I am full time engineer working in Victoria, after achieving a degree in Civil Engineering in Imperial College, London. At 8, I studied at DCPS, then moving to St Pauls at 13+ (common entrance). Coming from this background, I understand the pressures of succeeding at all levels.

I have had 7 years experience, privately tutoring children between the ages of 11 to 19. My language learning journey started in the same way it does for most of us - at secondary school. I fell in love with the French language at an early age and went on to complete an honours degree in French Studies at the University of Birmingham. During my year abroad, I lived and studied in Montréal, where I took classes in French, Italian and Spanish at McGill University and also fell in love with the Spanish language and culture.

I am passionate languages and helping learners build their confidence and reach their language learning goals, whether it be for school, exam preparation, work or pleasure, and I aim to do so in a purposeful and structured yet fun way.

I firmly believe that anyone can learn a language and make progress, whatever their starting point might be.

I am a fully qualified Mathematics teacher currently working in an inner city secondary in Liverpool.
I graduated from the University of Liverpool with an honours degree in Mathematics and Financial Economics and have also completed a further Mathematics course at Liverpool Hope University.

I come to teaching from a commercial rather than academic background. I worked in music publishing and for an Indian furniture and design business for many years before qualifying as a mature student from the Institute of Education, UCL in 2013 with a PGCE (maths) at level seven since when I have been teaching GCSE maths to adults at various colleges around London including City of Islington College, South Thames College, Adult Learning Lewisham and Westminster Adult Education Services where I was nominated for Teacher of the Year.
As well as my PGCE I have A level mathematics and began a music degree at Goldsmiths thirty years ago but did not complete it. As part of my CPD I completed the GCSE Maths Enhancement Program at the IOE and Pearson's Preparing to Teach the new GCSE (9-1) Syllabus.

Prior to attending university, I lived in Australia for five months, volunteering in a school as a sports assistant, where my role was to assist the full time teachers and cover the primary PE classes when the teacher was not available. I am a qualified teacher (PGCE) and for the past 25 years I have taught 'A' level Accounting to international students at an independent school in the UK. I have an excellent track record of results where most of my students have achieved A*/A/B grades.

Teaching Experience:
In my previous school, I was head of Accounting for sixteen years. We were listed in The Good Schools Guide for the best results in A level Accounting achieved by girls. More recently I have been teaching many students online. I am very familiar with the AQA exam board, where I have attended Inset training days so I am very up to date with the changes on the specification.

Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy tutoring students that struggle with the subject and providing them with academic support. I remember one student who said I can't do Accounting after failing an internal exam, and it was clear his confidence in the subject was at rock bottom. After giving him 1:1 tutoring, I was able to apply different teaching strategies to simplify and explain the concepts in such a way that the student could understand, giving him lots of practice on exam styled questions to build his confidence. This student went on to study Accounting and Finance at university. This is just one of many students that have gone on to top universities like Warwick, LSE, Bristol and Nottingham. My lessons are very interactive and I think it is extremely important to keep checking that the student understands so I will always check learning as we progress with tasks to complete. However, in order for students to progress in Accounting it is crucial they follow my instructions and guidance and that will include reviewing the lesson material during the week in between lessons, this is crucial so that they retain the information taught.
