I am educated to degree standard with a recognised teaching qualification, specialising in Mathematics. I offer Mathematics throughout primary and secondary school to GCSE.I have experience of working in both school and college, though now prefer to concentrate my efforts on 'private tuition' in which I have had considerable success and find stimulating and rewarding. I am fully conversant with the Maths syllabus throughout primary and secondary school and aim to pass this knowledge on to the pupil in a supportive atmosphere, tailoring lessons to the needs of the individual pupil

Tutoring Approach:

Initially find the level of student then according to his/her ability explain go through a couple of examples. Then set task for the pupil any difficulty rectify on the spot. Personal Description:
I am a keen, enthusiastic and passionate tutor who has just completed a Masters' degree and a Geography degree, both from Oxford University. I am about to complete the GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law) at BPP, London (Waterloo). I have demonstrated sustained academic success since the age of 13 when I won two scholarships to Westminster School (Queen's Scholarship) and Haberdashers' Aske's, Elstree (Top Scholarship).

My subsequent qualifications are outlined below:

12 A* GCSEs (incl. full marks in English Language and Literature),

4 "A"A-Level Grades August 2009 in Mathematics (MEI), Geography, History and Biology also at Westminster School.

Highly Commended Prize Essays on 'Global Warming: An Inconvenient Truth or Convenient Untruth?' and 'Biofuels should no longer be considered as a weapon against climate change.'

BA (Hons.) Geography at Jesus College, Oxford 2009-2012.
First (Distinction) achieved in Prelim University 1st Year Exams, July 2010
Academic Scholarship Awarded for 2010-2012

MSc. Criminology & Criminal Justice: Green Templeton College, University Oxford, 2012-2013

Teaching Experience:

Very experienced tutor; over 140 hours of tutoring experience from 11+ to university interview preparation. I am a top tier tutor at other agencies.

My last four tutees have attained the highest academic achievements:
One gained a place reading Land Economy at Cambridge University,
ALL three of my 13+ candidates received places at EVERY one of the schools they applied for. Two of these three even achieved academic scholarships.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe there are a number of key principles to tutoring.
1) RAPPORT - each tutee is different and it is important not to have a set formula when working with each student, or even for each class. In my opinion, there should be an emphasis on identifying the needs of the student and working towards these goals.
2) TARGETS - what are we working towards, how we can get there and isolating areas for improvement.
3) PRACTICE - regular testing, from past papers to 4) GENERAL EXAM TECHNIQUE.

Employing these four principles as a foundation, tutoring can be productive and enjoyable and I have a number of testimonies to illustrate this point. For instance, last summer, I worked with an A-Level Geography candidate who was able to get their grade from an E at AS Level to an overall high B grade for their entire A Level.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable tutor with a huge amount of enthusiasm in the subjects I teach. I was awarded a Scholarship to a competitive independent before working towards a Masters in Biochemistry at Oxford University.

I have since worked as a Pharmaceuticals Business Analyst, as a High Yield Chemicals Industry Analyst in Investment Banking and as an Air Traffic Controller. In each case the knowledge and skills from my education have been critical. I would now like to gain the satisfaction of helping others do well in these subjects and attain their potential.

Teaching Experience:

In my industries it is critical to continue learning and passing exams, and in every role, I have always had to pass on my knowledge and understanding to others, which has been incredibly gratifying. More recently, I have enjoyed tutoring maths and other subjects to pupils locally, often to help them gain entrance to competitive schools. I also enjoy spending time teaching my son and my nieces.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning should always be interesting to the pupil - inspirational even - and that the onus is on the teacher to make this the case. Learning is about being curious and asking questions; in fact I believe pupils should not be scared to ask any question, which means that learning should feel relaxed rather than formal.

Subjects should not be seen as complex but rather layers of straight forward principals that build on what the pupil already knows in an intuitive fashion. In this way, a good teacher allows understanding to grow naturally and not feel like a challenge.

