Personal Description:
Experienced language tutor with excellent proficiency (oral/ written) in 3 languages.

I am an experienced tutor in teaching French (up to GCSE and IGCSE, A'Level and International Baccalaureate and beyond). I also teach German and Italian up to GCSE/IGCSE level.

I also teach conversation and practical French for adults looking to use the language for holidays/buying/maintaining properties in France as well as business French or just for general use

Have valid CRB disclosure

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for the last 10 years at all levels and have consistantly produced good results in my students at A' Level/IB as well as GCSE/IGCSE.

I am fully conversant with all Exam Boards and GCSE/IGCSE/A'LEVEL/IB etc. syllabuses

I have also taught French to adults at all levels for example who have just wanted to be able to converse comfortably while on holiday, use French to purchase a house in France. I have taught those who want to learn from scratch as well as those who are already at a reasonable level and want to improve their oral and writing skills for business or pleasure

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is firstly to assess closely where the gaps in my pupil's knowledge are and then build on closing them through grammar and vocabulary. I therefore give my students the building blocks to construct their own sentences in writing and speech.

I will work with them sometimes using their own text books but also I provide my own material to make the lessons more interesting. I will use games/quizzes as well as focussing on past papers and oral exams to help them gain confidence in the language.

I engage well with all my pupils and they always enjoy their lessons with me so that their time with me does not feel like just another extension of school

My conversation lessons with adults are always fast-paced and fun and my pupils widen their vocabulary and gain confidence in the new language very quickly

Personal Description:
Iain was born in 1986 in Dundee, Scotland into a large musical family, so unsurprisingly making music was all that he wanted to do from an early age. He first began to learn the trumpet in school aged seven, before joining his local brass band Dundee Instrumental on cornet at the age of ten. By the age of twelve, Iain had been promoted to principal cornet, a position he later went on to hold with several of Scotland's top bands, also including the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland. Many solo competitions were won along the way - including the junior section at the British Open Solo Championships at age eleven. Having gained two Trinity College diplomas before the age of eighteen, Iain took the advice of teacher David James and moved south to study music at the University of Salford, where his playing really began to blossom. Since then Iain has held positions as principal cornet with many of the UK's leading brass bands including his current seat with the world renowned Leyland Band. He has enjoyed many successful contest and concert performances, and is fast establishing a reputation as one of the finest cornet soloists of his generation, performing, adjudicating and giving master-classes as far afield as the USA, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Japan. In 2009 Iain was the recipient of a prestigious Dewar Arts award, awarded for performance in trumpet. This award allowed him to complete his postgraduate studies at Salford, graduating with an MA in Music (performance) in 2010. Iain is now a cornet tutor at the University of Salford where he is also undertaking researchinto focal dystonia in musicians, working towards a PhD. Iain recorded and released his first solo CD entitled "Vanguard" in August 2012, a release which has been met with great critical acclaim and has fast proven popular.

Iain is also an experienced guitarist and teacher of electric and acoustic guitar as well as the bass guitar.

I am a Investment Modeller for an Enery Firm.I develop financial models to help the firm to make major investment decisions in the UK.

I am Msc, Finance from LSE and consider myself as a person who makes complex formulae simple.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught mathematics to the University, A Level & GCSE students. Most of them have done well and are thorough professionals in their respective fields. Most of them are software engineers.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in making complex formulae simple. I do that by linking a problem to commonsense or everyday life.

So, there is no need of memorising formulae. Even if you forget it, just remember the story I told you to remember the formulae !

Personal Description:
I am a 45 year old lady residing in Ashford, Kent. I originally come from Africa and have been in England for 10 years now. I trained as a primary school teacher but resigned after 16 years mainly because I wanted to travel and broaden my experiences. My hobbies are reading and writing (for leisure), travelling and sightseeing, aerobics and swimming. I could however easily call teaching one of my hobbies because I always find myself teaching people wherever I go!

Teaching Experience:

I was a primary school teacher for 16 years but I also did private tutoring as a sideline. I taught English to the age group 9-10years and outside working hours I taught adult literacy classes. I think I did well because I always found myself with so many private students to teach that sometimes it was hard to cope . All the same I enjoyed every minute of it. I have also recently qualified as an EFL teacher and am hoping to start soon.

Tutoring Approach:

When I meet a student for the first time I always believe in taking time to know them. By this I mean their well being and /or state of mind. For example, if a student has come to class only because someone has insisted, then learning will be a chore. Or if they have personal problems, or they are hungry, tired or ill then we will not get very far. So I will take a few minutes to chat and get to know their state of mind as well as reassure them before we start and if there is anything I can do to settle them then that is what I will do first. I am saying this with a view to teaching adults because that is what I hope to do. I also believe in teaching in a very relaxed environment that is conducive to learning so I always try and get rid of all distractions before we start. I have been known to be a good teacher and I hope I will continue with my good style and reputation.

Personal Description:
Over the last 10 years I have developed a maths tutoring business for underachieving and under confident children, covering KS2,KS3 and GCSE,I use a combination of online, interactive maths support and face to face tutoring for children and young adults who for one reason or another find maths difficult.

Teaching Experience:

In my experience working with many students in a supportive, relaxed and friendly atmosphere on a one to one basis is completely the opposite to the classroom environment.

