs will be catered for. Working with children requires a great deal of patience and communication, both of which are my strongest attributes. This will enable me to teach children using methods that are suitable for that particular child and will allow me to teach the child at the right pace. My motivational and creative approach to teaching will enlighten, stimulate and promote growth and development for the child.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic communicator who loves helping people and encouraging them to achieve their potential. I gain great satisfaction from the idea of enabling my students to gain qualifications that will open doors for them and their future life. I am passionate about the English language and our rich literary heritage and enjoy sharing this with my students. I am friendly and down-to-earth and try to relate to my students as a way of relaxing them about what they need to learn. At the same time, I have high expectations and encourage my students to achieve to the best of their ability. One of the ways I do this is by offering practical strategies to understand literary texts, features of the English language, and how to write for different purposes and audiences as well as in ways that satisfy given exam criteria.

Teaching Experience:

Teacher of English as a Foreign Language at the British Council in Paris, including preparation for the Cambridge First Certificate in English (Upper-Intermediate level), General English and Literature for 12-17 year olds, as well as courses to older students (17-19) to help them prepare for the Baccalaureate in English (the French equivalent of A levels) and to raise their level sufficiently to be able to enter into the better Parisian universities.

Teacher of English at Fyndoune Community College in County Durham, an 11-16 comprehensive, at which I prepared students for GCSE English, English Literature and Media Studies, as well as establishing extra-curricular drama and newspaper clubs to further enable students to develop their literacy skills.

Trainee Teacher at Seaham School of Technology in County Durham, where I undertook my teacher training on the Graduate Teacher Programme, gaining experience in teaching English, Literature, Media and Drama.

I also have a wide range of other experience within the field of education, from the non-formal educational sector to universities, both in the UK and in Romania and Moldova, during and after my university studies.

Tutoring Approach:

I would describe my approach to tutoring as personal. I am interested in helping students from whichever point they happen to be at, to progress to the stage they need to get to. I am very quick to understand the assessment objectives of a given qualification (whether this be GCSE English Literature or the Cambridge First Certificate in English Language) and to help my students understand what it is they need to do to satisfy these criteria. I am also keen to find out what my students interests are so that I can help them to enjoy the subject they need to master.

Personal Description:
I am a full-time native Italian teacher with a great passion for my job.
I consider myself as an ambassador of Italian culture and language and I strongly believe that studying a foreign language is an incredibly enriching experience that can really widen and improve your world. I started learning languages when I was six and I will probably never stop.
In my spare time I love reading, watching movies and going to farmers' markets.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching Italian as a foreign language while studying languages and literatures at university. I kept teaching part-time for 3 years to students of various ages and levels until I graduated.
I then pursued a career in advertising: I worked as copywriter and trainer of new employees for 6 years. I had the opportunity to train new colleagues from all over Europe. I loved training so much that I decided to go back to language teaching, but full-time. I completed my teacher training at the London Italian Cultural Institute, where I achieved my TIAFL Certificate (Teacher of Italian as a Foreign Language).
I am currently working as private Italian tutor in central London and have a variety of one-to-one and group students.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching is student-centred: this means that I plan lessons according to my learners' level, needs and interests.
Lessons are completely in Italian and are designed according to the principles of the communicative method, which makes authentic Italian material the starting point that will lead students to explore and discover the language in a spontaneous way.
You will be learning Italian and Italian culture through different texts and activities. My resources are the latest Italian learning text books, but also literature, songs, videos, articles and games.
Guided by the student's objectives, we will be working on all language abilities: speaking, writing, listening and reading, in order to promote a full and enjoyable learning process.

Personal Description:
I am a Third Year Language Student at Exeter University, have recently completed my Study Abroad Programme in Egypt. My early years were spent in Thailand, Dubai and Hong Kong, so naturally I have grown up in very multicultural settings with the use of several languages. Aside of my interest in languages, I like to travel, play classical guitar, dance, and enjoy water sports.

Teaching Experience:

I gained my TEFL Qualification for teaching English to all levels and abilities in 2010. Also I tutored several students at schools in my area for French, Spanish and German (so far up to GCSE Level).

Tutoring Approach:

I like to find out my student's targets and goals, as well as any weaker areas and specific skills which they want to focus on in particular. I prefer a practical approach to tutoring, so there will be emphasis on speaking the language as a means of confidence building and practise with a fluent speaker of the language.

