Others find A-level maths harder going, and an imaginative and pictorial approach with plenty of real world examples is needed to achieve that "penny drops" moment!

Depending on the student, tuition may include any or all of: coaching to consolidate (or anticipate) teaching at school; revision for examinations; working through past examination papers; teaching and testing of specific sections of the curriculum; or more free-wheeling exploration of mathematical topics. By agreement with students and parents, homework may be set and marked.

I'm available to teach at almost any time in the week, either on weekdays (daytime or evenings) or on Saturday mornings. Sunday is my day off! Prior to becoming a qualified teacher my professional experience includes IT, social work, property maintenance, music, photography and education & employment while my studies at undergraduate included nine subjects. I started my career as a Chemical Engineer and completed my PhD in that subject.

Personal Description:
I'm a qualified primary teacher currently teaching Year 4 and offering KS1-KS2 tutoring. Sessions are structured, supportive and tailored to individual needs. Please feel free to message me if you would like to chat further.

Teaching Experience:
I have experience working across the primary age range, specifically in Nursery and Years 2, 3, 4, and 5. This has given me a deep understanding of the EYFS framework and the Key Stage 1 and 2 National Curriculum. In my time in Year 4, I have successfully supported students through assessment periods, tailoring my support to help them achieve their learning targets in English and Maths. I am comfortable adapting my style for younger learners (using play-based learning) as well as older students (focusing on exam technique and deeper comprehension).

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is student-centered and adaptive. I begin by assessing a student's current level to identify any specific gaps in their knowledge. From there, I scaffold their learning to build confidence and bridge those gaps, ensuring they meet age-related expectations. For students already working at level, I provide targeted challenges to push for greater depth and mastery of the subject.