Personal Description:
SAXOPHONE-I am an experienced saxophonist. Currently I play both alto and baritone saxophone. I have taught young pupils at my old school before for free, but now that i have gained enough experience, not just as a teacher but at a very high level in bands too, I am starting to tutor. I teach many different styles, have it be jazz, pop or classical. I offer tuition for students of all ages. Whether you are young and just starting out or older and wish to try something new/different for fun and want some guidance in the right direction, I am here to help. I teach for those at a amateur and beginner level. Music is a great passion of mine and I really enjoy teaching others something so great.

MATHS- I am a higher level maths student and i have an A grade at GCSE level maths. During my free periods i spend time helping lower school student who are struggling with their maths for free because i really enjoy teaching. I teach everything from key stage 1,2 and 3 maths to foundation GCSE students. Maths has always been a great ability of mine and I mainly teach it because I have a love for it and in my experience those who i have taught have found me very helpful.

Teaching Experience:

SAXOPHONE- I have taught young pupils at my old school before for free to gain some experience in teaching. I also play at a high level in the Hillingdon Music Service concert band and Sax Group, as well as in multiple Jazz and Big Bands.I have been on tour to France with the Music Service as well and have played for weddings too. I now have a good level of experience in both playing and teaching.

MATHS- I have been teaching GCSE and lower level maths for a few years now. I was part of a team who a few years ago went to the UK maths challenge representing my region of London. I enjoy teaching maths and in my experience those who i have taught have found me very useful.

Tutoring Approach:

I find that bringing out the passion in the student is what counts, so for music the genre they enjoy most and helping them fall in love with music that way. With maths i believe having a strategic plan of getting a topic or part of maths that the student is struggling with and keeping at it and doing questions and going through the solutions with them until they understand. I understand that many people struggle with maths or may not like it but i find that someone younger (such as myself) teaching them makes it a lot easier on them. Another good way i find with maths is going through questions and helping them understand how to get to the answer rather than just giving the answer and moving on with a simple tick or cross.

Personal Description:
my name is Giulia, I am 28 years old and I come from Italy, where I gained a BA (Hons), with the equivalent of a First, and a MA (again, with the equivalent of a Distinction) in Classics (universita' di Udine). I am currently studying for a PhD in Classics at Royal Holloway, University of London.
As a foreign student, I also hold a TOEFL certificate in English.

Teaching Experience:

During my undegraduate program I have tutored four students from secondary schools in the form of private lessons, mainly in Latin and Greek, but also in English, Italian, history and philosophy. I can also help pupils and students develop a good method of studying in other art-based subjects like English or history.
I have taught at Royal Holloway within my department: I have run Greek literature seminars with first year Classics students in Octo/Nov 2010, and in 2011 and 2012 I taught Beginners and Intermediate Latin.
I have also been employed as an Italian tutor within the continuing education program at Strode's college, Egham.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is easygoing but also rigorous. I have a solid knowledge of Latin, Greek, Italian and English based on a 10 years school and university experience.
I am a very patient person who likes to prompt the students to reach indipendent thought and critical reasoning. For this reason, my method of teaching/tutoring is often based on discussion and confrontation, more than just lecturing. As far as primary school level is concerned, I do not have previous experience but I am keen to work with pupils as well: classical civilisations still have a great appeal also to the young ones and this aspect makes them very enjoyable at every level. I can also help students of every age develop an efficient method of learning and studying using the skills they already have.
Being still a student is a bonus, as I am well aware of what students' fears, needs and expectations are.

Teaching Experience:

Company: PLAN INTERNATIONAL .Woking , Surrey

April 2005 - March 2006 Freelance Spanish Teacher for novice, beginners, intermediate and advanced students. Institution: ILISA. Panama City - Panama

Tutoring Approach:

The communicative approach centered in developing students' skills and abilities is my preferred tutoring approach, but it depends on the students needs. In the first lesson there is an assessment of competence and a learning style evaluation so I can easily tailor the Spanish course according to the needs of the student.
In all cases, Spanish classes include grammar, written exercises, talking and listening, and the writing practices are carried out through the homework (optional)
Also important the mutual evaluation at the end of each class so that both student and myself can correct/improve something that is not going well in order to fulfill mutual expectations, and have an interesting, funny and efficient Spanish lesson every class.