Personal Description:
I recently graduated from the University of Bristol with a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, and am currently working towards an MA in Film and Television studies at Warwick University. I am passionate about Philosophy, Film and English. I am a reliable, flexible and friendly individual. As well as working hard to ensure a tutee understands the content of a subject, I also

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored in Philosophy for just under a year, and I have given seminars in social media, filming, editing and audio recording. I was also a young leader for just under a year at my local Beaver Scouts group, working with boys aged between six and eight years old. I also have baby sat for a number years, during which I have help children between the ages of six and fourteen with their homework. My time spent studying at University has also given me the experience necessary to teach tutees about essay and exam techniques.

Tutoring Approach:

I have studied Philosophy for over seven years and am extremely passionate about the subject. Through my extensive studying, I know that the subject is not always immediately accesible and can often appear somewhat overwhelming. This is why I take the time to get to know a tutee and take care to find the style of learning which is most effective for them, as well as translating Philosophical jargon into plain english. I am particularly adept at finding ways of making Philosophy relevant to a tutee- this can often be achieved by considering music, film and books although it is a pre-requisite of my teaching style that we look closely at the relevant texts. I think that learning is at its most effective in a relaxed environment; and as such, I insist that during my first session with a tutee we talk informally about their curriculum and what they would like to achieve as well as their general interests and hobbies. After this initial meeting I can begin to create a more rigorous lesson plan for subsequent sessions. As such, I offer reduced rates for the first two sessions with a tutee. Where appropriate, I set assignments in between each session, although I understand that this is not always desirable on top of a heavy homework load. As such, I only offer this as an option and do not insist upon it.

I studied English Literature at GCSE and A Level. I received an A* and A respectively (at the time I took my A Levels, A*s were not awarded). I am more than competent in my ability to teach prose and poetry thanks to my high grades achieved in the subject. My A* in GCSE Drama and my current studies as a Masters student in Film and Television Studies, also mean that I can teach any theatrical or film texts encountered when studying English and Drama. I can also tutor in the performance side of Drama due to my GCSE as well as having made numerous shirt films. My teaching style in English and Drama is the same as described above for Philosophy.

Personal Description:
As an educator and enthusiastic learner I always aim to engender a love for learning in those that I work with, regardless of level or subject. I have a strong background in education as a participant, lecturer and mentor working primarily with older students although through my experiences as a hockey and swimming coach I have worked with individuals from the age of five upwards. I am a published writer and qualified journalist with excellent language skills which are directly transferable to all elements of education.

As a motivated individual, I aim to get all students to want to achieve and perform academically to the best of their ability.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my Professional Graduate Certificate in Education with the University of Bedfordshire in 2012 whilst working as a full time lecturer in further and higher education where I volunteered for one year and taught for two. During this time I was personal tutor to 60 Level 3 students, and responsible for their welfare and setting their educational goals. I also taught various subjects, including functional skills maths and English, covered lessons with students from different academic levels and provided support lessons to students as they completed coursework.

I have also worked with children from the age of three upwards through my experiences as a swimming teacher and coach, and have worked with groups of performance athletes on honing specific skills. The range of children I have worked with through all educational experiences require communication to be adapted and different teaching methods to be used, all of which I am competent at and able to use in all manner of settings.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to provide an individual approach to learning depending on the learning style and preferences of the individual. I firmly believe that students should be involved in the learning process to improve retention and understanding of information and help them apply everything learnt practically. My aim is not for students to retain information simply for the purpose of passing an exam or completing coursework - it is to help students gain an understanding of a subject so it benefits them through life. Through my experiences as a teacher I have found the words of Confucius to be true of the learning process: "I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand."

Personal Description:
I am a 3rd year medical student studying at imperial college london. I have obtained academic distinction in both 1st and 2nd year examination, therefore I believe I have an effective method of learning with which I can help the students.

I am very passionate about teaching as I believe with the right method, students would be able to reach their potential. Different students have different ways of optimised learning, it is both challenging and rewarding to explore the best way of learning for them, and that's where the fun of teaching lies for me.

