Information About Laura:

Personal Description:

***TAKING ON TUTEES NOW**

Please Note: My services include regular reports to let you know exactly where you or your son/daughter is with your/their learning, and I encourage tutees to contact me between sessions if they are struggling with a particular area so that I can incorporate this into the next session. Reports and contact between sessions are free of charge.

I believe that learning should be fun. I am a creative individual and actively try to include the use of engaging resources to enhance the learning experience. I believe that learning should be made relevant to real-life situations, so that learners can relate information to a context they understand.

I am exceptionally personable, and develop excellent working relationships with all my tutees and their parents/guardians.

I have an enthusiastic and positive demeanour, with an excellent sense of humour. I thoroughly enjoy learning, and will actively seek out answers to questions that learners might pose, if I do not already know the accurate explanation.

Teaching Experience:

I have a II.i in Primary Education BA (Hons) at Canterbury Christ Church University, and am proud to say that I was awarded "Outstanding" for my final placement. As a qualified Primary Teacher, I have an all-encompassing knowledge of curriculum subjects, though my second and third year specialisms were Design and Technology, and Art (respectively). In addition, I have an avid personal interest in and knowledge of Music, English Language, Religion and PHSE (particularly "Healthy Eating", "Smoking, Alcohol and Drugs", "Lifestyle" and "Fitness").

As part of my Initial Teacher Training (ITT), I undertook 3 placements in different primary schools; in my final placement, I taught for 70% of teaching time; planning, differentiating and evaluating lessons in accordance with statutory government guidelines and the learning objectives. I took responsibility for marking children's work and making accurate, detailed records of their progress, which I used to plan each child's next targets and objectives.

Canterbury Christ Church University taught me to create and utilise innovative, creative and engaging resources, and how to use them to enhance learning. Equally, I was provided with the opportunity to manage and coordinate support staff and volunteers, as well as the opportunity to liaise with specialists, such as SEN Coordinators and Speech Therapists.

Tutoring Approach:

I am confident in delivering engaging lessons, because I always consider creative methods to deliver information, as well as various learning styles; I appreciate that, whilst some learners have the ability to retain information through reading or listening, others need a tangible experience in order to comprehend the subject matter. During my university work placements, I strived to cater to the learners as individuals, whilst teaching to a whole class. I gained a lot of valuable experience whilst on placements, such as behaviour management strategies, lesson ideas, resources and classroom organisation techniques.
