I currently Subject Lead in Art and Design in a secondary school in Bishops Stortford and have a first class honours degree in Illustration and extensive skills in digital media including web design, image manipulation and design for print. Much of my work is done through direct observation and I stress to students, the importance of this. Hello! My name is Gemma and I am a 32 year old doctor, chartered accountant, strategy consultant and successful start up founder. I graduated in medicine from Nottingham University in 2016, switched to finance, became a qualified chartered accountant, and now work for one of the 'Big4' in health advisory and strategic consulting. However, my heart will always lie with the sciences, and somehow in amongst all of my wide ranging career, my favourite job has always been teaching.

Hello, I'm Ruben and I've just started my career as a science tutor. Having recently graduated from the university of Bristol (BSc in Biology with first class honours) I'm now tutoring KS4 and A-level Biology for both young and adult learners.

I have experience as a research intern for labs at the University of Bristol and the University of Newcastle, and I'm currently volunteering as a part-time researcher for the London-Based Social enterprise 'Mapping for change'. Above all I aim for a co-operative learning environment, and to create sessions which suit the learning style of the tutee. A session starts by devising learning aims which are both worthwhile and manageable. My lesson plans then combine two approaches. I am Stefanos, I am a primary school teacher, special needs teacher and a Greek language tutor currently working in Bristol, England. I am coming from Patras, Greece, where I spent most of my childhood and early adult life. I have been teaching in Special Education for 6 years supporting students aged from 7 to 16 years old with a range of learning, mental health and medical difficulties. The last couple years I am privileged enough to work in Primary Education and in teaching Greek as a second language.

For the last 10 years, I have been working as a Greek language tutor. I have had the pleasure to teach a variety of students across all ages, ethnic backgrounds and abilities, from primary-aged Greek students to teenagers and adult learners in the United Kingdom, Greece and on-line from all over the globe.

One my proudest Greek tutoring achievements is to be supporting a group of adult learners with their conversational Greek practice every week for the last 6 consecutive years. This particular group of learners (which I now also call friends) have experienced the positive impact of our lessons in their casual visits in Greece every year.

I do not follow a single approach in my teaching practice because I do not believe in the one-fits-all method. Tutoring Approach:
I use a very flexible approach so we can work at a pace that suits you. For my lessons, I use PowerPoint presentations to guide us through grammar and example sentences. I keep these simple and use coloured visuals to break things down so they're easier to digest. After each lesson, I'll share the presentation with you so you can refer back to it whenever you need.

Because of this setup, we have a good structure but can easily "flip back" to old grammar points if you need a refresher. I also try to get to know your hobbies and interests so I can use them in our examples - it makes the language much more relevant to your life.

Homework is entirely up to you and your own pace. I can set weekly vocabulary, sentence practice, or flashcards, but it's always your choice. For online lessons, I use Teams or Google Meet, which is very seamless. If we meet in person, I'll bring my laptop to go through the same content, along with any textbooks or paper resources we might need.

Most importantly, I keep things friendly and relaxed. It's 100% okay to make mistakes in my lessons - it's all part of the journey!