Students often find it difficult due to pier pressure to question when struggling to understand a particular topic. On a one to one basis this is easily overcome and it does result in significant improvements in their attainment.

I have the experience and skill to help pupils make speedy progress towards achieving their goals. I work from home or at the pupils home and on-line.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to learning is to develop a happy relationship that encourages my pupils to take risks, develop their own self-belief and so come to enjoy Maths. I have the enthusiasm and commitment to help pupils make speedy progress towards achieving their goals/grades. Working in a relaxed atmosphere allows a pupil to go away with a sense of achievement. To me there is no better reward.

The ultimate aim is to improve on the students predicted grade.

I am a secondary school science teacher with Physics specialism. I have tutored KS3 and KS4 while I was at university and have carried on since. I thoroughly enjoy the one to one interaction with students to help them learn and reach their potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored Science for KS3 and Physics for KS4 for the last 7 years. I currently teach science and physics in a secondary school.

Tutoring Approach:

Most issues tutees encounter are due to a lack of confidence or an inadequate teaching method. Each person is different therefore various approaches -tailored to the tutee- have to be used to reach our objectives.

Your success is my success, your failure is also mine. So let's get started and put ourselves on the path to success

During the first session together, I use part of the time to discuss with the tutee objectives and expectations, hence only half the fee needs to be paid.

Personal Description:
Please note - for the 2023/24 academic year, I am only offering online lessons.

As a student of mathematics for over 25 years (and counting!), I have dedicated the past five years to making mathematics accessible to secondary students around the world.

After graduating from the University of Birmingham with a 1st Class BSc Hons in Economics, I worked as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant at professional services firm, PwC.

In search of a more fulfilling profession, I made the move into teaching through the Teach First programme in 2018 as a secondary mathematics teacher. Since then, I have taught as a qualified classroom teacher in the UK and as a Head of Department (Mathematics, Science, and Design) in China helping students from the age of 10 to 19 achieve their academic and personal goals.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Maths as a qualified teacher in UK secondary schools. I then went on to teach Maths, Economics, and Business Management at an international school in China, where I was also Subject Group Leader for Maths, Science, and Design.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I will:
- arrive to lesson with materials prepared
- highlight areas where the student's understanding is correct
- identify the student's misconceptions
- welcome "why?" and "what if?" questions
- guide the student through worked examples
- give the student opportunities to display their knowledge

I work with the student to ensure they:
- arrive to their lesson equipped and ready to learn
- explain their thought process when solving a problem
- ask the tutor "why?" and "what if?" questions
- organise knowledge by creating meaningful notes

My aim is to:
- guide students to build an understanding of mathematical concepts, rather than relying on merely teaching procedures
- support students with their in-school learning, rather than acting as a replacement for school-based lessons
- help students overcome maths-related anxiety; no topic is considered to be "easy" and the focus is always on making progress
- build a positive tutor-student relationship where students are comfortable making mistakes

Personal Description:
My name is Jo and I live in Balloch.
.I have 37 years of dedicated service in education, I recently retired after a fulfilling career focused on enhancing children's learning. For 15 years, I served as a Principal Teacher in a large, diverse school in Glasgow's West End, where I led teams and supported whole-school improvement. As Literacy Leader of Learning for 6 years, I championed innovative approaches to reading and writing across the curriculum.

Teaching Experience:

For the past six years, my role has been Challenge Leader of Learning/Principal Teacher in a large school in the West End of Glasgow. Through the Literacy for All CPD training and guidance courses that I have attended, my remit has been to improve reading, writing , talking and listening as part of the Scottish Attainment Challenge with the focus on giving all children the same opportunity to succeed, with a particular focus on closing the poverty related attainment gap and promote equity for all. This year due to Covid 19 I have had to develop my digital literacy skills in order to home school through Google Classroom, Seesaw and Teams. • A member of the Senior Management team within a large school, collaborating on improving all areas of the curriculum using HGIOS4. SIP, Standards and Quality Report, Education Perspective Report and shared vision, values and aims with colleagues. • I am committed to the inclusion of all children and developing the potential in all children by removing barriers to learning, families and staff. I evidence this by collecting quantitative data, people's views and direct observation. • To cultivate an environment of professional engagement, dialogue and collegiate working. Moderating reading, writing and assessment of pupil's skills. • Leading a PEF team of two highly experienced teachers to track and target individual children's progress through formative and summative approaches (I plan reading, writing lessons through experiences and outcomes that specifically meet the children's learning needs.) • Work collaboratively/team teach with colleagues at all stages to implement literacy circles, reciprocal teaching and stem a story. • Plan and deliver CPD opportunities for teachers on Early Learning, Scotland Reads, Reciprocal Teaching, STEM a story, Word Aware and Routes Through Writing. • Developed my own Busy Little Fingers writing skills programme and implemented across early stages. • Plan training days for Support for Learner Workers that give them strategies and skills to improve children's learning. • Update staff on Glasgow Improvement Challenge on in-service days and school business meeting. keep them informed of recent

Tutoring Approach:

I offer flexible tutoring options to suit your family's needs - online lessons, sessions at my home, or in the comfort of your child's home.
My approach is centred around engaging each child by connecting learning to topics they genuinely enjoy. I believe that sparking curiosity and making learning relevant can inspire even the most hesitant learners, helping them grow in confidence and develop a love for learning.