Having experienced GCSE/Alevel and now in university, I feel that there are various learning habits developed during my GCSE/Alevel years which if not corrected, could hinder an effective learning later on in university; namely, the rigid way of cramming hard facts and not truly absorbing the essence of it. Therefore, I feel strongly about guiding the students onto the correct learning habits which could benefit them not just for exam in the short term, but for life-long learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have experiences tutoring lower-year students during GCSE and Alevel.
I am also tutoring year 1 & 2 medical students on background science and clinical medicine.
I have also participated as a tutor in teaching days organised by imperial college medical school directed at GCSE & A level students with the aim of introducing them to medicine and human physiology.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a focused teaching approach where key learning points should be emphasized, students would be taught independent problem-solving, that is, applying learnt principles to a variety of different problems. Memorising methods are important for learning hard facts, but helping the students to truly understand and explore the principles is the central focus.
Even though the essence of teaching is the same, there's differences in how we should approach different subjects.

mathematics:
There's two key points to learning maths; a thorough understanding of key principles, and a flexible mind when approaching mathematical problems. The students should be shown how the principles are derived within reasonably simple-level scope, as not understanding how and why the principles are derived could lead to rigid way of mathematical thinking, which then leads to the students unable to solve those problems with a twist to them. A flexible mind not only comes with adequate understanding of the key teaching points, but also comes with guided practice. I would encourage the students to tackle a variety of mathematical problem based on the principle, with an increasing degree of difficulty, as it is important to teach the students not to be afraid of difficult and challenging questions. With a systematic approach, difficult problems becomes self-evidently easy.

Science (biology, chemistry, physics)
For GCSE/A-LEVEL, because of the learning is relatively basic in comparison to the higher education, there's many new concepts introduced which could be hard to get their head around to. Especially when it is often the case that a conclusion is given to the students as a hard fact for them to memorise, but nothing is explained in term of how such conclusion is reached. In such case, I am aiming to explain the basis behind various mechanism in the simplest language with plenty of analogies so to allow the students to have the whole picture, this I find actually improve on their long-term memory of the hard facts.
Real-life application is another way of encouraging their interest in the subject, as well as their desire to learn more about the natural mechanics that governs our biological, physical and chemical system, by making the link, and seeing the application, can they truly appreciate the relevance of learning science.

Mandarin
When it comes to teaching language, the key is to provide a native environment, and encourage as much communication and practice with them as possible. Since a large amount of the work lies on memorisation, it could be quite dull for the student, therefore, I am using a variety of teaching tools (graphical, presentation, discussion, games and role-play) to makes it interesting and fun for the students, it would also help to establish a sense of acheivement quite early on in language learning.

Personal Description:
Acting Experience

Since finishing theatre school, I have been lucky enough to have a very varied and busy acting career.

I toured a one woman show to critical acclaim; 5* reviews in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and sell out audiences in every venue. I then went on to play lead roles in a number of plays and short films. I landed my first feature film role in 2011 and played Fiona in award winning 'The Enchantress' alongside Nicholas Ball (Hazard), James Simmonds (Les Miserables film; Lion King) and Johanne Murdock (Holby City) and took the lead in stage show 'Medea' that year as well.

TV Experience

A familiar face in the television as a TV presenter, producer and writer, Alexandra has been a driving force in many quality, great selling productions over the last few years.

2012 was an extremely busy year. I was the production coordinator and presenter of the SKY TV programme 'Inside Track' - a documentary written after my time spent working at the McLaren technology Centre as a presenter. I interviewed many industry favourites including F1 driver Sergio Perezs' Personal trainer and Mind Coach Simon Fitchett; ITV presenter and media guru Louise Coleman; ex F1 star and racing champion Mike Wilds; Rallycross champion Liam Doran; BTCC stars Tom Onslow Cole, Andy Neate and Rob Collard to name a small few.

I wrote, produced and presented the recently aired (Motors TV) Motorsport UK Show - as well as presenting the live stage at the event; and i landed a major presenting role as the ongoing presenter on one of the most popular YouTube car channels 'Fast, Furious and Funny' () on which I still present now.

I presented the Le Mans Classic live studio with Alain de Cadenet and Sarah Dryhurst - interviewing some incredible names such as Richard Mille, Jean Todt, Gordon Sheddon, Anthony Reid, James Wood and Gregor Fisken; and during the 2012 season I was the presenter of the F3 Cup, the Production BMW, the VAG Trophy and the MK2 Golf Championships, all of which aired weekly on Motors TV.

This year I am set again to present these championships as well as a number of other car related shows; i will continue to present the YouTube channel; I recently presented the Couture Fashion Week so will be presenting the main show in April; and I have a number of music festivals and fashions shows I will be presenting.
