Personal Description:

I am a qualified Music teacher with a PGCE with QTS from Roehampton University.
I started my Teaching and musical career in 2009 after graduating with a 1st class honours degree in Music.
I have an excellent knowledge of all GCSE and A level exam boards, and have experience teaching music at Chessington school, Tiffin Girls School and Southborough High School.
With a background in songwriting and arranging, I have a wealth of experience in helping students with their compositions for GCSE and A Level.
I have also been a performer for over 10 years now, performing at high end corporate events with various bands, as well as playing as a session guitarist for many signed artists both in the studio, and live.
A combination of all of these factors means that I can assist you in understanding the subject of music better, as well as helping you improve your performance and composition skills.

Teaching Experience:

Having been a peripatetic guitar, theory, composition and piano teacher for the last 12 years, I have worked in schools and privately with students on both composition and performance skills. I recently completed my PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status from Roehampton University, making me a fully qualified secondary school Music teacher.
I have worked as part of the Music department in several schools teaching Key Stages 3,4,5.
I have created many schemes of work which have helped students exceed their expectations in Music learning by increasing their understanding as well as their interest and enthusiasm in the subject.

Tutoring Approach:

I work with each individual to assist them with their own learning pathway based off their prior knowledge, prior skills, and their individual interest in Music. With GCSE each exam board is different, but one needs to have a basic understanding of a wide range of musical genres, and be able to listen and analyse music effectively.
Having worked at Tiffin Girls School, where our students achieved all 8s and 9s at GCSE, and all As and A stars at A Level, I have great experience at helping students achieve the top grades.
I also have experience at helping students who are struggling with the subject, finding ways to assist them in understanding the basics of musical elements, and how to apply these within a listening and compositional context.

• 1st Class BA Hons in Music
