Georgina - Shrewsbury tutor
Information About Georgina:
Personal Description:
I am currently a third year student of mathematics at Oxford University. As such I am only available during university holidays - but these are quite long since Oxford terms are short.
Can also advise on general study skills for A level and GCSE - revision and organisation, advice on writing personal statements - including proofreading, and general advice about getting an Oxbridge place.
Teaching Experience:
I have tutored GCSE level maths for a year, and I have been teaching and helping classmates for years in a variety of subjects. I also taught myself A level maths, which gave me a good grasp of what makes the subject conceptually hard for learners.
I also worked at Peacocks for a year during upper sixth, which helped me develop good communication skills.
Tutoring Approach:
Maths: I do not believe in rote learning for maths beyond times tables in primary school. Therefore for each concept I ensure that the student understands what is actually going on at every stage. For many students who think they are bad at maths, there are simply a couple of concepts that they haven't quite grasped - the trick is to talk through these together. In actuality maths is far more based around problem solving and pattern spotting than memorisation - this is what makes it so versatile and useful.

Qualifications:
- A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics - both A*
- A level German - A*
- 2 other A levels - A*A
- 14 GCSEs - 12 A*s, 2 As
