I have been working as a maths tutor since 2011 and online exclusively since 2015. During this period, I have successfully assisted students studying for their GCSE, IB and A-levels as well as their undergraduate modules. This has taken place both privately and while holding external tutoring roles in various London schools. In the online realm, I have worked with students from all over the world, those studying for UK specifications as well as undergraduates in English speaking universities or wishing to attend UK universities. Areas usually covered for undergraduates include analysis and calculus, analytic and differential geometry, financial maths, linear algebra, statistics and probability.
Regarding my tutoring method, I strive to create a well balanced relationship with pupils. I set clear targets for my students and expect them to develop throughout our sessions. Additionally, I emphasize on the suitable approach for each individual in order to have the best results possible. I further consider humour an essential part of my sessions as it creates a better learning environment, eliminates inhibitions, and promotes a more enjoyable session.
Lastly, in my lessons, I put a lot of emphasis on the background knowledge of every topic and method - dry memorising is of no use. Exams aside, analytic skills accompany students throughout their studies in various areas.
I'm very friendly and passionate with what I do. I'm enthusiastic with teaching and especially maths and I am trying to convey this feeling to my students as well. Maths is not plainly something you have to learn but something fun you could learn. Of course we all care about grades but what counts most at the end of the day is the new mindset you have acquired, upon which you can carry on building within any discipline.
On a more personal note, I am a keen yoga practitioner and a performer in contemporary dance. Philosophy is my second passion following mathematics - abstract thinking to the fullest. When time allows, I explore the intersections of philosophy with various disciplines and practices.

Teaching at all levels and using a large variety of materials, tailored to students' ages and needs, the emphasis is on enjoying the process of learning the language at the students own pace as well as working towards specific goals where appropriate.
Teaching Experience:
I teach German in school to children aged 6-10 and have given private lessons at all levels and to all ages, children, adolescents and adults, in both German and Arabic, for many years. My background is in interpreting and translation and I moved on to teaching from there. One of my long term Arabic students is now studying Arabic at university level, many of my other students have successfully completed GCSEs and A levels in both languages and/or gone on to use both languages for work or leisure purposes.
Tutoring Approach:
The emphasis is on the enjoyment of the learning process, I adapt the materials used to the individual needs of my students and everything is tailored to those needs. For children the emphasis is on learning through games, play and song, for adolescents and adults games and play may still form a part of the process. Cultural instruction and understanding goes hand in hand with the learning of the language, especially with Arabic as the culture and script are so different and present special challenges. Teaching Experience:
I qualified as a teacher in 2012 and I have taught French and Spanish from Year 7 to A-level in a secondary school since then. I have been a Sixth Form tutor and so helped pupils write UCAS references and prepared them for Spanish Oxbridge interviews. I fully understand the requirements for AQA and EDEXCEL exam boards for the new GCSE and A-level. I regularly assess and monitor my students' progress and set them achievable targets. I am a marketing communications specialist with an extensive background in teaching English and English as a Second Language. I possess both a Bachelor of Education in English Language and Literature, as well as a Masters in Marketing. Furthermore, I recently completed a 120-hour course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have lived across three continents over the past 20 years, broadening my cultural awareness and furthering my understanding of the needs of English language learners. I am a teacher at heart and have a passion for helping students reach their goals by advancing their English language skills. I have a particular interest in teaching Business English to professionals wishing to develop their communication skills in the workplace. Tutoring Approach:
I encourage students to contribute their ideas as much as possible in my lessons. I prepare lessons thoroughly according to my student's needs and deliver relevant material to stimulate their interests and further their understanding of English in a real life context. I encourage students to speak out and be prepared to make mistakes, and I am willing to give instant or delayed correction as required to model the correct language. I believe there is always a place for teaching grammar points, however, my lessons are centred around real-life contexts and grammar teaching is embedded within that learning process. For every class I ensure there is great scope for conversation, both small talk and more structured discussions. I am an encouraging teacher, however, if you select me to tutor you, please be prepared to be challenged!

I graduated with first class honours in Linguistics and am now studying the historical development of the Latin language for my MRes (Masters of Research). Having studied both English and Latin language I have an in depth knowledge of grammar and syntax in both languages. I also have a myriad of tips and tricks to help make grammar learning a little less daunting!
I can also tutor undergraduate Linguistics (listed under English). I am specialising in Historical Syntax but am able to offer support for a range of other first and second year modules including but no limited to: Sytnax, Semantics, Phonology, Historical Englishes, and English Grammar. Teaching Experience:
I have over 3 years of teaching experience with students from year 1 in primary school all the way to first year of undergraduate. Through teaching a broad range of students I have developed a flexible approach to teaching can easily adapt to the needs of a student. My tutoring supplements school lessons by helping the student to develop their problem solving skills so that they are able to tackle those surprising exam questions calmly.
Tutoring Approach:
I like to take an active approach to learning. In my first lesson with a student we focus on past paper questions to identify their strengths and weaknesses. This allows us to formulate a comprehensive plan going forward in order to maximise their revision time. I will work with the student to fill the gaps in their knowledge by working systematically through the syllabus for that topic. For content based material I will get the student to ask questions and tell me what they do not understand, I will then explain the material in simple terms. For mathematical or grammatical (depending on the subject) material I will explain how to do the calculation then run through examples with the student until they feel confident to do it alone. To conclude the lessons I ask students to tell me what they now know about the topic so that they can see just how much they have learnt!

Teaching Experience:
I have extensive experience in teaching, starting from 2018 when I first worked as an after school activity leader for a STEM business. I delivered these sessions mainly to primary school children year 5,6.
Further down the line I worked as a cover supervisor for a few years when I interacted with a range of different age groups ranging from 12 all the way to 18 year olds. I worked in all through SEN school before having also gained some experience with SEND children and young teenagers.
Furthermore in more recent years I worked with a summer school as a Business tutor where I taught international students Business concepts and applying these to a live Dragon's Den type of project. Lots to skills picked up here such as knowing how to interract with students that don't have English as their first language as well as bringing to the lessons a variety of brands that students can familiarise themselves with in the UK - for students who may wish to study in the UK, in future.

Tutoring Approach:
ever since starting tutoring my aim has always been to cater to the needs of the tutee.
i.e. I have tutored Spanish A level in the past so the aim here was to improve at grammar skills, therefore the focus of the tutoring sessions would mostly be on exam preparation questions, topics that may come up and then 15-2o mins of the session would focus on other areas such as speaking, listening, reading, writing.
I always offer the tutee to travel to them so it is all done in their own comfort.
As a person I am good at picking up on areas for development and find creative ways to bridge the gaps. I am very informal as a tutor and relaxed, flexible.

I have run art workshops both with adults and children, I volunteer at an Arts centre to run art workshops with primary school children surrounding different techniques and art mediums. I also have some experience teaching experimental approaches to writing and sound work. I have transferable experience in printing, design, book binding, painting, drawing, performance, editing and film, sculpture, textile.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is more broad and wellbeing based. I am able to share my material knowledge, but focus more on what the creative task may give my students confidence and esteem. There is no right way to be creative, the process is about questioning and experimenting and I warmly encourage my students to be patient with themselves and trust the process.
