Personal Description:
I am an experienced and well qualfied secondary school teacher living and working in Ashford, Kent.
Teaching Experience:
I am an experienced secondary school history teacher with an excellent record of achieving excellent examination results at both Key stage 3, GCSE and A level. I have taught in both a grammar school and secondary modern and I am familiar with the national curriculum as well as having extensive experience of teaching to various examination bodies, including AQA, Edexcel and OCR. I am also employed as a marker for Edexcel during the summer.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring will really depend on your wants and needs. I take a supportive role working closely with the individual as, in my experience, it is very often a case of lack of confidence that prevents students from achieving their true potential. My approach will be tailored to the needs and requirements of the individual student and my teaching methods will be unique to each student. At GCSE and A level my focus will be on helping the student to improve his or her grades with an emphasis on examination techniques and examination paper skills including re-sitting past papers and self assessment. One of the key skills here is knowing how to achieve maximum possible marks and my work for Edexcel should prove invaluable here. I will ensure that students are given continual feedback on how they are progressing and methods they could use to improve their own work.