Personal Description:
A teacher for twelve years, I am committed to the success of all my students, within and outside school.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently Head of English in a large state secondary school on the south coast. Previous to this position, I taught for several years in Wiltshire. I have delivered the English curriculum across the age and ability range, with successful results at GCSE and A-Level. I have taught English, English Literature, Media Studies and Film Studies, and am also an Assistant Examiner for GCSE English Literature, giving me an excellent insight into the workings of exam boards and the requirements of the syllabus.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a committed and professional teacher, and pride myself on seeing my students perform well at all levels of education. I have a good degree from Cardiff University and am able to support and stretch the most academic of students. However, I am also approachable and supportive and enjoy helping students who find the subject more difficult to achieve their maximum potential. I see the study of English as absolutely key to an individual's future success. Good communication skills are vital in today's competitive employment market, and core English skills lie at the heart of communication, be it oral or written. I am also committed to the importance of English Literature, as a way of facilitating access to the rich and diverse culture(s) which surround us. I am passionate about my subject area and excel at teaching complex topics in a simple way. I can provide revision resources that make learning memorable. I am happy to travel to the Cardiff / Caerphilly area as I am often there visiting friends and family.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach AS and A Level Religious Studies at a sixth form college in Swansea. I also have experience of teaching GCSE. I have attended all WJEC INSET for my subject area this year. Tutoring Approach:

I am a versatile tutor who tailors each session to the individual tutee and their needs. Once I have assessed the best way to help you, I can break down what you need to know into individual sessions and focus on the topic areas for which most assistance is needed. I can provide feedback on exam answers, Power Points and hand-outs that can help you understand what you need to know and what the examiner expects of you so that you feel confident going into your exam.

I have helped friends understand complicated maths topics many times in sixth form and university.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach in tutoring starts with establishing goals then creating a structured plan so that these goals can be achieved.

Personal Description:
I am a University of Leeds graduate from Cheltenham and studied joint honours Spanish & Chinese with a high 2:1 result. I have over 5 years of teaching experience of large classes, one-to-one tutoring, children, school students and adults.

I have lived in China for over 1.5 years, in both large and small cities, and in Spain twice for over a year in Granada and San Sebastian. For the past year I worked at an official language school in Tolosa, Spain teaching classes of spoken English and also doing a lot of private tutoring. I am currently working teaching English to foreign students at a school in Cheltenham.

I am passionate about learning and teaching languages and would love to have the opportunity to teach even more!

Teaching Experience:

2009- I volunteered for 5 months as an English teacher in Zhangzhou City College in the south of China for a class of 40 university students. During this time, I created individual and stimulating lesson plans for my students and independently taught.

2010-2011 Over a period of a year in Shanghai, China, I independently undertook a job as an English tutor, teaching on a one to one basis. I helped my students progress and build on each class. I worked with students on a short and long term basis for up to 4 hours each per week.

2012-2013 I tutored GCSE Mandarin to a year 10 child (I was his only tutor and teacher), and he achived amazing progress along with an A* GCSE grade one year early.

2013-2014 I worked in The Official Language School of Tolosa, in Spain during this year teaching English to students of all ages and levels, independently teaching classes and tailoring classes to create stimulating lessons relevant and true to life.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the only easy way to learn a language is to make it fun, so this is my main aim, using interesting and informative texts, games and various techniques whilst keeping the lessons relevant.

I would also tailor the classes to the individual and their personal aims and goals, whether it be grammar, speaking, writing, vocabulary, or colloquial language.

As a language learner myself, I strongly believe that individual mistakes are not what is important but confidence and fluency in talking and writing. I also maintain that as an English native, I can highlight the common mistakes and initial difficulties made in languages such as Mandarin which I have made myself.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!
